Marijuana Sector Update

To kick off the week, we’re turning the conversation back to both medical and legal marijuana-related stocks, a topic that we have covered extensivelyfor over a year now. Many of our old favorites have begun to show signs of promise once again, so we thought this would be a good time to bring them back into the fold as features in today’s morning report.
Medical Marijuana, Inc. MJNA

Growlife, Inc. PHOT

SK3 Group, Inc. SKTO

MediSwipe, Inc. MWIP

Hemp, Inc. HEMP

Each one of the preceding stocks (along with a great many more) has brought us several opportunities for large, or even astronomical gains, as was the case with MWIP from which we were afforded the chance at more than a 5250% profit (Coverage range: .0026-.1398)

Last week each of these began finding its way back to our watchlist as we’ve noticed increased volume, and as we’ve learned extensively in the past, volume often precedes price. Thus we are going to want to keep a close eye on these, and indeed the marijuana sector as a whole, which has yet to reach even a fraction of its full potential. Polls show that more than half of Americans now support legalization of cannabis and cannabis products, and of course we know that some states have already taken the necessary steps to make it available to their citizens.

Callaway Golf Co.  ELY

ELY appeared in Friday’s extended watchlist, then put forth a performance that merits mentioning. The stock touched a daily low of 7.82 very early in the session before enjoying a steady 14% surge up to 8.90, its highest point since 2010.

This comes on the heels of a wave of positive press last week including significantly boosted quarterly earnings:

DRYS, FREE & Extended Watchlist

DryShips, Inc. DRYS

DRYS appeared in Tuesday morning’s extended watchlist, after which time we observed a low of 3.40. Yesterday the stock hit a high of 3.99, marking an overnight move of 17% This morning, it looks like it is gapping up, so we will be monitoring this play today for added gains that could result from the current momentum.

Our first ever mention of DRYS was back on August 22nd, when the stock was trading around 2.20. From that point, yesterday’s high represents a move of 81% As you can see on the chart included, DRYS has been on a steady uptrend since it first hit our radar.

FreeSeas, Inc. FREE

We had FREE on bottom-watch back in July, and it wasn’t too long after that when we saw the stock touch a low of .1652 (08/01). After generally trading sideways for the month of August, FREE began a rise that has lasted all the way through this month, culminating in yesterday’s .59 high, a move of  257% off of its bottom.

This morning it looks like FREE is gapping up into the mid-.60’s range, so it seems further gains are on the menu. Today the company reported details of a deal that will clean a significant amount of debt from its balance sheet:

Uranium Resources, Inc. | URRE | Momentum Play

Uranium Resources, Inc. URRE

We have a possible momentum mover today in the form of URRE. This uranium play caught our attention, as it has been on quite a rip over the past few sessions, trading in the 2.40’s last Monday to Friday’s high of 4.31.

The chart, while having just posted major gains, still appears ripe with the RSI punching into the powerzone, as well as impending golden crosses as both the 20 and 50DMA’s are rising toward the 200DMA.

Even in the event of these rapid gains leading to a pullback, we are going to want to stay aware of the possibility of resultant bounces which could be used to our advantage.

The company also announced an upcoming conference call for the benefit of shareholders Friday of next week, that we are going to be tuning in for:
