Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Shipping Watchlist & More

Shipping Sector Watchlist

Earlier this fall, we found an incredible amount of success within the shipping sector, as an industry-wide wave of bullish activity carried many related stocks to record moves.

That rush tuckered out a few weeks back, but we want to circle back around this morning to cast a light on several of these stocks that we think could be gearing up for a recovery. Each of the following had been in a drastic downturn leading into yesterday’s session, and each of them began to show some major signs of life in coming off their bottoms.

We’ll want to keep all of them in mind in coming sessions, and watch for signs that a more sustained uptrend could take effect.

Dry Ships, Inc. DRYS

Sino-Global Shipping America, Ltd. SINO

Diana Containerships, Inc. DCIX

Diana Shipping, Inc. DSX

Seanergy Maritime Holdings Corp. SHIP

Euroseas Ltd. ESEA

Global Ship Lease, Inc. GSL

Catalyst Biosciences, Inc. CBIO

We stipulated yesterday that if CBIO held above .80 on any early pullbacks, that we’d be interested in tracking its activity through the session, and it did just that.

The intraday machinations of the stock actually provided two separate opportunties for swing trades. First, the initial run out of the gate that took it from 1.12-1.42 (+27%) and a subsequent dip-and-rip pattern from .855 back to 1.12 later on in the day (+31%).

With volatility sufficient to provide over 50% in cumulative gains on the day, and the fact that it maintained support above our designated level, we’ll keep CBIO on our radar for the time being.

Eli Lilly and Co. LLY

On strong 2017 guidance released this week, LLY beat Wall Street’s forecast outlook estimates for the first time in 3 years. As a result, the stock started to climb, and has begun to fill a large gap on the chart to the upside.

What we want to do here is highlight both a short term and extended term options trading idea to correspond with the present situation. For swing trades this week, we’ll look at the LLY Weekly $72 and $72.50 Calls, and to take advantage of the possibility of an extended uptrend, the LLY 01/20 $75 Calls.

Options Updates

S&P 500 ETF (SPY) –
We tagged the SPY 11/23 $218.50-220 Calls for observation on Monday, and wanted to circle back around to relay the excellent moves it went on to make.

$218.50 Calls– Range: .90-2.24 – Max Gain: 149%
$219 Calls – Range: .58-1.83 – Max Gain: 216%
$219.50 Calls – Range: .35-1.30 – Max Gain: 271%
$220 Calls – Range: .19-.89 – Max Gain: 368%

Keep in mind that trading these today would essentially be akin to trading normal weekly contracts on a Friday, a risky venture that we always warn is to be attempted only by advanced traders.

______

Petroleo Brasiliero S.A. (Petrobras) PBR – PBR was the subject of another idea we formulated on Monday morning, and it too provided the activity we needed to see our highlighted targets post some solid performances. Our contracts of interest here were the PBR Weekly $9.50-10.50 Calls
and while they didn’t move quite as much as the SPY calls, the potential gains were still significant.

$9.50 Calls– Range: .68-1.00 – Max Gain: 47%
$10 Calls – Range: .30-.54 – Max Gain: 80%
$10.50 Calls – Range: .08-.21 – Max Gain: 163%

Unlike the aforementioned play, these contracts don’t expire until the end of the Friday’s half session (1PM).

Clean Coal Technologies, Inc. CCTC

The characteristic volatility that we’ve come to expect from CCTC showed it face this week, as the stock turned the bottom-bounce from the end of last week into a multi-day run that has persisted ever since.

We placed the stock on watch earlier this month, and after a short period of consolidation it finally established a base at .105, before running to yesterday’s new high of .2835. That marked a upswing totaling 170%

We’ll look for the possibility of a breach of the 200DMA currently sitting at .302, a break past which point would send the stock into blue skies, while keeping in mind that the volatility we mentioned could come into play. We’ll need to be open to the chance of the stock consolidating again before gearing up for another run. One thing’s for sure, the rapidity with which this play can cover large amounts of ground on the chart makes it worthy of continued observation.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Multiple Mid-Week Winners & More

Multiple Mid-Week Winners

Yesterday’s premarket report was chock-full of prime opportunities to strike it big with some fantastic intraday gains. Here they are in descending order of magnitude:

Diana Containerships, Inc. DCIX – Like DRYS, which we were tracking on such a monumental run that it got halted, DCIX is another play in the shipping sector, which has been the post-election hot ticket. After we tagged it in yesterday’s report, DCIX managed a hearty run from 8.27 to as high as 26.17, an intraday burst amounting to 216%
_____

Sino-Global Shipping America, Ltd. SINO – Tally up yet another shipper that we caught just in time to benefit from the rush on the sector. SINO was another inclusion in our Monday watchlist, and it too has produced a multi-bag surge. The stock traded in a range from 3.45 to 7.86 yesterday, allowing for up to 128% in single-session profits. From our observed low of 1.44 on Monday, it marked a three-day uptrend of 446%
_____

Bulova Technologies Group, Inc. BTGI – We also had a pair of subpenny plays put up solid numbers on the day yesterday. We tagged BTGI on Tuesday, observed a modest run on massive volume, and reiterated as much in yesterday’s report. The trend continued, as the stock ran from  .0036-.0059 (+64%) on over 5X its 30-day average volume. From our observed low of .00275 on Tuesday, it went down as an overall two-day swing of 115%
_____

SpectraScience, Inc. SCIE – Rounding out our list of nice gainers from yesterday is SCIE. The stock traded in a comparatively subdued, yet quite notable range from .0019-.003. That was good for gains of up to 58%

Added Notes:

Options Reminder – We also want to remind our readers of our successful hunch that Bank of America would be a good short yesterday. We saw modest gains in our target contracts, BAC Weekly $20.50-19.50 Puts, and will continue to track the added gains that are sure to be caused from another gap-down here in the premarket, and possible continued backslide today. We’ll provide an update on the activity and our total possible gains in tomorrow’s premarket report.

Shipping Watchlist – Granted the excellent activity in the shipping sector that we’ve been mentioning, we thought it would be a good idea to include a handful of other plays in the space to watch in addition the ones we’ve already mentioned this week: RLOG, GSL, CHNR, NMM, OSG, NAO.
