Blue Horseshoe Stocks: VLTC Recap & More

Voltari Corp. VLTC

A unique opportunity presented itself when billionaire activist investor Carl Icahn disclosed his increased position in VLTC (52% ownership) on April 1st. We tagged the stock in our premarket report that morning as it was gapping up, and have become more and more pleased with that decision as time goes on.

After witnessing a low of 2.18 the following day, it has been mostly northward movement as the stock has slowly but surely made its way to impressive new highs. We’ve been tracking it all along the way, with routine followup mentions on the 8th, 10th, 16th, and again in yesterday’s report.

During yesterday’s session VLTC made a nice move from a low of 8.75 to a new 52-week high of 10.41 at the close. It marked a healthy intraday run of 19%, and represents an overall increase of 377% from our observed low on April 2nd.

Anyone trading in this play has certainly thought of taking profits by this point, and reasonably so. That being said, with a high-profile investor like Icahn involved, we’ll have to be sure we don’t let VLTC slip off of our radars as we go forward.

When we finally do see a consolidation off of this historic run, we’ll immediately transition into bottom-watch mode and lay in wait for a subsequent rebound.

Pazoo, Inc. PZOO

We also want to give a quick update on PZOO, which as our readers are aware, we’ve been tracking pretty heavily in recent weeks. Like VLTC, it was also April 1st that we re-introduced this one into the mix. We’ve witnessed many intraday swings since then, that have offered multiple opportunities for successful trades.

Yesterday, the stock made its way from a daily low .0093 and spiked 18% to a new high of .011. That means that from the low of .0049 we observed on April 6th, PZOO had increased by a total of 124% It also closed at .0105; we’d like to see the stock work toward building a base of support at that key penny-level, however on any potential pullbacks we’ll want to see it hold support at or above the channel between the current 50DMA of .0074 and .008.

As we mentioned yesterday, we’re still rather “high” on marijuana-related stocks and PZOO remains one of our favorite ones, in its unique niche of medical cannabis testing/analysis.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: JDST Review, Options Ideas & More

Direxion Daily Jr Gld Mnrs Bear 3X ETF (JDST)

We highlighted JDST in Friday’s morning report, and on that day we observed a low of 11.40 following a gap-up. Bolstered jobs numbers and the continued strength of the dollar combined with a lag in gold prices fueled the beginning of what has turned out to be a solid run for this ETF.

Yesterday, it continued its uptrend, breaking through the 200DMA (14.46) and reaching as high as 14.50. That translates to a respectable two-session increase of 27%

We’ll be keeping a close eye on the spot price of gold which is currently holding support off of three-month lows, and urge caution moving forward. A significant rebound would effectively spell the end of JDST’s current momentum.

Vencor International, Inc. VCOR

We’re also taking notice of VCOR this morning on the heels of a premarket PR alluding to a massive 40% reduction of its authorized common stock. VCOR has recently been rebounding off of its lowest price in more than four months, and it’s possible we’ll see a continuation of that momentum as a result of today’s announcement.

Vencor Announces Reduction of 2 Billion Authorized Shares (Tue 8:30AM EDT)

Qihoo 360 Technology Co. Ltd. QIHU – Options Ideas

We’re catching QIHU in the midst of a morning gap-up today following the company’s post-market earnings beat yesterday. It’s leading us to formulate a couple of options-trading ideas that we’ll share with you now, along with a snapshot of the current chart to help illustrate the opportunities it presents.

The stock itself is coming off of a recently established 52-week low, which in and of itself is a phenomena for which we’re constantly on the lookout.

For a possible short-term swing trade opportunity, we’ll be monitoring the QIHU Weekly (03/13) $48-49 Calls. We’ll also be keeping watch over the 03/27 $50 Calls (Last Trade: 2.22) for a longer-term possibility.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: ONCY Recap & More

Oncolytics Biotech, Inc. ONCY

ONCY emerged from our extended watchlist and stole the show yesterday with an exceptional intraday run. The stock saw an early morning low of .80 then proceeded to bull its way upward for the remainder of the session, breaking through the 200DMA (.92) and setting its daily high of 1.10 inside of the last hour of trading.

The spike was good for gains of up to 37% on the day, and ONCY held a vast majority of those gains, closing at 1.07. We were extremely pleased with our timing in flagging this play when we did; the strong performance came on more than 12x the 3-month average number of shares traded, setting a new 52-week high for volume in the process.

With the kind of breakout momentum we saw build up in ONCY yesterday, we’re going to continue to reserve a spot for it on our watchlist, provided the stock can maintain support at or above the .85-.87 area on any pullbacks. It’s gapping up in the premarket this morning, so there’s a reasonable chance of some early profit-taking today.

ONCY is currently being given a 88% Overall “Buy” Opinion Rating at BARCHART.COM

Ohr Pharmaceutical, Inc. OHRP

We also wanted to make a note of another of our stated items of interest which made a nice move right off the bat yesterday. OHRP came off of our extended watchlist to trade in a range from 8.55-10.58, a 24% intraday increase.

Volume came in at more 16x the 3-month average for the session. The stock held more than half of its daily advances into the close (9.78), and is gapping up slightly in premarket trading this morning. The stock will receive our continued attention in the event that it can hold support above 9.50.

Biocept, Inc. BIOC

BIOC began appearing in our reports for the first time back on February 17th via our extended watchlist. Subsequent to that point, we witnessed the stock spike in a big way from a low of 1.35 up to a high of 4.91 just seven sessions later on February 25th; an initial run equal to an increase of 264%

After consolidating off of that high the stock found support at 2.73 on Friday before beginning to rebound. Yesterday brought a continuation of that recovery as BIOC found its way back to 3.94, which marks a 44% swing.
