Blue Horseshoe Stocks: TJX Review & More

Petroleo Brasiliero SA (Petrobras) PBR

As we kick off a fresh trading week, we’re drawn to a familiar stock from the past in PBR. Our relationship in following and making successful calls with this play stretches back for years,

Recently, the stock had been falling on the heels of a solid run last month, and that decline was kicked into a higher gear last week as the company’s CEO resigned amid questions about the Brazilian economy. The turmoil has brought PBR to its lowest levels and most oversold point since December, as you can see on the chart below.

You can also see that those conditions led to a month-long run of considerable proportions, so we’re going to want to signal some longer-term options in case the pattern were to repeat itself. We’ll place the PBR 06/29 $11-12 Calls on watch in the days and weeks ahead.

The TJX Companies, Inc. TJX – Recap

$85 Calls – Range: 2.14-6.30 – Max Gain: 194%

Eagle Bancorp, Inc. EGBN

After realizing that EGBN had been the target of dishonest short-seller tactics, we tagged some options ideas on the morning of December 5th – the EGBN 12/15 $50-60 Calls. The stock had been absolutely hammered in the previous session.

We saw some really nice moves from those contracts when EGBN immediately began to rebound ranging from 73-200% The stock dealt with some resistance over the later portion of last week and into this Monday, but managed to continue its recovery and go on to set another new high yesterday.

That produced another opportunity in a couple of the contracts we highlighted, with the $55 Calls trading from 1.20-4.40 for a 267% swing, and the $60’s exploding for a 600% rip from .10 to .70.

GW Pharmaceuticals plc GWPH
.
We’re looking at a familiar cannabis stock in GWPH this morning as the company is receiving some positive attention over its announcement that it had reacquired the rights to develop Sativex, a 1:1 THC/CBD extract blend oral spray product.

The stock is seeing some bullish premarket activity, and we’re going to signal a pair of corresponding quick strike options calls. We’ll be looking for a dip and rip scenario, and tracking the relation activity in the GWPH Weekly $125 & $130 Calls.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: NLNK Recap & More

NewLink Genetics Corp. NLNK

After our call of NLNK Thursday morning, the stock traded from 9.50-14.48 (+52%) which was a fantastic move for something it that price range.  We noted the strong close, and Friday morning re-iterated our interest despite the big move we’d already witnessed.

It’s a good thing we left NLNK on our radars, because while it didn’t quite rise to the previous session’s intraday performance, it came awfully close, and completed a very nice two-day swing for us in the process. Friday’s trading range on NLNK ran from 13.51 up to a new high of 19.30 for a daily move of 43% and representing a two-session rise of 103%

The stock traded thirteen times its monthly average volume, and maintained well over half its advance into a second consecutive strong close, so we’re quite curious to monitor its activity as we kick off a fresh trading week.

Kura Oncology Inc. KURA

Speaking of higher-priced movers, we also tagged KURA in Friday’s premarket report after the company’s mid-stage cancer treatment trials yielded positive results. It too went on a run which was uncharacteristically volatile for a $9+ stock.

The tradin grange on this one ran from 9.30-13.80 for an intraday push of 48% and did so on over 20X the monthly average volume. The close wasn’t quite as strong as the previously mentioned play, but we’ll still leave a slot open on our radar screens for KURA heading into this week.

______

Honorable Mention: Adaptimmune Therapeutics plc ADAP – While the level of gains provided wasn’t quite as high following our tag of ADAP on Thursday, the stock did string together a noteworthy couple of sessions. It traded from a low of 7.02 on Thursday to a high of 8.95 on Friday, marking a 27% swing.
