Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Reviewing a Monster Monday

Monday’s Huge Winners

We kicked off the week in grand fashion yesterday, with what was easily the most successful single session for stocks we’ve had so far in 2016. We had an incredible three picks, all energy-related stocks, make gains of at least a hundred percent concurrent with the continued bolstering of oil prices.

SandRidge Energy, Inc. SDOC

We continued to track SDOC yesterday, after our mention in Friday’s premarket report netted a chance at up to 35% in intraday gains (.05-0674), and the surge was sustained and multiplied. After gapping up to open at .075, the stock bulled its way to an afternoon high of .154, for a solid double-bagger (105%).

From our observed low of a nickel on Friday, yesterday’s high marked a two-session swing of 208%

______

Penn Virginia Corp. PVAH

Undoubtedly our top-gaining pick of the day, PVAH was off to the races promptly at the open.

It was a pleasure to watch as it spent the entire session in beast-mode, ramping its way up from .112 to .38 on immense volume! That’s an increase of 239% on the day, so big cheers go out to any of our readers who were able to take advantage of this gem!

______

Goodrich Petroleum Corp. GDPM

GDPM came up big as well with an excellent intraday run, while managing to hold a majority of its daily advances into the close.

It started out with a rip from .0875-.1998, an intraday move of 128%, and came in at .174 at the closing bell, finishing the day on roughly 5x its 3-month average volume.

______

Linn Co. LLC (LNCO)

While LNCO didn’t crack the double-bag threshold, it certainly had a solid session and came close. The stock traded in a range from .95-1.70, offering up intraday gains if up to 79%

______

Breightburn Energy Partners, Inc. BBEP

BBEP also put forth a modest, yet respectable performance, rounding out our group of gainers for the day with a run from .80-1.25. That gave folks a shot at gains as high as 56% on the day.

Options Ideas

We’re also going to go ahead and formulate a couple of options trading ideas this morning- one long, and one short:

Urban Outfitters, Inc. URBN – Weekly $29-32 Calls

Shake Shack, Inc. SHAK –  Weekly $40-37.50 Puts

Extended Watchlist:
AXPW, PPCH, BLKG, TPLM, EGLE, SBGL, SKLN(Possible Rebound Play)

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: NGCG, BABA Options & More

New Generation Consumer Group, Inc. NGCG

Many of the stocks that we’ve placed on the Blue Horseshoe Stocks Stock Tracker lately have really turned some heads, and NGCG is the latest chapter in that ongoing story. We placed the stock on the tracker less than ten minutes into the session, and it was also a topic of discussion in our trading chatroom*.

From there, we witnessed one heck of run as NGCG tore its way up from a low of .0049 to touch .0175, an intraday spike of 257% The huge move came in the wake of the news of a massive share reduction, in which NGCG informed the public that it now has 484,608,753 shares outstanding, with an updated public float of 40,880,342. With such a low float, big volume has the potential to generate huge moves on the chart as yesterday’s session certainly proved.

We also like the company from a business standpoint; their “Mucho Macho Michelada Mix” is already on shelves, currently sold by high-profile retailers like 7/11, Amazon, Kmart, and more. This gives us another compelling reason to have NGCG on our radars moving forward.

Added Note:
We also want to extend our congratulations to one of our chatroom members, DJ, who brought DGLV to the room on Friday afternoon just before the closing bell at a PPS of .025. (You can see his reminder in the snapshot of yesterday’s alert on NGCG above.)  Yesterdays high of .104 registered as a 316% increase, so on behalf of the rest of our members, thanks a ton for your contribution, DJ!*

Options Idea

Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. BABA – We’re also looking at BABA for a possible options trading opportunity, specifically with the 03/20 $95 Calls. We noticed that there is a gap to fill on the chart up to the $98-level. If BABA can get back to $98 by March 20th, those calls would be worth roughly 3.00, which would be quite a nice move from yesterday’s closing price of .80.

RadioShack Corp RSHCQ

Our mention of RadioShack in yesterday’s report also paid off, with the newly downlisted stock trading in a daily range from .1251-.1485, a solid 19% intraday gain. It did what we said we wanted to see it do, registering higher highs and higher lows off of its recently established bottom. We’ll continue to watch RSHCQ as the company navigates its way through bankruptcy proceedings.

Blue Horseshoe: APP, URBN | Retail Focus

American Apparel, Inc. APP

APP is the first of a pair of retail stocks that we are bringing to your attention today in anticipation of the end of summer and upcoming retail season. Kids going back to school, as well as the rush of holiday buying that begins each fall and lasts into winter as folks gear up to celebrate the holidays has been a source of significant opportunity for us in the past. .

In the case of APP, we have a stock that we last mentioned this past fall, with great success. We timed an alert on this play in November ’12 which coincided with the company’s Q3 financials, and were rewarded handsomely for our efforts. At the time, the stock was trading below 1.00 per share, and before winter was over, the stock price had traveled as high as 2.40.

This time, we are revisiting APP before the busy season kicks in, in an attempt to monitor for, and properly time a bottom on the current pullback which started at the end of July. A sharp eye could lead to some serious recovery-profits when we see a reversal and subsequent bounce, so we’re going to be on the lookout for that.

Urban Outfitters, Inc. URBN

In the same vein as APP, we have well-known retail clothing brand, Urban Outfitters. We are bringing this stock into today’s retail discussion as well, mentioning it for the first time.

Earlier this month, URBN gapped up significantly off of an earnings release, an event which was followed by a consolidation which partially filled that gap. Over the past two sessions, the stock has posted higher highs and higher lows, a signal of a potential turnaround, so we are going to be monitoring URBN closely heading into week’s end for a possible confirmation of an uptrend.

It’s also worth mentioning that the company announced the initiation of a share buyback program, which you can read about in the following PR:

PHILADELPHIA, August 28, 2013 – Urban Outfitters, Inc. (URBN), a leading lifestyle specialty retail company operating under the Anthropologie, BHLDN, Free People, Terrain and Urban Outfitters brands, today announced that its Board of Directors has authorized the repurchase of 10 million common shares under a share repurchase program. >>>FULL RELEASE
