Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Recap on RPRX, JNUG, Others

Repros Therapeutics, Inc. RPRX

The primary attraction to come off of our report on Friday was definitely RPRX. The stock had one heck of a solid session, building steadily all day long. It traded from a morning low of 7.66, and reached as high as 10.25 just prior to the close, and did so on volume which exceeded the 3-month average by nearly eight times. That’s a really impressive run from a stock in this price range.

We originally caught RPRX on October 17th after catching the stock gapping down to 52-week lows, and measuring from the low we observed subsequent to that report (5.97), Friday’s high represented an overall increase of 71%

Direxion Daily Jr Gld Mnrs Bull 3X ETF (JNUG)

Also jumping off of Friday’s extended watchlist with a good showing was JNUG. We seemed to have timed our mention of this ETF quite well, with gold prices having bounced off of their annual low on Thursday, it set the stage for JNUG to make a respectable intraday day for us.

It traded in a range from 3.59-4.44, gaining as much as 24% on considerable volume, to the tune of 4.5X it’s 3-month average.

JNUG could be an interesting play moving forward providing the rebound in the price of gold is sustained, so that will be one of the things we’ll be interested to watch for as we kick off a new trading week.

Dendreon Corp. DNDN

DNDN is taking a massive premarket pounding this morning in the wake of the company’s filing for Chapter 11 protection. It’s worth noting, despite the forthcoming restructuring, the company will continue to produce and distribute its PROVENGE immunotherapy treatment, and has declared that it “has significant liquidity to support all of its operations during the restructuring process, with approximately $100 million of cash, cash equivalents and investments on hand as of November 7, 2014” >> View PR

Because of the nature of the situation, we’ll be exercising extreme caution, but we still want to monitor the stock for a bottom and subsequent bounceplay opportunities that could come as a result.

Extended Watchlist:
ACHN, IBIO, ARQL, DVAX, UEC, OIBR

ARIA, PVG, ATRM, TEMN, INVA & Extended Watchlist

ARIAD Pharmaceuticals, Inc.  ARIA

ARIA is the first of three solid winners to come off of our Extended Watchlist from Friday morning. The stock began by touching a daily low of 3.30, followed by a run into the 4.04 high, marking the opportunity for intraday gains of up to 33%

Just a word of caution, the company has a pending lawsuit in which it is being sued by a multiple plaintiffs in a securities fraud case that will commence next month. On October 9, 2013, the Company announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration placed a partial clinical hold on all new patient enrollment in clinical trials of Iclusig, following reports of non-serious and serious adverse events in Iclusig-treated patients. Following this news, the price of ARIAD shares dropped nearly 66%, or $11.31 per share, from the previous day’s closing price of $17.14 per share, to a closing price of $5.83 per share on October 9, 2013, on extremely heavy volume.

As a result, investors who purchased ARIA stock between Dec.’11 and Oct.’13 are eligible to take part in the class-action suit.

Pretium Resources, Inc.  PVG

PVG was another substantial gainer for us on Friday, bringing us gains to the tune of 48% as the stock tore out of the gate, pausing only briefly near its low of 3.93 before skyrocketing as high as 5.80 early in the session. For the remainder of the day, PVG held much of those daily gains, and managed a strong close at 5.32.

That kind of momentum makes PVG a good candidate for a possible continuation of momentum, so we want to make sure we’re paying close attention as we begin this short trading-week.

Aetrium, Inc. ATRM

ATRM is another one that came out of the gate with guns blazing on Friday. After opening at 8.46, the stock spiked sharply to a morning high of 10.45, nice 24% move.

Later in the session, we observed a bounce from 5.60 back up to 6.68, which added an opportunity for an additional 19% gain, bringing the total cumulative gains for ATRM to a very respectable 43%

When added to the gains we saw from our other selections, our total possible gains for Friday’s session topped out at 124% All in a day’s work!

Team Nations Corp. TEMN
&
Inova Technologies, Inc. INVA

We observed these two sub-penny plays hitting our scanner on Friday, trading substantial volume. We want to be on the lookout for any possible continuation of momentum heading into this week.

In the case of INVA, the stock was trading at more than a penny as recently as October, and is now coming off of a bottom, so it will interesting to see how much of its lost ground it can gain back. A return to October levels would mean gains up to and exceeding 100% from its current price.

DUSS, AAPL, STWG & Extended Watchlist

Dussault Apparel, Inc. DUSS

Our first alert on DUSS came last Wednesday the 16th, at which point the stock jumped from .001-.0015, giving us the chance at intraday gains of up to 50%  DUSS would repeat this action the following day, once again bouncing from .001 to .0015.

We had DUSS on our watchlist once again on the 23rd following a sell-off from previous highs, and were just in time to catch a low of .0009, and watch the stock jump 44% to yesterday’s close at .0013. Highly volatile plays like this one are not for the faint-of-heart, and while extreme caution should be employed in trading such stocks, it’s plain to see that they can also facilitate a multitude of rapid-gain opportunities.

Apple, Inc. AAPL – Options

AAPL has continued its uptrend all week, and the 11/01 $505 Calls that we’ve been tracking since 10/16 have continued their ascent as well. They’ve now reached 32.53 from where we began in the $12-range. The $510 Calls, starting out at $10 have charged as high as  28.91.

On Tuesday, we talked about moving our strike price closer to the money, while AAPL was trading in the high $520’s; we then saw a pullback to $508, and traders could have jumped into the $525 contracts at a deep discount. They went as low as 9.50, and yesterday touched a 19.70 high en route to a strong close at 19.35.

That’s the second time in the past week that our options ideas have yielded possible gains in the triple digits. We are going to stay on top of Apple as the earnings release on the 28th approaches. Historically, the stock has a tendency to run into earnings announcements in addition to high volatility on the day of release. We’ll be ready and waiting to time our plays accordingly.

S2C Global Systems, Inc. STWG

We caught STWG on a volume scan back in December of last year. In subsequent months it ended up showing us a huge move from sub-penny levels up to .02, and presenting the chance at quadruple-digit gains, as some of our long-time readers might remember.

We are looking toward STWG once again, as it seems momentum has been picking up recently; volume has been increasing and accumulation is at an all-time high. We are going to be monitoring for a move past that previous swing-high at .02, which would trigger a blue sky breakout.

BARCHART.COM currently lists STWG with 100% “Buy” Ratings in both the short and medium term.
