S&P 500 ETF Trust (SPY) – Recap

Our main winner from Friday morning’s premarket report was our idea for the SPY. The markets saw an early rip out of the gate before pulling back, running once again, and eventually tapering off into the close.

As a result of the activity we observed, our designated contract sets experienced two separate and significant surges on the day. Here are the total possible gains afforded by the moves that occurred:

SPY 07/02 $313-314 Calls
$313: 1.88-4.22 (+47%) | .67-1.55 (+47%)
$314: 1.28-2.10 (+49%) | .36-.77 (+47%)

Other Recent Winners:

Plug Power Inc. PLUG – We also want to begin this fresh trading week by re-highlighting PLUG, which we most recently talked about on June 24th. Subsequent to that report, the stock traded for as little as 6.91 a share, and on Friday the stock attained a new high of 9.65. This morning in the premarket we’ve seen shares change hands for 10.09.

That puts our total observed increase on PLUG in under two weeks at a respectable 46% and warrants further attention going forward.
____

Overstock.com Inc. OSTK – Another recent performer we’ve been hot on the trail of is OSTK, which we mentioned quite a bit back in May. Since then, OSTK has done little else other than climb its way to new highs week after week.

When we first alerted on OSTK it was trading at 15.45, and to close out the short week on Thursday, the stock had hit 39.38. That works out to a 2-month upswing of 155%

DLOC Recap, Options & More

Digital Locations Inc. DLOC

We tagged DLOC in yesterday morning’s report just in the nick of time to catch one of the top sessions in the stock’s history. On all time high daily volume, the stock cruised from a low of .07 all the way up to .35, marking a fantastic 400% ripper on the day.

We have been supplementing our options plays with some select OTC picks as well, and this is a fine example of why. The opportunities have been there for anyone with the wherewithal to look (or read our daily reports).

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Great Start to the Week

T2 Biosystems, Inc. TTOO

This past Thursday morning, we cautioned our readers that TTOO was heavily oversold, and sniffing out a bottom with a massive gap to the upside. As it turned out, our timing on that alert could not have any better. The stock saw its low of .52 that day and hasn’t looked back since. Yesterday, TTOO reached .76 which works out to a three-day upswing of 46%, a modest yet respectable move.

More importantly, the stock is once again taking off on the heels of a fresh PR this morning (below), reaching a new high of 1.13 in premarket trading. That further extends our observed range on this play to 117% as TTOO begins to fill the gap on the chart that we mentioned which runs up to the 1.36 mark.

LEXINGTON, Mass., Aug. 06, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — T2 Biosystems, Inc. (NASDAQ:TTOO) announced today that the United States Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) granted approval for a New Technology Add-on Payment (NTAP) for the T2Bacteria® Panel for FY 2020.

Options Reviews

SPDR S&P500 (ETF) SPY –  As a fresh options idea to start the week yesterday morning, and in light of the bearish market sentiments that we were sensing in the premarket, we went with SPY Weekly $290-288 Puts as our targets. Early indications ultimately proved to be correct, as the markets tanked on the day, sending those contracts on a huge ride.

The following multi-bag gains were there for taking:

$290 Puts – Range: 2.27-8.19 – Max Gain: 261%
$289.50 Puts – Range: 1.98-7.30 – Max Gain: 269%
$289 Puts – Range: 1.51-7.10 – Max Gain: 370%
$288.50 Puts – Range: 1.29-5.54  – Max Gain: 329%
$288 Puts – Range: 1.18-6.10 – Max Gain: 417%

____

Allakos, Inc. ALLK – We also signaled interest in the ALLK 08/16 $45-60 Calls yesterday in opposition to the market activity we were observing, and those targets bucked the trend quite nicely, with three out of the four producing notable opportunities on the day:

$45 Calls – Range: 16.41-25.53 – Max Gain: 56%
$55 Calls – Range: 9.00-15 60 – Max Gain: 73%

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Interesting Bottom Play

Chaparral Energy, Inc. CHAP

We noticed CHAP on our routine morning scan today, and wanted to highlight the current situation for the stock as a potential longer-term swing trade idea. We are attracted to the setup of the chart, which is presently exhibiting a classic double bottom. At the start of the calendar year, CHAP came off of the same lows and surged nearly 100% to the $8-range.

We also want to relay the cause of CHAP’s recent analyst upgrade. The company report a slew of operational and financial highlights in its recent 10-K pertaining to the company’s 4th quarter and full year 2018 performance.

CHAP Q4/FY 2018 Highlights

  • Recorded 2018 full year STACK production of 14.5 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day (MBoe/d), representing a 52% year-over-year increase

  • Reported full year 2018 net income of $33.4 million, or 73 cents per diluted share

  • Grew 2018 total proved reserves to 94.8 million barrels of oil equivalent (MMBoe), which adjusted for 2018 divestitures marks a 35% year-over-year increase, and represents a PV-10 value of $686 million
    • Increased STACK proved reserves by 50% year-over-year to 74.1 MMBoe, while replacing 519% of STACK production
  • Invested $194.7 million in STACK drilling and completion (D&C) activities in 2018
  • Reduced total company lease operating expense per barrel of oil equivalent (LOE/Boe) almost $4 from $10.96 in 2017 to $7.24 in 2018

We’re going to be very interested to track the stocks progress on the heels of these revelations, and fully expect to see a sustain rebound attempt in the relatively near future.
