Our fresh options idea or the day yesterday on the heels of Facebook’s earnings beat, the FB Weekly $133-136 Calls ended up providing opportunities for sizable gains early on in the session.

FRESH IDEAS:

Amazon.com, Inc. AMZN – With Q4 earnings season in full swing, we will include another options idea based on the early activity in AMZN, which posted disappointing figures in its post-market release yesterday.

Here we’re going to be highlighting a range of puts that we feel stand to make decent gains, should AMZN’s fortunes play out as we suspect they might today. The targets we want to place on watch are going to be the AMZN Weekly $810-800 Puts.

______

SPDR S&P 500 ETF (SPY) – On the bullish side of things, solid jobs numbers could very well lead to an overall uptrend for the markets as a whole, so we’re going to want to designate an a corresponding idea for that.

Generally, we like to use the SPY as a market analog, so we’re going to signal a range of SPY calls to try to take advantage of the current conditions. Our target range here will be the SPY Weekly $227.50-229 Calls.

Cerulean Pharmaceuticals, Inc. CERU

We want to keep our eyes on CERU as we close out the week, and into next week, as the stock is currently boasting a chart that looks as if it could break out at any moment.

As you can see, the stock has been gradually building a higher base of support off of annual lows recorded in the fall, and yesterday, really started to make a bullish move. We’re seeing a slight gap-up this morning to just below the resistance channel between 1.20 and 1.30. As we’ve pointed out below, there is a huge gap on the chart to the upside, and a breach of that channel would begin to fill it in.

This is a stock that we feel could easily make a 100% move inside of the next few sessions, so we will want to watch carefully.

DryShips, Inc. DRYS – Update

We wanted to start things off this morning by providing an update and some reactive commentary on DRYS, whose massive surge from early this week was stopped in its tracks yesterday.

After the mammoth run we tracked it over from 13.60 on Monday to Tuesday’s high of 102.00 (+650%), the stock was halted, and only resumed trading yesterday. What followed was a massive selloff that we did caution would be forthcoming in Wednesday’s report, stating that we’d want to be ready to take advantage of a potential dip-and-rip when that occurred.

That’s why we wanted to remind our readers of the situation today, and put the stock on bottom-watch. Rebounds are often proportional to the surges that preceded them, and if that holds true here, the bounce on DRYS when it reverses could be significant.

Solaris Power Cells, Inc. SPCL

Next up is SPCL, which we began watching for a bottom on Tuesday, and after realizing that bottom the following session, the stock has made quite a respectable move. It traded in a range from it’s low of .0041 on Wednesday, to a new high of .0098 yesterday.

That worked out to a two-day swing of 139% We’ll continue to monitor this play, and will look for the registering of higher lows and a breach from subpenny into penny territory.

Amazon.com, Inc. AMZN – Options Idea

We’re taking a look at Amazon this morning for a possible options play. The stock has been building a nice head of steam over the past few sessions, and appears to want to continue that trend today. To take advantage in the event of a continued uptrend, we’ll signal a range of options contracts, the AMZN Weekly $757.50-762.50 Calls.

*Please remember that highly-experienced options traders are the only people who should ever attempt to trade weekly expiring options on a Friday.

Options Roundup

We had put a couple of options ideas in place as we closed out the trading week on Friday, and found success across the board.

Amazon.com, Inc. AMZN – It took the better part of the entire morning on Friday for things to heat up for our AMZN puts, but once they did, it sent our highlighted options contracts on one heck of a ride. Those were the AMZN Weekly $780-772.50 Puts and they allowed for profits both approaching and exceeding ten-bagger territory!

Between roughly noon and 3PM, we saw an significant move to the downside which facilitated the following enormous gains:

$780 Puts – Range: .46-4.80 – Max Gain: 943%
$777.50 Puts – Range: .28-3.32 – Max Gain: 1085%
$775 Puts – Range: .14-1.80 – Max Gain: 1185%
$772.50 Calls – Range: .08-1.03 – Max Gain: 1187%

_____

Royal Caribbean Cruises, Ltd RCL – The contracts we chose for the RCL chain were the RCL 11/18 $67.50-72.50 Calls. These are extended term contracts with plenty of time left until expiration, which explains why the premiums were so high, and the moves were of a lesser magnitude than AMZN. Still, for a first day, we did see some notable gain opportunities, including a double-bagger:

$67.50 Calls – Range: 5.30-7.80 – Max Gain: 47%
$70 Calls – Range: 3.30-5.80 – Max Gain: 76%
$72.50 Calls – Range: 1.70-3.85 – Max Gain: 126%

Axion Power International, Inc. AXPW

We want to circle back to this old familiar play, which up until the past couple of weeks, had been on a continuous downslide for quite some time. Due to a number of factors, we’ll be interested in tracking the stock’s progress off of its recently registered annual lows.

On Friday, the stock made a nice move and temporarily cracked the 50DMA at .0131, which will be the key area of resistance of which we’ll be watching for a sustained break. As you can see on the chart below, the stock recently woke up off of being heavily oversold for an extended period, and we’re going to want to track every step of its recovery.
