Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Pharma Watchlist & More

Actinium Pharmaceuticals, Inc. ATNM

We want to start things off this morning by taking a look at ATNM, for a couple of reasons. First, from a technical standpoint, the chart appears to be coming off of a relative bottom, and a number of indicators suggest that a sizable upswing could occur in coming sessions.

Those include a MACD and Histogram that look to be gearing up for a possible cross into bullish territory. Each of the past two times that occurred, the stock saw an appreciable move to the upside. The RSI also looks to be coming off of being oversold- we’ll be looking for a break of that 50-line, and the registering of higher lows and higher highs as ATNM attempts to establish a continued trend off of its recent lows.

The other factor that is indirectly drawing us to ATNM is the fact that it operates in the Pharma sector, which is sure to be at the forefront of the news with a couple of huge buyouts. Pfizer has bought Anacor (ANAC) and Luminex bought Nanosphere (NSPH). Whenever we see groundbreaking events happening in biopharma, there tends to be a rise in overall activity for the industry.

That’s why, in addition to ATNM, we’ll be placing the following couple of stocks on watch as we kick off another trading week: Inovio Biomedical, Inc. INO, and Sorrento Therapeutics, Inc. SRNE

3D Systems Corp. DDD

After an impressive run-up on the chart which lasted from January to April, DDD has taken a pretty substantial pounding in the month of May.

The stock came down to bounce off of its 200DMA on Thursday, and recorded higher highs and higher lows on Friday. We’ll look for a continuation of that trend into today, and monitor DDD for a possible recovery. We will need to see the stock hold support at or above the current 200DMA of 11.73 on any pullbacks in order for it to hold our interest. A return to its PPS levels from the end of April from this juncture would produce potential gains of at least 50%

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: TBIO Review & More

Transgenomic, Inc. TBIO

TBIO was included in yesterday’s morning report, and the stock recorded a notable session with the help of a favorable press release. The stock started out from an early low of 1.58, and ran 29% to 2.04, dipped back to 1.77 before going on to hit its high of day at 2.11, an added 19% swing. Volume was immense, to the tune of more than nine times the 3-month average.

The news release from yesterday was pertaining to the company’s claim that they’ve developed the most comprehensive test to date for the diagnosis of Leukodystrophy, a disorder that has been notoriously difficult to diagnose; in many cases taking years. >>VIEW PR

There are a number of attractive features of the TBIO chart even after the considerable run it has enjoyed over the past few days- The strengthening RSI just broke the 50-line, and the MACD is gearing up for a bullish cross.

We’ll look for TBIO to continue registering higher lows, preferably above the 50DMA of 1.76, and for it to test resistance in the channel between yesterday’s high of 2.11 and the 200DMA of 2.15. TBIO certainly has a history of making breakout-type moves; twice this year the stock has traded for more than 3.50.

New Options Ideas

We’ve identified a couple of fresh options ideas to pass along to our readers this morning. For each of the following movers, we’ll be on the lookout for the occurrence of a dip-and-rip scenario Both stocks are gapping up here in the premarket.

FitBit, Inc. FIT

For FIT, we are going to monitor Weekly Calls (Friday Expiration) in the $45.50-48 range. We want to pay close attention to them the next couple of sessions as FIT has been establishing higher highs and higher lows on the chart. We’re watching for a dip from profit-taking, and subsequent rebound. If and when that happens, we should see some nice action in the range we highlighted.

Netflix, Inc. NFLX

As for NFLX, which has brought us serious options trading success in the past, we’re going to look for chances in Weekly Calls priced from $100-105. The stock just underwent a forward split, and there is some precedent for price increases following such an event (e.g. AAPL).

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: ATNM Recap & More

Actinium Pharmaceuticals, Inc. ATNM

In the midst of what has begun as a relatively slow short week, ATNM has stood out as a solid play. We tagged this stock for observation in last Thursday’s report, and the subsequent move has been quite noteworthy.

Entering into the holiday weekend, we had witnessed a low of 2.78, and yesterday the stock jumped to a new high of 4.34. Considering it took just three sessions for the pick to provide, that 56% swing is quite significant.

ATMN is among a wide array of companies that will be appearing at this year’s Marcum Microcap Conference in NYC  For those unable to attend the company will be providing a live webcast of its presentation (05/28 @ 10:30am Eastern) Read the news release for details  >>> VIEW PR

PlasmaTech Biopharma, Inc. PTBI

Speaking of companies presenting at the upcoming Marcum Microcap Conference whose stocks have recently featured in our reports, we’re turning our attention back to PTBI this morning.

We followed the stock to a nice gain opportunity early last week (+35%), and after an interim period of consolidation, we’re seeing a sizable gap-up occurring in this morning’s premarket activity.

As you can see on the chart, PTBI has built toward what is known as a Bullish Flag, which can be an indicator of more gains ahead. We’ll look for the stock to hold support above yesterday’s swing low (8.55) in order to maintain the trend.
