Blue Horseshoe Stocks: New Options Idea

Centene Corp. CNC

As we were just mentioning yesterday morning, we designated a pair of contracts to watch in the CNC chain toward the end of March, with the CNC 09/20 $50 & $55 Calls.

Since that time the stock has been in a near-continual uptrend, and after yet another bullish session yesterday, we have new highs to report on our ideas. The $50 Calls have now traded in a range from 1.80-9.50, amounting to a total move of 428%. The $55 Calls have been on an insane run, and they have thus far traded up from .31-6.70. That works out to a rise of 2,061% in a span of only nine trading sessions.

BP Prudhoe Bay Royalty Trust BPT

Weve got another options chain that we ‘d like to signal some longer term calls in as well. BPT fell off a cliff yesterday, and while it may have slightly further to fall before reversing, the chart shows a history of rapid recoveries whenever the stock is beaten back as it has been this week.

We’re going to designate the BPT 05/17 $22.50-25 Calls as two contracts of interest and begin to track them over the days and weeks ahead.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Reviewing Recent Winners

STOCK RECAPS

Much of our focus gets devoted to options ideas these days, as they represent the greatest chance for large short term gains for traders. However, we still scan every day for stocks, and we wanted to begin this new trading week by highlighting a few of our recent picks that have met or exceeded our expectations.

Bio-Path Holdings, Inc. BPTH – Beginning with the least recent, roughly five weeks ago on January 23rd, BPTH was a stock we tagged as a bottom-watch play. The stock essentially traded sideways for the next month, only making nominal gains. That is until the latter half of last week, when it began to heat up on Thursday, and subsequently explode on Friday, performing beautifully on the day. The stock logged the number one gain on the entire NASDAQ, as it traded up from a low of 2.65 before reaching a high of 8.84.

That works out to a mind-melting 234% single-session rise on massive volume, which is extremely uncommon for big board plays. Cheers to anyone who caught a ride on this shooting star!
_____

Lexicon Pharma, Inc. LXRX – Appearing in Friday morning’s report was LXRX, which certainly didn’t see the level of activity as the previously mentioned play, but still posted positive figures on the day. From a low of 5.55, the stock rose as high as 7.07, marking a comparatively small but respectable intraday increase of 27%
_____

China Internet Nationwide Financial Services, Inc. CIFS – Also included in Friday’s report was CIFS, which also had a reasonably strong session following our alert. The low came in at 2.30 before the stock surged into the close at its high of day of 3.25. That represents a solid intraday gain of 41% We’ll also want to see if the stock can carry some of that momentum at the close, over to this fresh trading week.

Funko, Inc. FNKO – Options Review

We also signaled our interest in the FNKO 03/15 $22.50 & 25 Calls on Friday, and we got solid performances out of those contracts. The $22.50 Calls ran from .28-.70 for a gain of 150%
while the $25 also recorded a 150% pop from .10-.25.

Fresh Options Ideas:
SPY 03/04 $280.50-282 Calls*

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Zillow on a Roll

Zillow Group, Inc. Z – Update

We’ve been tracking Zillow since last Wednesday, at which time the stock was trading at a low of 27.92. We were prompted to highlight the play after noticing some big Form-4 submissions near the bottom, with a large gap to the upside on the chart. That morning we signaled the Z 01/18 $30-40 Calls which have produced some really nice gains so far.

The stock itself, after 6 consecutive green days, attained a high of 37.20 yesterday, which marked a 33% increase in just over a week’s time. That’s fantastic volatility for a stock in this price range. That activity has led to some mind-numbing gains in our group of tracked contracts.

The following figures are the ranges  and total possible gains on those from last Wednesday, through yesterday’s highs:

$30 Calls – Range: 1.57-7.43 – Max Gain: 373%
$35 Calls – Range: .57-3.70 – Max Gain: 549%
$40 Calls – Range: .10-1.45 – Max Gain: 1350%

Bottom Watchlist

We also have a couple of longer-term bottom watch plays that we wanted to include in today’s report and monitor for potential rebounds going forward.

We are looking at both Bio-Path Holdings (BPTH) and Ampio Pharmaceitucals (AMPE) in a similar fashion today. Neither stock has shown a great deal of volatility of late, hovering around their recent relative lows for some time. Both charts also boast gaps to the upside. We’ll place this pair on recovery watch in the weeks ahead.
