Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Potential Bottom-Plays & More

 Bottom-Watch Plays

We want to start things off this morning by highlighting a couple of stocks on the higher exchanges that are both currently trading at a low multiple. Stocks that trade on the NASDAQ and NYSE at less than a dollar per share for at least a month can face de-listing procedures, so companies in danger of this tend to go to great lengths to buoy their stock price.

We’re always on the lookout for possible bottom plays so we’re going to be tracking both of the following in coming sessions.

Cobalt International Energy, Inc. CIE – The de-listing alarm bells haven’t quite gone off yet at with CIE, as the PPS just fell below a buck toward the end of last month. The stock also has a recent track record of brief periods of sub-1.00 trading from which it has promptly recovered each time.

This leads us to believe that the company may not even get to the point of receiving a notice from the NYSE before share price sees a recovery. We’re going to want to be on the lookout for that potential rebound.

______

Alliqua Biomedical, Inc. ALQA – In the case of ALQA, a NASDAQ play, the situation is a bit more pressing. Shares fell below the dollar mark at the beginning of September, and the company did receive its ‘failure to satisfy listing requirement’ notice back in October. The PPS has lagged ever since, and has only until the end of April to re-attain the dollar mark, or face delisting.

We’ll be interested to follow along to see what efforts are untaken to once again satisfy listing requirements. In the meantime, the stock has found a reasonably solid base of support off of recent lows, so we’ll be on the lookout for possible rebounds.

Viacom, Inc. VIAB – Options Idea

Our regular readers know full well that we love a good earnings-related options idea, and that’s what we’ve got this morning with Viacom. The company just posted an impressive earnings beat, along with strategic guidance updates that has the stock rocking in the premarket.

We’re going to be keeping our eyes open upon the opening bell, and tracking the activity in the VIAB Weekly $44-45.50 Calls.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: BOTY Recap & More

Lingerie Fighting Championships, Inc. BOTY

We placed BOTY on watch on Friday after noticing that the stock had begun to launch off of its bottom, posting unusual activity the session prior. It was a good thing that we tagged it when we did, because Friday brought an even more considerable surge to the updside.

BOTY traded in a range from a low of .0056, cracking through the penny barrier, and reaching as high as .015. That was good for intraday gains of up to 168% and the excellent move came on volume of nearly six times the monthly average.

As the company name suggests, BOTY’s business is an actual women’s MMA league where the combatants wear lingerie instead of athletic wear. Being something so unique and potentially lucrative, it adds to our interest in continuing to track this play.

Solaris Power Cells, Inc. SPCL

SPCL is another one we want to provide an update on this morning. We initially witnessed a fantastic run from .0075 to .02 on this play when we called it back on 11/18, and after a period of consolidation in the following weeks, we observed the beginning of the stock’s next leg up on Friday.

SPCL traded in a daily range from a new low of .0041 and promptly returned to .02. That’s a big-time swing of 387%

Bridgegate Pictures Corp. BBGP

The run that BBGP made between the months of August and November this year was excellent, moving from the .20-range to more than 2.70. A recent dramatic selloff slapped the stock back down to the .20-level and just below, before the current bottom-bounce commenced.

We’re interested in tracking BBGP from this juncture in the event that the momentum we’re seeing gathered off of those lows should continue into this new trading week.

Insulet Corp. PODD – Options Idea

We’ve formulated an options trading idea for PODD, after noticing a few things about the stock. First, it’s in a good place on the chart, having exhibited the beginning sign of a bottom-bounce on Friday, reversing a downtrend that had persisted for over a week.

Next, we caught a Form-4 submission showing a significant buy by the CEO, in the amount of roughly $1.3M at the stock’s lows. Whenever we see directors of a company adding shares at relative lows, it piques our interest.

Accordingly, we are going to radar a set of contracts to watch in sessions to come, namely the PODD 01/20 $35 Calls.

Options Updates

Barracuda Networks, Inc. CUDA On Friday, we had just caught CUDA coming off of a heavy earnings beat, and we signaled our interest in a couple sets of contracts in the options chain to correspond with the expected activity. Specifically the CUDA 07/15 $15 and $17.50 Calls.  It was a good thing that we did, because what followed were some eye-popping gain opportunities!

The $15’s have now traded up from a low of 2.55 to a high of 6.53, for an excellent swing of 156%, while the $17.50’s have amazingly run from .60 to as much as 4.10, a huge 583% rip!

______

Petroleo Brasiliero S.A. (Petrobras) PBR – We’ve drawn off of the PBR well countless times in the past, and our most recent idea, the PBR 07/15 $6.50 and $7 Calls (which we submitted on the morning of June 29th) has paid off with a couple of sizable swings.

In the roughly two weeks since we tabbed these plays for observation, we saw the $6.50 Calls run first from .30-1.07 (+256%), followed by a dip back to .35 and a rip back to 1.27 (+263%). The $7’s provided similar, yet even bigger action as they initially saw a move from .15-.69 (+360%), followed by a second from .14-.85 (+507%).

We expect the gains mentioned here to be extended as PBR is gapping up again this morning, and we may need to consider rolling up our strike prices to the $7.50 and $8 Calls as the situation dictates.

Gold Resource Corp. GORO

We also want to provide an update on another idea from the end of last week. We were circling back around to GORO on Thursday, a play we’d begun tracking two weeks prior from a low of 3.19.

Since our re-alert on Thursday, GORO has logged higher highs and higher lows in all three sessions. From Thursday’s low of 4.35 to yesterday’s high of 5.44 was a solid 25% upswing, and from our observed low of 3.19 (06/28), it marked a total increase of 71%
