Blue Horseshoe Stocks: ATVI Review & More

Activision Blizzard, Inc. ATVI

On Friday, our primary focus was a bottom play in the form of ATVI, which had just been beaten back to its lowest prices since December of last year. Our inclination was to signal a range of longer term calls in the options chain, and we had instant results from those ideas.

All four of the contracts contained within our designated range produced single-session gains of a significant nature.

$55 Calls – Range: 3.20-5.00 – Max Gain: 56%
$57.50 Calls – Range: 2.30-3.60 – Max Gain: 57%
$60 Calls – Range: 1.40-2.68 – Max Gain: 91%
$62.50 Calls – Range: .90-1.84 – Max Gain: 104%

Aurora Cannabis, Inc. ACB

We have followed ACB for years, but this is the first time we’ve done a feature on the stock since it was ACBFF trading on the OTC Markets. The company uplisted to the NYSE, making it one of the few cannabis plays to do so.

After having been trading at a relative bottom toward the end of last month, the stock has been gaining some ground, and is gapping up a bit this morning on the heels of its quarterly earnings report.

Aurora’s revenue increased four-fold, and its earnings surpassed $100M in the first report issued by the company since the legalization of marijuana in Canada barely a month ago. We’ll be very interested to follow up with its conference call and expected guidance, as well as track it more closely through this new quarter.

Cronos Group, Inc. CRON

Speaking of earnings, CRON has a report upcoming early this week, and despite the PPS tapering back over the past couple of sessions, we’ll be interested to follow along with its post-release activity.

We tracked CRON over its recent solid 53% run from 6.50-9.95, and we’ll be eager to see if a solid earnings report can help reinvigorate the stock. We also made some great options calls on CRON last week, which we may swing back around and do again tomorrow, with favorable enough quarterly figures.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: MCD Options & More

McDonald’s Corp. MCD

As we were looking for stocks that appear to be in position to buck the  bearish market trend we’ve experienced this week, we’ve settled on McDonald’s.

The hamburger giant posted some beefy Q3 numbers this morning. including a solid beat on earnings and worldwide same store sales, even as US same store sales missed expectations.

We’re going to signal a range of weekly calls to try to take advantage of the situation, and those are going to be the MCD Weekly $165-172.50 Calls.

PetMed Express, Inc. PETS – Update

We also want to rehash yesterday morning’s fresh options idea, which focused upon the PETS 12/21 $30 & 35 Calls. This pair of contracts recorded a solid first day for us, despite the tumultuous market conditions.

Both plays exceeded single-session gains of at least a hundred percent, and will retain their spot on our watchlist for the remainder of the week.

The $30 Calls traded up from a low of 1.55 up to 3.70 for a gain of 139% while the $35’s ran from .51-1.21, marking a 137% move on the day.

SPDR S&P 500 ETF (SPY)

With such a sharp and rapid downturn in the markets, a rebound is certain to be headed our way at some point soon, so we’re going to signal a range of calls in the SPY. We’ve generally posted a very good track record in terms of utilizing the SPY’s options chain to our advantage in the past.

Our targets for the next week will be the SPY 10/31 $275-277 Calls as we await a recovery from this week’s early losses.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: DAL Options & More

Delta Airlines Inc. DAL

Despite a tumultuous day for the markets yesterday, and mostly everything taking on a bearish characteristic, we’re still going to go bullish on DAL in the wake of the company’s quarterly earnings report released this morning.

Despite rising fuel costs, the company revealed that profits soared well past expectations as a result of increased demand leading to higher ticket prices.

As we always try to do when a company posts a solid beat, we’ll designate a range of options to place on watch, in this case the DAL Weekly $49.50-52 Calls. We’ll go ahead and track these into the end of the week. DAL stock was already oversold, getting hammered for weeks, so this report may be just the catalyst needed to effect an impressive reversal.

SPDR S&P 500 ETF (SPY)

We had great success with the SPY earlier this week, and we want to come back to it this morning in the wake of the markets getting crushed yesterday. With the amount of uncertainty and potential volatility out there, we want to set ourselves up to have an active idea no matter which way the winds blow.

Should the SPY fall below $276, we will target the SPY Weekly $277 & $276 Puts. If it pulls above $276 we will focus on the $276 and $277 Calls, so either way, we should be able to quickly identify the proper course once trading commences. .
