Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Multiple Winners & More

Marathon Patent Group, Inc. MARA

We initially brought MARA into the fold on Thursday morning, when we highlighted it in our premarket report as a bottom-bouncer. The stock had just made a considerable move of off its recent relative lows the session prior, and looked set to continue into a multi-day run.

That certainly came to pass, with a solid performance on Thursday leading into yet another for Friday. On Thursday we observed a low of .22 and a moderate run into the .30’s but Friday, things ramped up to another level with MARA running from .24-.48 for an even 100% move on the day and a total rise of 118% over a two-day span.

That’s certainly a heck of a bottom-bouncer call. If things were to progress in a similar fashion to kick off the new trading week, today MARA could be looking at the fifty-cent range or better.

Defense Technologies International, Corp. DTII

We tagged DTII in Friday morning’s extended watchlist, and were very pleased with the solid intraday performance yielded by the play. The stock ran from a low of .0042 to as high as .0075 on the day, marking a move of 79%

The PPS pop was accompanied by a considerable influx of volume, on the order of more than six times the monthly average of shares changing hands. The past two sessions, in terms of price action and liquidity, have blown all others of the past few months out of the water, so we’re interested in seeing whether the stock can sustain this level of activity moving forward.

AVEO Pharmaceuticals, Inc. AVEO

We also tagged AVEO on Friday morning for the first time in a couple years, and the stock promptly turned around and set a new 52-week high on the day.  While the move itself was relatively modest, running 31% from 1.05 to 1.38, it did occur on mammoth volume, just a hair shy of 22X times the monthly average volume.

It did lose having held more than half of its daily advance, and is gapping up slightly in the premarket today, so we’ll definitely keep a slot reserved for AVEO on our watchscreens as we kick things off today.

Bed Bath and Beyond, Inc. BBBY – Options Recap

We went bearish on Bed Bath & Beyond on Friday with a set of options contracts to follow in the wake of their disappointing quarterly results, and it turned out to be a fantastic idea.

Our targets were the BBBY Weekly $31.50-30.50 Puts and regardless of which strike point was chosen, sizable gains were there for the taking:

$31.50 Puts – Range: 1.07-2.07 – Max Gain: 93%
$31 Puts – Range: .64-1.58 – Max Gain: 147%
$30.50 Puts – Range: .31-1.05 – Max Gain: 239%

Adobe Systems Inc. ADBE – Options Recap

We signaled some options for the ADBE chain on Wednesday, and the stock finished the week strong, and we witnessed some nice gains there as well. We were looking at the ADBE 06/30 $147 & $148 Calls, and both ideas have worked out nicely thus far.

The $147’s traded up from .35-.62 (+77%) while the $148’s ran from .17-.35 (+106%). Granted the nature of Friday’s session for ADBE, and these contracts not expiring until the end of this week, we wouldn’t be at all surprised to see these gains extended before it’s all said and done.

Best Buy Co. Inc. BBY

Our primary area of focus in terms of fresh picks in yesterday’s premarket report was in post-earnings options ideas, and essentially everything worked out in our favor, beginning with our ideas for the Best Buy chain, which were the BBY Weekly $55-58 Calls.

Abercrombie & Fitch Co. ANF

Our ANF calls didn’t disappoint either, despite the fact that Abercrombie’s was a much more mixed earnings release.  We said we’d be looking at the ANF Weekly $13 & $13.50 Calls, and saw some solid moves out of both.

The $13 Calls ran from .63 to 1.05 for an intraday push of 67% while the $13.50’s traded in a range from .35-.50, posting an intraday pop of 43%

Based on the present look of the ANF chart, we’ll still want to track these plays heading into the long weekend, but be forewarned, dealing with weekly options contracts on a Friday is for expert traders ONLY!

_____

Big Lots, Inc. BIG – Fresh Idea

We’ve had so much options trading success this earnings season, there’s no reason not to add in a couple more fresh ideas before we break for the holiday weekend.

Big Lots beat on profits and raised guidance in its premarket release today. With no weekly contracts to look at, we’ll put the BIG 06/16 $55 & 57.50 Calls on watch in the weeks ahead.

_____

ULTA Beauty, Inc. ULTA – This play is gapping up hard after its own earnings beat yesterday. We’ll want to keep an eye on the ULTA Weekly $302.50-310 Calls (Again, to be considered by expert traders only)

Coin Citadel CCTL

We offered up a few bitcoin related stocks to watch yesterday in light of the hysteria over bitcoin reaching all-time highs, and the one that outperformed the rest turned out to be CCTL.

Its volatile swings provided solid chances in both the morning and afternoon. First it ran from .0004 to .0007 (+75%), followed by a pullback to .0003 and subsequent 100% run-back to .0006.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Options Roundup & More

Options Roundup

All of our earnings-related options ideas from yesterday’s report saw increases during the session, so we want to kick things off today by going over those performances, as well as formulating another fresh idea.

FedEx Corp. FDX- Our idea for FDX was less about the earnings figures themselves which fell short of expectations, and more about the buoyed guidance. The investment community at large felt the same way, and as a result FDX made a really nice intraday run from just above $193, to just below $196. That allowed for our ideas, the FDX Weekly $192.50-200 Calls, to put up the following gains:

$192.50 Calls – Range: 1.86-3.96 – Max Gain: 113%
$195 Calls – Range: .90-2.96 – Max Gain: 218%
$197.50 Calls – Range: .29-2.37 – Max Gain: 717%
_____

Petroleo Brasiliero S.A. (Petrobras) PBR – An analyst upgrade coupled with a solid earnings report led us to signal a range of PBR calls yesterday. We mentioned the fact that we’ve had a ton of success on countless occasions in the past trading options in this play, and our streak kept on going. We offered both an idea for the weeklies as well as a couple with an April expiration for a longer-term play, (Weekly $9 Calls – 04/21 $9.50-10.00 Calls) and we saw notable gains in all of them:

Weekly $9 Calls – Range: .12-.27 – Max Gain: 125%
04/21 $9.50 Calls
– Range: .26-.34- Max Gain: 33%
04/21 $10.00 Calls
– Range: .14-.19 – Max Gain: 36%
_____

Dollar Tree, Inc. DLTR – We also highlighted the DLTR 04/21 $78-80 Calls, and while they did see marginal increases, it was nothing to write home about just yet. That’s why we just wanted to remind our readers that these are longer-term idea which could take some time to show us the sort of upward moves we’re looking for.
_____

FRESH IDEA:

Snap, Inc. SNAP – Our bearish signal on SNAP Friday led to success in the SNAP Weekly $20 Puts that we were watching. They gained 246% intraday running from .30-1.04.

Today, we want to reverse our strategy and go with some calls, the SNAP Weekly $22-23.50 Calls to be exact.

Moleculin Biotech, Inc. MBRX

We had MBRX in our extended watchlist yesterday, and were pleased with its solid performance on the day. The stock ran from 1.15 to a high of 1.51, which works out to a respectable intraday increase of 31% The move came on immense volume of more than 40X the 30-day average, so we’ll definitely be interested in continuing to track MBRX as we head into the end of the week.
