Blue Horseshoe Stocks: SGBY Recap & More

Signal Bay, Inc. SGBY

SGBY was one of last week’s top plays for us. We alerted the play at the beginning of the short week on Tuesday, and it responded with four straight sessions of higher highs and higher lows.

Friday’s move-up brought the stock from a daily low of .02 to a new high of .03, a 50% intraday gain. We had observed an ultimate low in the stock on Tuesday of .0103, meaning that over the course of the week, the total increase on SGBY was 191% Cheers to go out to anyone who was following along with us on this play.

With the kind of momentum the stock has built up at this point, we’ll be certain to reserve it a space on our watchlist as we kick off a fresh, full-length week.

VelocityShares Daily 2X VIX ST ETN (TVIX)

Our decision to submit TVIX to our morning report for tracking on Friday turned out to be a good one. The ETN is an inverse analog to the overall markets, and with a pretty good backslide for stocks, it consistently pushed the envelope all day.

It started by opening at 19.88 and spent the remainder of the day in perpetual uptick-mode. TVIX bulled its way to a daily high of 24.57 for an intraday move of 24% which is quite a solid jump for this price range.

TVIX appears to want to gap up further this morning, with a premarket high of 26.21. A continued backslide for the markets at large would certainly add to the gains we’ve already observed.

Two Rivers Water & Farming Co. TURV

We also want to swing back around to congratulate readers who picked up on our tag of TURV on Thursday, as we were met with a solid opportunity from this gainer as well.

From our observed low of .28 the stock managed to reach .50 Friday afternoon, marking an excellent two-day swing of 79% We’ll stick around and remain interested in TURV moving forward, provided it maintains support at or above .34 on any pullbacks.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: BCEI Review & More

Bonanza Creek Energy, Inc. BCEI

On an otherwise relatively quiet day, we observed a nice move in BCEI, a stock we’ve been tracking routinely for quite some time. The most recent occasion upon which we mentioned the stock was a few weeks back on August 18th, and we subsequently observed a low of .81.

Yesterday’s  move from 1.19 up to a new high of 1.41 was not only an intraday push of 18% but it also represented a total upswing of 74% over our observed low. It has been a fairly steady incline over the past ten sessions or so, and we’ll continue to monitor it higher highs and higher lows.

Other Updates

Signal Bay, Inc. SGBY – We alerted our readers to our interest in SGBY on Tuesday, and the entire week has been a a continual uptrend as it has recorded higher highs and higher lows every single day.

From Tuesday low of .0103 to yesterday’s new high at .0219, we’d seen a total three-session increase of 113% and it will remain on our radar going forward.
_____

Enteromedics, Inc. ETRM – We’ve got a history with ETRM that literally stretches back for years, and yesterday thought to re-signal the stock as it was showing a hint of life coming off of the new 52-week low it established just this week.

We mentioned that we’re going to keep an eye on it for a recovery over an extended period, but it fared pretty well in the short-term also, with a nice 21% move from .1383-.167. We’ll continue to track it for higher highs and higher lows in sessions to come.

InvestView, Inc. INVU

We spotted a possible subpenny bottom-play in INVU. It registered a new 52-week low of .0025 last week, traded in a daily range from .0031 up to .0041 yesterday, with accumulation/distribution picking up considerably in recent sessions.  We’re going to keep watch over this one for signs of a recovery off of these lows.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: State of the Cannabis Sector

State of the Cannabis Sector

Shockwaves rippled through the burgeoning cannabis sector yesterday, as the SEC imposed a halt on the trading of PHOT stock (effective through Apr. 24th). Being such a major player in this fledgling market space, the sanction on PHOT caused pot stocks across the board to register losses on the day. Coupled with the general backsliding of the overall markets, many of the pot stocks that we’ve been tracking ended in the red, however our overall feelings toward the sector have not changed.

This was not the first halt of a cannabis stock, with CANN having just resumed trading after its own halt just a few weeks ago. With the free-for-all that was taking place earlier this year at the height of the “Green Rush”, it is unsurprising that some have used the opportunity to take advantage, and only natural that the SEC would tend to these cases in such a manner.

The fact remains that many states have pending marijuana legislation on the docket for 2014, so we can be certain that we are only at the beginning of the story. Just look at the following map of the current state of marijuana law in the US:

As a whole, the progress that legalization proponents have made over just the past couple of years has been nothing short of astounding. In government, nothing happens overnight; it takes time to change laws, and the pace at which marijuana reform is occurring is impressive.

Bumps in the road like the PHOT halt (and others which are bound to occur) are to be expected, and in fact, makes the need for us to keep our fingers on the pulse of the cannabis space that much more vital. General pullbacks caused by fear and panic like the one we observed yesterday can often be used to acquire cheap stock, which in many cases will yield future opportunities.

AV1 Group, Inc. AVOP

One exception to the overall trend yesterday, was a recent successful marijuana-related call of ours, in AVOP. If you recall, when we brought this play to the table on Tuesday, the stock ran from a low of .0006 to .0015, gaining 150%

The following day, AVOP pushed to a high of .0018, moving our total possible gains on the stock up to 200% before coming down to find support in the .0012-.0014 range, which it held yesterday, despite pullbacks occurring all around the space.
