Blue Horseshoe Stocks: CGI Recap & More

Celadon Group Inc. CGI

Our first order of business this morning is to swing back around for a stock that we signaled our interest in back in May, which has subsequently gone on to put together a fantastic run up the chart.

When we tagged CGI on May 9th, the stock had recently fallen off of a cliff, and was attempting to recover off of its newly established lows. We observed a low PPS of 1.90 just a couple of sessions later, and that preceded one heck of a recovery. Yesterday, CGI streaked to new highs, coming up as the #4 top gainer on the NASDAQ, and reaching 5.15. That works out to a total increase of 171%

Having now recovered all of the ground it lost in early May, the chart still appears strong, and the next key resistance point we’ll look to see CGI make a run at is the current 200DMA of 5.95.

Options Ideas
We mentioned in the previous report that there would be a growing number of possible options trading opportunities as we neared the end of the week. This morning we’re looking at Facebook, Inc. FB, which reported yesterday post-market, and Anheuser-Busch InBev SA/NV (BUD), reporting this morning.

Each of them had beats, and are gapping up in the premarket. We’ll be monitoring the FB Weekly $172.50-180 Calls and the
BUD Weekly $120 & 125 Calls.

InfoSonics Corp. IFON

We also want to quickly recap the solid performance of IFON, which we tagged yesterday morning as a possible bottom bounce play, after seeing it test it 50 and 200DMA’s the previous day. The stock responded with another nice move from  .562 to .84, an intraday push of 49% on big time volume.

We’ll look for the establishment of higher lows and higher highs and for the stock to maintain its multi-day runner status, and for a break of resistance in the channel between yesterday’s swing high and a swing high back in April at 1.04.

Post-Earnings Options Success

Yesterday morning, a focus in our premarket report on Caterpillar and McDonald’s options proved to be a big success. Both companies exceeded expectations on their delivered earnings reports, and early activity suggested that opportunity was in the air.

We signaled multiple contracts for each of them, and no matter which chain and strike price was chosen, respectable intraday profits were there for the taking. The specific ideas we highlighted were the CAT Weekly $111-114 Calls, and the MCD Weekly $152.50 &155 Calls, and their subsequent moves were as follows:

Caterpillar, Inc. CAT
$111 Calls
– Range: 2.00-3.88 – Max Gain: 94%
$112 Calls – Range: 1.36-2.88 – Max Gain: 112%
$113 Calls – Range: .85-2.15 – Max Gain: 153%
$114 Calls – Range: .58-1.44 – Max Gain: 148%

McDonald’s Corp. MCD
$152.50 Calls – Range: 4.35-7.50 – Max Gain: 72%
$155 Calls – Range: 2.15-5.00 – Max Gain: 133%

We’re seeing marginal premarket pullbacks from each stock this morning, but will continue to keep an eye on these play as we head into week’s end.

Added Options Notes: Speaking of the end of the week, we’ve got an onslaught of big name earnings releases coming tomorrow and Friday, so expect the options intensity to ramp up quickly. We;ve got some fresh ideas today as well:

We also want to begin tracking a set of contracts in Chipotle Mexican Grill, Inc. CMG. We’ve been watching the stock get hammered down for the better part of the last two months, and yesterday it gave the reversal signal we’ve been looking for.Others have caught on as well, with the stock surging in premarket trading this morning. We’re going to be watching the CMG 8/11 $360-370 Calls.

Additionally, we’re also noticing a cherry of a chart setup on The Hershey Co. HSY, which, when paired with a big time beat on their own Q2 earnings, should make for a decent rebound. We’ll be staying on top of the HSY 08/18 $110 & 111 Calls.

AK Steel Holding Corp. AKS

We’ll also continue to keep an eye on AKS, which we tagged in yesterday’s report. The stock did rise, if only slightly (6.35-6.88), so we’ll want to track it for a more sustained run. It’s already trading above its 20 and 50-day moving averages- next we’d like to see it make a run at the 200DMA at 7.44.

Yesterday’s Options Ideas

The options ideas contained in yesterday’s premarket report ended up performing extremely well for us, further outlining why we focus so often on options trading.

For American Eagle Outfitters, Inc. AEO, we were interested in $15-16 Weekly Calls after noticing its earnings beat, and we met with possible gains in all cases:

-The $15 Calls traded as low as .80 before hitting a high of 1.25, a gain of 56%

-The 15.50 Calls traded as low as .30, and hit a subsequent high of .75; an intraday increase of 150%

-The 16$ calls traded as low as .16 and hit a high of .35, which is equal to a 118% move.

Abercrombie & Fitch ANF was trending in the opposite direction, so we ventured a few conservative ideas* for Weekly $23-24 Puts and the stock continued its decline throughout the session, enabling considerable profits:

-The $23 Puts saw a low of .87 low and closed at 2.74 for an impressive 215% run.

-The $23.50’s rose from a 1.20 low and ended up closing at 3.00, marking a 150% jump.

– The $24 Puts went from a 1.53 up as high as 3.84, an intraday gain of 151%

This morning, ANF is continuing its decline in premarket trading, so traders who chose to hold any of these contracts would be up even more than the figures listed here.

*Please note that the contracts we selected, while they obviously did extremely well, were fairly deep into the money so as to play it relatively safe. Traders looking to assume a bit more risk could have chosen to strike outside of the money, and it would have paid off in a big way. For an example, we can refer to the ANF $21 Puts which traded in a range from .10-.90. (+800%).

Infosonics Corp. IFON

After appearing in yesterday’s extended watchlist, IFON rapidly produced a hearty early-morning rip. The stock opened up at 2.34 and ran as high as 3.18 in the first ten minutes of trading! Quick-witted traders could have come away with rapid gains of up to 36%
