Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Several Updates, New Ideas & More

Linn Co. LNCO & Linn Energy LINE

We often include this related pair together and have mentioned them several times in past reports. Most recently was a week ago today, when we called attention to the fact that their [nearly identical] charts were trading at a relative bottom and looking ripe for a rebound. It didn’t take long for our expectations to come to fruition, with both stocks posting solid performances during yesterday’s session.

LNCO ran from .355-.515 for a move equaling 45%, while LINE did slightly better with a run from .32-.50, representing a  56% intraday upswing.

Rex Energy Corp. REXX

We took notice of the momentum that had built up in REXX yesterday, leading us to include a mention of it in our premarket report. We liked its chances of continuing the pattern it had established on the heels of a purchase agreement announcement, and that’s just what it did.

From a morning low of 1.03 we witnessed REXX run as high as 1.44 shortly after 1PM. That registers as an intraday pop of 40% We’ll continue to keep an eye on this play provided it can maintain support above a dollar on any pullbacks.

______

Added Note: GEVO was another one from yesterday’s report to trade solidly in the morning and early afternoon. The stock made a relatively small 20% intraday move from .25-.30. It’s still hovering around that high early on today, so we’ll be leaving GEVO on our radars also, for the time being.

Oil-Related Plays

We also wanted to remind our readers of the plays we’ve been tracking recently that are tied to big oil:

VelocityShares 3x Long Crude Oil ETN – UWTI
Petroleo Brasiliero SA (Petrobras) PBR

Both have been putting up solid performances with oil having been on a bullish tear in recent sessions. It appears as if many oil stocks are gapping up in the premarket, so we’ll be interested to follow the resultant action in our own oil-related interests. In the case of Petrobras, we want to go ahead and signal a possible options idea: We’ll be looking at observing PBR Weekly $6 & $6.50 Calls over the remainder of the week.

Strikeforce Technologies, Inc. SFOR – Recap

We also want to take a second to comment on the early move made by another of our recent items of interest, SFOR. In the video chart we published, we mentioned needing to see it hold above a specific support level and it managed to do so for the first part of the session. The stock caught a bounce off of the .0026 level and ran 62% intraday to .0042.

That daily high represented an overall new high for us as well. We’ve now seen a total jump of 500% over our observed low of .0007 from the day of our initial alert on March 31st.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: TRXC Recap & Much More

TransEnterix Inc. TRXC

TRXC stood out among the other mentions in Friday’s premarket report. Following our tag of this stock it shot quite rapidly from an early low of 2.73, and reached a subsequent high of 4.05 shortly after 11AM EST.

We want to congratulate any of our reader who were able to take advantage of that timely alert which yielded the opportunity at intraday gains of up to 48%  The healthy spike came on nearly tenfold the 3-month average trading volume.

Friday’s move came in conjunction with the announcement of successful pre-clinical trials for its SurgiBot minimally invasive surgery system. Two different doctors used TRXC’s product in actual medical procedures and subsequently offered their endorsements. It is an important step on the way to FDA application submission, which the company has stated should be on the table by mid-2015. Thus, TRXC may be one that we’ll want to have on a more long-term watch.

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–TransEnterix, Inc. (NYSE MKT: TRXC), a medical device company that is pioneering the use of robotics and flexible instruments to improve minimally invasive surgery, today announced the successful completion of four general surgery and urology procedures using its SurgiBot system patient-side robotic surgery system. >> FULL PR

The First Marblehead Corp. FMD

We also wanted to give a quick nod to FMD for a solid performance following its inclusion in Friday morning’s watchlist. The stock found a low of 4.65 within the first several minutes of the open, and would go on to end the day with a on a high note, reaching as high as 5.35 and marking a respectable intraday move of 15%

Nuvilex, Inc. NVLX

Our first mention of NVLX dates all way back to August of 2013 when we released a special report on the company and its pancreatic cancer treatment, which at the time was in the early stages of Phase-2 trials. (Read the Special Report HERE)

A major development hit the presswires this morning regarding the FDA’s granting of ‘Orphan Drug’ status to that treatment, so we wanted to bring the stock back into the mix.

It’s coming off of a recent bottom as well, so NVLX is certainly going to be reserved a spot on our watchlist as the story continues to play out. The company has stated that Phase-3 trials should begin in 2015.

SILVER SPRING, Md., Dec. 22, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Nuvilex, Inc. (NVLX), a clinical-stage biotechnology company providing cell therapy solutions for the treatment of diseases, today announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has granted Nuvilex orphan drug designation for its pancreatic cancer treatment. >> FULL PR

Rite-Aid Corp. RAD

We tagged RAD for tracking this past Tuesday, and the stock responded with a respectable performance on the week. An earnings beat as well as heightened guidance facilitated a healthy move from a low of 5.73 to a subsequent high of 7.05, marking a 23% intraweek spike.

Extended Watchlist:
GSS(Bottom Bouncer coming off 52-week lows), CANF, APP, TGE, ACHN

OXBT, MCHX, TWTR & Extended Watchlist

Oxygen Biotherapeutics, Inc. OXBT

OXBT followed our expectations to the letter yesterday. We were heralding the stock for its stellar 560% gain, then mentioned that we would be “on alert for any possible pullbacks, because those will often lead to excellent bounce opportunities.” The monstrous run that had begun a few days prior found its apex, giving way to a significant consolidation. After opening at 9.73, OXBT went as high as 11.40, that’s 17% intraday, and from our original alert low of 1.46 (10/29), a tremendous 681%

Upon the anticipated pullback we saw the stock fall to 6.81, bounce, close at 7.70, and this morning pre-market trades have been going off above the 8.00-mark. Moving forward we’d like to see the stock hold support above yesterday’s low, and continue to make higher lows.

This whole thrill ride was catalyzed when OXBT’s partner Phyxius Pharma announced testing results on its heart medication, ‘Levosimendan’, which showed effectiveness in reducing mortality rates among patients undergoing surgical procedures with reduced cardiac function.Tests at the Duke School of Medicine showed it could potentially reduce unwanted outcomes from open heart surgery by as much as 50%. OXBT has a standing agreement to acquire Phyxius, and by extension, the rights to Levosimendan. This is a story we will continue to follow through to its conclusion.

Marchex, Inc. MCHX

MCHX appeared in yesterday’s extended watchlist and made a nice move, trading in a range from 8.17 to 10.00. That represents a 22% gain, and the stock did manage to close out the session maintaining much of that increase at 9.91.

The Twitter IPO – TWTR

As many of you undoubtedly know, on Wednesday, Twitter priced its shares at $26, and will begin trading on the NYSE today under the symbol TWTR. As we did with Facebook, we are using caution early on, as the conditions seem set to create a “perfect storm” of volatility out of the gate. Demand from the outset is expected to be very high, which would create buying pressure and likely cause a significant increase as the first shares begin trading hands. Some experts believe as much as a 30% initial spike could occur, which we believe would lead a sizable number of investors to take those quick profits off of the table right away. That wave of selling pressure could kick up the volatility, causing some major swings in share price.

On the other hand, if demand for the stock has been underestimated, we could be looking at a maiden run that spans multiple sessions. This is why, and the Facebook IPO certainly provided a good lesson to that effect, we are approaching TWTR with a healthy skepticism. No matter how it all plays out, it will be very interesting to watch. You can be sure we will continue to comment as the situation unfolds.
