Blue Horseshoe Stocks: VSTM, KTOV Recaps & More

Verastem, Inc. VSTM

With impressive new highs being printed yesterday we thought it was a good time to swing back around and recap the recent progress of a stock we’ve been tracking since early this spring. A quick look at the VSTM tag in our archives reveals that we began tracking this play with a mention in our premarket report on March 24th at which time the stock saw a low of 1.59 and never went any lower. That was followed by another reminder just a few weeks ago when the stock was trading in the 2.10’s.

Despite the usual fluctuations, the stock has been in an ascending wedge pattern on the chart from our initial highlight, generally trading in an upward direction and yesterday, hit new highs of 3.75. From our observed low of 1.59 that works out to a total increase of 142%  For those who may have only caught the most recent mention, gains of up to 95% were still attainable as of yesterday’s new high.

Kitov Pharmaceutical Holdings, Inc. KTOV

We included KTOV in yesterday morning’s premarket report after picking it up on our routine morning scan. The stock responded with a very nice daily performance.

From a low of 1.80 it ripped 100% to 2.70 for a perfect double-bagger, and it did so on extreme high volume on the order of 155X the monthly average. With that kind of price action and liquidity, we’ll be certain to keep close tabs on KTOV as we close out this holiday-shortened week.

ProShares Short VIX Short-Term Futures ETF (SVXY) – Options Idea

After some positive jobs numbers went out this morning, we want to signal a range of options in the SVXY, which is one of the funds we use as a market analog. A bullish session for the markets as a whole could spell some nice gain opportunities in the SVXY Weekly $152-154 Calls*.

*We don’t include mentions of weekly options contracts on a Friday without explicitly warning our readers every time. Trading weekly options at the end of the week is a highly risky proposition that should never be attempted by beginning or novice traders!

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Options Roundup & More

Best Buy Co. Inc. BBY

Our primary area of focus in terms of fresh picks in yesterday’s premarket report was in post-earnings options ideas, and essentially everything worked out in our favor, beginning with our ideas for the Best Buy chain, which were the BBY Weekly $55-58 Calls.

All seven sets of contracts in our highlighted range gave traders a chance at HUGE multi-bag gains on the day ranging from a triple all the way to a TWELVE-bagger!

$58 Calls – Range: .29-3.97 – Max Gain: 1269%

Abercrombie & Fitch Co. ANF

Our ANF calls didn’t disappoint either, despite the fact that Abercrombie’s was a much more mixed earnings release.  We said we’d be looking at the ANF Weekly $13 & $13.50 Calls, and saw some solid moves out of both.

The $13 Calls ran from .63 to 1.05 for an intraday push of 67% while the $13.50’s traded in a range from .35-.50, posting an intraday pop of 43%

Based on the present look of the ANF chart, we’ll still want to track these plays heading into the long weekend, but be forewarned, dealing with weekly options contracts on a Friday is for expert traders ONLY!

_____

Big Lots, Inc. BIG – Fresh Idea

We’ve had so much options trading success this earnings season, there’s no reason not to add in a couple more fresh ideas before we break for the holiday weekend.

Big Lots beat on profits and raised guidance in its premarket release today. With no weekly contracts to look at, we’ll put the BIG 06/16 $55 & 57.50 Calls on watch in the weeks ahead.

_____

ULTA Beauty, Inc. ULTA – This play is gapping up hard after its own earnings beat yesterday. We’ll want to keep an eye on the ULTA Weekly $302.50-310 Calls (Again, to be considered by expert traders only)

Coin Citadel CCTL

We offered up a few bitcoin related stocks to watch yesterday in light of the hysteria over bitcoin reaching all-time highs, and the one that outperformed the rest turned out to be CCTL.

Its volatile swings provided solid chances in both the morning and afternoon. First it ran from .0004 to .0007 (+75%), followed by a pullback to .0003 and subsequent 100% run-back to .0006.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Bottom-Bouncers & More

North Atlantic Drilling Ltd. NADL

We’ve got an array of potential bottom-bounce plays to go over this morning, the first of which is NADL. This stock has been getting beaten down incrementally since reaching a high of 4.80 in December. It’s been one selloff after another since then, culminating in a low of .65 during yesterday’s session.

We’re seeing a moderate gap-up this morning, and want to put NADL on our watchlist moving forward on the chance that a multi-day rebound is on the way.

__________

Catalyst BioSciences, Inc. CBIO

Next up on our bottom-bounce watchlist is CBIO, which is also gapping up off of a bottom in the premarket this morning with the help of a key press release, of which we’ll include a snippet below.

The stock recently made a massive run to the $18, so the potential for another major move is certainly present.

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., April 11, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Catalyst Biosciences, Inc., (Nasdaq:CBIO) a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on developing novel medicines to address hematology indications, today announced that it has achieved a key milestone under its collaboration with ISU Abxis to advance the Factor IX program towards its first human clinical trial. Completion of the CB 2679d/ISU304 toxicology studies supported the recent Investigational New Drug (IND) approval by the Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) and triggered a milestone payment to Catalyst. __________

Sunshine Heart, Inc. SSH

We tagged SSH as a bottom play a week ago today on the 4th, and subsequently tracked it over a pretty nice run last week as it traded up from 1.67 and hit 2.25 (+35%). It pulled back to the low 1.70’s yesterday and appears to be gearing up for another possible move.

Just two months ago the stock was trading at more than $5/share, so we wanted to add a little reminder this morning that SSH could be line for an extended recovery that we’ll want to look out for in the day and weeks ahead.

Galectin Therapeutics, Inc. GALT

We were just mentioning yesterday morning the excellent move from GALT we had witnessed between first bringing it up in January and the present. The run, originating at a low of .935 had already reached just beyond the 200% level, and after a very nice intraday performance, our observed range was extended even further.

Trading up from a morning low to 2.75, the stock traded up 34% to reach 3.68. That pushed the overall percentage gain we’ve witnessed in GALT for 2017 to a highly respectable 294%
