Blue Horseshoe Stocks: SPEX, Options Recaps & More

Spherix Corp. SPEX

After initially signaling our interest in SPEX on June 20th, we’ve seen quite a run out of the stock as its gone from a low of .9505, and streaked to new highs this week.

SPEX gained some good ground on Wednesday, and yesterday morning we urged readers to look out for a momentum continuation– that’s precisely what came to pass. From daily low of 2.83 the stock streaked to 4.75. That went down as an intraday push of 68% and a total increase since we’ve been tracking this play amounting to a whopping 400% in barely a week’s time.

Volume remained strong, with SPEX trading more than 40X the monthly average volume on the day. We’ll want to see it continue to build higher base levels of support and hopefully continue to push the upper envelope.

CHF Solutions, Inc. CHFS

Also tagged in yesterday’s premarket report was CHFS, and it too made a pretty good move on the day. Volume was just dribbling in over the course of the morning, but shortly after lunch hour, the stock sprung into action.

From a low of .70 it reached as high as 1.08, which represents a 54% intraday pop. Our observed increase has been extended this morning as well, with premarket trading carrying CHFS even higher. Given the fact that this move was catalyzed by an FDA approval notice, we wouldn’t be surprised at all to see this blossom into a multi-day runner.

Chicago Bridge & Iron Co. CBI – Options Update

On Wednesday morning, we highlight a range of contracts in the CBI chain that we were interested in tracking, the CBI Weekly $20-22 Calls. As happens more often than not when we set our sights on an options play, every single contract has been good for sizable gains since our alert.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Reviewing June Winners & More

Moleculin Biotech,  Inc. MBRX

We wanted to circle back for an update on MBRX this morning, a stock that we signaled on June 21st, after noticing some abnormal activity the session prior.

Shortly thereafter we would witness a low of .96 in the stock, from which it would never look back. MBRX has been on a multi-day tear, with things really heating up yesterday. It ripped its way to a new high of 3.38, on more than 16 times the monthly average volume. That represents a total rise of 252%

We’ll continue to stay hot on the trail of MBRX for as long as it continues to build higher base levels of support.

Spherix Corp. SPEX

The day before the above-mentioned play, on June 20th, we highlighted SPEX after noticing the stock trading near a bottom, and it has been one heck of a ride since that time. We’ve seen this play run from a low of .9505 all the way up to 2.23.

The bulk of that move came in yesterday’s session wherein the stock also traded massive volume, so we’ll be on the lookout for a possible momentum spillover as we head into week’s end.

TrovaGene Inc. TROV

It was back on June 12th that we initially slated TROV for observation. The stock had been trending up off of recent relative lows since the beginning of this month.

Subsequent to our alert, we would witness a low of .85 in the stock and despite some swing-action, TROV has been in a general uptrend ever since.. As of the new high achieved in this morning’s premarket (1.60) it marks an increase of 88%

Constellation Brands, Inc. STZ – Options Idea

We’ve used the STZ optuions chain to our advantage in the past. The most recent occasion was last April, when we scored multibag gains with $155 Calls. The stock has been in serious growth-mode since then, and with a hearty, untraded-upon Q1 earnings beat this morning, we want to signal a range of contracts to watch once again.

The stock is gapping up to the $200-range today, and we’re going to be waiting in the wings with the STZ 07/21 $190-210 Calls.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: DXTR, Options Recaps & More

Dextera Surgical, Inc. DXTR

Among our extended watchlist plays slated for observation in yesterday’s premarket report, was DXTR, a stock that we intially tagged on June 1st, and in which we witnessed a subsequent low of .1745. We included a second reminder on June 12th, and of course once again yesterday morning.

Yesterday the stock put up a fine intraday performance en route to setting new highs for us. From its daily low of .275, it ran as high as .3855, which comes out to a 40% jump. From our original low earlier this month, DXTR has risen 121% Volume over the past week has picked up considerably, and yesterday the stock traded more than five times its monthly average volume.

It also held more than half of its daily gains on that volume. In such instances, we always lookout for a continuation of momentum into the ensuing session.

Darden Restaurants, Inc. DRI – Options Idea

In the wake of a hearty earnings beat on DRI, whose chains include Olive Garden, Red Lobster and LongHorn Steakhouse among others, we focused on some options ideas, the DRI 07/21 $90-97.50 Calls.

While the moves weren’t quite on the level of many of our options calls, which often yield percentage gains in the hundreds and thousands, there’s still plenty of time before expiration and all the contracts in our observed range got off to a solid start.

$90 Calls – Range: 3.40-5.70 – Max Gain: 68%
$92.50 Calls – Range: 1.94-3.50 – Max Gain: 80%
$95 Calls – Range: 1.02-1.95 – Max Gain: 91%
$97.50 Calls – Range: .52-.94 – Max Gain: 81%

As we pointed out, these contracts don’t expire for a few weeks, so we’ll continue to keep an eye out for further activity in DRI.

Sophiris Bio, Inc. SPHS – Update

We want to keep SPHS on watch as well. We tagged this as a bottom play on Monday, and it has since made a modest move from a low of 2.07 to 2.41. While it just works out to a nominal gain of 16% so far, we’ll remain interested for as long as it maintains its new trend of recording higher highs and higher lows as it has each day this week.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: MARA, AVEO Recaps & More

Marathon Patent Group, Inc. MARA

Our initial alert on MARA came on Thursday morning along with a low of .22, as we were just mentioning in yesterday’s premarket report. We had already seen a 100% move on Friday leading into yesterday’s session. We mentioned that MARA could see the .50 range or better yesterday before the session kicked off, and it’s as if we had a crystal ball.

MARA ran from .3718 – .5515 on the day, a 48% push, extending our total observed range on the stock from last Thursday until now, to an impressive 151%

AVEO Pharmaceuticals, Inc. AVEO

After signaling AVEO on Friday morning and watching it set a new 52-week high on the day on enormous volume, we doubled down in yesterday’s report, stating that we wanted to continue to track its progress for continued upward activity, and it was good thing we did.

AVEO wasnt finished, and yesterday’s session was the strongest performance we’ve seen yet. The stock ran fom 1.33 to 2.11 for a 58% intraday rip, and a total two-session swing over our observed low on Friday (1.05) of 100%

Rennova Health, Inc. (Warrants) RNVAZ

We tagged RNVAZ in yesterday’s premarket watchlist, and it turned out to be a great play for the day. It traded up from a low of .05 to as much as .1446 inside of the first 40 minutes of the session.

That worked out to an intraday pop of 189% and it happened on a daily volume of more than 21X the monthly average.

Darden Restaurants, Inc. DRI – Options Idea

DRI (owner of Olive Garden) posted boosted sales and outlook in an impressive earnings beat, and we want to signal a range of options to coincide with what could be a surge of bullish activity. We’ll be focusing our attention on the DRI 07/21 $90-97.50 Calls for potential swing trades.

Vivint Solar, Inc. VSLR

We tagged VSLR back on May 18th at a low of 2.75. On Friday, we were just mentioning how the stock had continued to bull its way up the chart, and we’ve yet to see a down day in nearly twenty trading sessions.

Yesterday VSLR hit a new high of 5.85 marking a total swing of 113% over our witnessed low, and closed at that mark as well. At some point very soon the growth will become unsustainable, granted how overbought the stock is at the moment, but for what it’s worth, to this point, VSLR has been one of the most steady risers we’ve seen in recent weeks.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Multiple Winners & More

Marathon Patent Group, Inc. MARA

We initially brought MARA into the fold on Thursday morning, when we highlighted it in our premarket report as a bottom-bouncer. The stock had just made a considerable move of off its recent relative lows the session prior, and looked set to continue into a multi-day run.

That certainly came to pass, with a solid performance on Thursday leading into yet another for Friday. On Thursday we observed a low of .22 and a moderate run into the .30’s but Friday, things ramped up to another level with MARA running from .24-.48 for an even 100% move on the day and a total rise of 118% over a two-day span.

That’s certainly a heck of a bottom-bouncer call. If things were to progress in a similar fashion to kick off the new trading week, today MARA could be looking at the fifty-cent range or better.

Defense Technologies International, Corp. DTII

We tagged DTII in Friday morning’s extended watchlist, and were very pleased with the solid intraday performance yielded by the play. The stock ran from a low of .0042 to as high as .0075 on the day, marking a move of 79%

The PPS pop was accompanied by a considerable influx of volume, on the order of more than six times the monthly average of shares changing hands. The past two sessions, in terms of price action and liquidity, have blown all others of the past few months out of the water, so we’re interested in seeing whether the stock can sustain this level of activity moving forward.

AVEO Pharmaceuticals, Inc. AVEO

We also tagged AVEO on Friday morning for the first time in a couple years, and the stock promptly turned around and set a new 52-week high on the day.  While the move itself was relatively modest, running 31% from 1.05 to 1.38, it did occur on mammoth volume, just a hair shy of 22X times the monthly average volume.

It did lose having held more than half of its daily advance, and is gapping up slightly in the premarket today, so we’ll definitely keep a slot reserved for AVEO on our watchscreens as we kick things off today.

Bed Bath and Beyond, Inc. BBBY – Options Recap

We went bearish on Bed Bath & Beyond on Friday with a set of options contracts to follow in the wake of their disappointing quarterly results, and it turned out to be a fantastic idea.

Our targets were the BBBY Weekly $31.50-30.50 Puts and regardless of which strike point was chosen, sizable gains were there for the taking:

$31.50 Puts – Range: 1.07-2.07 – Max Gain: 93%
$31 Puts – Range: .64-1.58 – Max Gain: 147%
$30.50 Puts – Range: .31-1.05 – Max Gain: 239%

Adobe Systems Inc. ADBE – Options Recap

We signaled some options for the ADBE chain on Wednesday, and the stock finished the week strong, and we witnessed some nice gains there as well. We were looking at the ADBE 06/30 $147 & $148 Calls, and both ideas have worked out nicely thus far.

The $147’s traded up from .35-.62 (+77%) while the $148’s ran from .17-.35 (+106%). Granted the nature of Friday’s session for ADBE, and these contracts not expiring until the end of this week, we wouldn’t be at all surprised to see these gains extended before it’s all said and done.
