Blue Horseshoe Stocks: CNAT Recap & More

Conatus Pharmaceuticals, Inc. CNAT

We were fairly confident that at least one of the pharma news plays we put forth in yesterday’s premarket report would turn out a promising session, and CNAT definitely rose to the occasion.

We highlighted it, of course, because of a big collaboration and licensing deal for one of the company’s drugs, which adds a quick $50M cash to the books almost immediately, and even more down the road.

After gapping up considerably in the premarket, the stock underwent a dip-and-rip scenario which carried it to a daily low of 4.27 before it pushed its way up to a high of 5.50. That marked a solid intraday upswing of 29% and came on four times the three-month average volume.

ACADIA Pharmaceuticals, Inc. ACAD

ACAD was the other play off of our pharma watchlist that provided us with significant opportunities, which were even bigger than the previously mentioned stock.

We offered an options idea, the ACAD Weekly $28-31 Calls, and all but a couple sets of contracts in that range produced respectable intraday moves.

$28 Calls – Range: .70-1.66 – Max Gain: 137%
$28.50 Calls – Range: .59-1.40 – Max Gain: 137%
$29 Calls – Range: .40-.80 – Max Gain: 100%
$29.50 Calls – Range: .30-.70 – Max Gain: 133%
$30 Calls – Range: .18-.50 – Max Gain: 178%

NIKE, Inc. NKE – Fresh Options Idea

NKE is coming off a post-market earnings beat yesterday, so we want to enter an idea into the logs for this situation.

We’re going to be monitoring the activity in the NKE Weekly $52.50-54 Calls for possible daytrades and/or swing trades into the end of the week.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Pharma Watchlist & More

Actinium Pharmaceuticals, Inc. ATNM

We want to start things off this morning by taking a look at ATNM, for a couple of reasons. First, from a technical standpoint, the chart appears to be coming off of a relative bottom, and a number of indicators suggest that a sizable upswing could occur in coming sessions.

Those include a MACD and Histogram that look to be gearing up for a possible cross into bullish territory. Each of the past two times that occurred, the stock saw an appreciable move to the upside. The RSI also looks to be coming off of being oversold- we’ll be looking for a break of that 50-line, and the registering of higher lows and higher highs as ATNM attempts to establish a continued trend off of its recent lows.

The other factor that is indirectly drawing us to ATNM is the fact that it operates in the Pharma sector, which is sure to be at the forefront of the news with a couple of huge buyouts. Pfizer has bought Anacor (ANAC) and Luminex bought Nanosphere (NSPH). Whenever we see groundbreaking events happening in biopharma, there tends to be a rise in overall activity for the industry.

That’s why, in addition to ATNM, we’ll be placing the following couple of stocks on watch as we kick off another trading week: Inovio Biomedical, Inc. INO, and Sorrento Therapeutics, Inc. SRNE

3D Systems Corp. DDD

After an impressive run-up on the chart which lasted from January to April, DDD has taken a pretty substantial pounding in the month of May.

The stock came down to bounce off of its 200DMA on Thursday, and recorded higher highs and higher lows on Friday. We’ll look for a continuation of that trend into today, and monitor DDD for a possible recovery. We will need to see the stock hold support at or above the current 200DMA of 11.73 on any pullbacks in order for it to hold our interest. A return to its PPS levels from the end of April from this juncture would produce potential gains of at least 50%

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: FCEL, AQXP Recaps & More

Aquanox Pharmaceuticals, Inc. AQXP

AQXP was among the stocks that we presented in yesterday’s premarket report, as we were catching it a couple of days after some really positive developments were announced by the company. Despite already being up significantly at that point, our instincts to include it in our daily interests proved to be well-founded.

The stock made a monstrous move right out of the starting gate from 17.56-55.75, a walloping 217% initial rip, followed by an extreme pullback. The activity in AQXP was so abnormally volatile that trading was temporarily halted. AQXP stock is presently gapping up in premarket trading as high as 38.74 so far this morning.

Familiar Bottom-Bouncers

Yesterday was an interesting session in that we noticed an unusually high number of stocks with which we are very familiar, making some excellent moves off of their recently-attained low-points.

FuelCell Energy, Inc. FCEL – FCEL had been on a continuous backslide for many weeks. The company released a positive PR (Link Below) and things took off from there, as you can see on the included chart. We’ll be looking for the stock to maintain at least half of the advance it made yesterday on any pullbacks.

___

Inovio Pharmaceuticals, Inc. INO

INO also had a big day generated by a PR. The company entered into a partnership with AstraZeneca to provide its cancer treatment in a deal that could reportedly bring as much as $700M in revenue INO’s way. (>>>Get More Details). We are well-acquainted with this stock, having last mentioned it just a couple of weeks ago. We’ll be keen to track the ensuing activity after yesterday’s major revelation, and roughly 30% increase on the day.

___

Other stocks that we routinely discuss that also made appreciable moves off of relative lows yesterday were Voltari Corp. VLTC, Dominovas Energy Corp. DNRG, and Ascent Solar Technologies, Inc. ASTI. Those familiar bottom-bouncers were joined by New Source Energy Partners. NSLP, a newcomer to our reports. We’ll be watching the whole lot as the week progresses. Continued gains, as well as possible dip-and-rip scenarios could be in the cards for any and/or all of them!

Fresh Options Ideas

We’ve got a nice selection of new options-trading possibilities to enter into the mix today:

Shake Shack, Inc. SHAK -  Shake Shack beat on earnings  yesterday and is gapping up in the premarket today. As a result we are going to be taking a look at Weekly $72-76 Calls for potential chances at intraday/intraweek flips.

Apple, Inc. AAPL -  We’ve had a lot of success with AAPL Options in both the distant and recent past, and a new, longer-term idea to monitor in coming weeks is going to be the Sept. 18th $120-122 Calls.

Twitter, Inc. TWTR - For a prospective idea in the TWTR chain, we’ll stretch our target period out to that same Sept. 18th expiration, and track the 9/18 TWTR $30-32 Calls.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: SOPW News, PTN on Bottom Watch

Solar Power, Inc. SOPW

SOPW is the first of a couple of news plays that we’re going to be taking a look at this morning. The company has announced the initiation of a 6-month long share repurchase program wherein it will obtain up to $50M of its common stock from the open market.

Xiaofeng Peng, Chairman of SPI stated, “The implementation of our share repurchase program reflects the confidence that our Board and management have in SPI’s growth prospects and our commitment to enhance value for our shareholders while retaining adequate flexibility for future growth.” >>> READ FULL PR

In addition to the favorable PR that, in and of itself would be enough to gain our attention, SOPW has also been searching for a bottom over the past few weeks, and we’ll want to be hanging around when it finds one, as the subsequent rebound could be considerable.

Palatin Technologies, Inc. PTN

PTN has capitalized on the FDA’s recommendation for the first ever treatment for a disorder that affects the female sex drive. The company itself has a similar treatment that is currently enrolling women for Phase-3 trials.

As a result of this heightened attention, this morning, the stock is gapping up over 50% in the premarket. We’re going to tag it for observation, because the potential for a dip-and-rip in situations like these is ever-present.

LinkedIn Corp. LNKD -  Options

Our LNKD Weekly Options Calls that we brought into the mix on Wednesday continued to pay dividends for the second consecutive session yesterday. We wanted to give a quick update on the ranges and total gains that have been possible with those contracts over a two-day span:

$207.50′s – Range: 4.20-9.29 – Max Gain: 119%
$210′s – Range: 2.60-7.30 – Max Gain: 181%

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Winning TSLA Calls, VGGL Recap & More

Tesla Motors, Inc. TSLA – Options

On Friday we mentioned some longer-term options-trading ideas for TSLA Calls, and it didn’t take more than a couple trading days for them to bear fruit.

As our regular readers are aware by now, we often like to monitor an entire range of strike prices following a key development, and TSLA’s earnings release last midweek provided the fuel for our success in this case. We pointed to 05/22 $230-240 Calls, and every set of contracts in that range made a sizable run from their lows on Friday to impressive highs during yesterday’s session. Here’s a breakdown of their performances:

$230 Calls  – Friday’s Low: 6.85 – Yesterday’s High: 13.50 (Closed: 10.30) – Max Gain: 97%

$232.50 Calls  – Friday’s Low: 5.32 – Yesterday’s High: 11.25 (Closed: 8.65) – Max Gain: 111%

$235 Calls  – Friday’s Low: 5.96 – Yesterday’s High: 10.60 (Closed: 8.70) – Max Gain: 78%

$237.50 Calls  – Friday’s Low: 3.16 – Yesterday’s High: 7.60 (Closed: 5.00) – Max Gain: 140%

$240 Calls  – Friday’s Low: 3.84 – Yesterday’s High: 7.50 (Closed: 5.75) – Max Gain: 95%

We are pleased with the progress we’ve seen thus far in these contracts, and we’re interested to see what the next nine trading days will bring leading up to their expiration.

Viggle, Inc. VGGL

Our next order of business this morning is to point out the solid move made by VGGL after we included the stock in yesterday morning’s extended watchlist. Catalyzed by favorable quarterly results (link below), it traded in a range from 3.00 to 4.24; a very respectable intraday move of 41%.

The spike came on roughly 25X the 3-month average volume and VGGL managed to close in the mid-3.70′s, holding the majority of its daily gains. Whenever we see a confluence of these two phenomena, we always want to keep our eyes peeled for a carryover of momentum into subsequent sessions.

52% Year-over-Year Revenue Growth and 116% Increase in Net Registered Users as Viggle Celebrates Its Three-Year Anniversary (Mon, May 11)

Plug Power, Inc. PLUG

Our longer-term subscribers might remember the epic run we tracked in PLUG when we caught the stock coming off its all-time lows near a dime back in 2013. The lowest price we observed following our initiation of coverage on this play was .135 on 02/28/13. It led us on a long and exciting journey to a high of 11.72 nearly a year later, and from then on has held a spot on our list of all-time best calls.

More recently, in 2015, PLUG has been on an overall downtrend that carried the stock to new annual low of 2.32. Yesterday, we observed PLUG coming up off of those lows and hitting a high of 2.65, so we’re going to re-radar this as a potential recovery play. If it can crack through the 50DMA of 2.66, we could be in line to see a more sustained uptrend.

We’ve illustrated the key resistance points on the following chart snapshot:
