Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Post-Earnings Options Plays

Energizer Holdings, Inc. ENR

We’ve been seeking out prime bottom play opportunities this week, and to continue that trend, we’ve run across Energizer this morning on the heels of the stock registering a new annual low yesterday.

In conjunction with the fact that Deutsche Bank just upgraded ENR from a Hold to a Buy rating with a price target of $52/share (trading in the $37-range yesterday), along with indicators that the stock is heavily oversold, and we are confident in calling this one a prime bottom play candidate as well.

Fresh Options Plays

We also have a pair of fresh earnings-related options ideas to pass along this morning. Post-earnings plays are typically our miost successful, and we’ve got a couple of good hunches about the following contracts as we cruise through this midweek.

FedEx Corp. FDX –  Already in a good spot on the chart for a possible rebound leading into today’s session with a strong double-bottom setup, we’re looking to FDX options as FedEx’s Q4 results yielded a profits and earnings beat. As a result, we’re going to be tracking the FDX Weekly $157.50-60 Calls.

Micron Technology, Inc. MU – We are also looking at MU, which reported in the post-market yesterday as well, posting a beat on Q3 earnings, and bolstered guidance for sales of computer memory chips. Like the above mentioned play, MU is giving off a heavy multi-bottom signal. In this case we are interested in monitoring the MU Weekly $35-36.50 Calls.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Form-4 Alert & More

Options Updates

We offered up a couple of fresh options ideas in yesterday morning’s report, GIS Weekly $37.50 Calls, and the MU Weekly $31-32 Calls. Despite the markets taking yet another hit in the wake of the Fed’s interest rate hike, both of those ideas managed to produce some positive intraday movement prior to the announcement.

The GIS $37.50’s traded up from 1.31 to 1.80, for a modest 37% rise, but the MU calls did considerably better, logging multi-bag gain opportunities:

MU Weekly $31-32 Calls
$31 Puts – Range: 1.03-2.47 – Max Gain: 140%
$31.50 Puts – Range: .70-2.21 – Max Gain: 216%
$32 Puts – Range: .46-1.83 – Max Gain: 298%

Axovant Sciences Ltd. AXON – Form-4 Alert

We routinely keep an eye out for brow-raising insider trading activity, and have run across AXON today. A trio of stakeholders filed Form-4’s on Tuesday alluding to the purchase of a total of $30M in AXON stock in three $10M transactions, at the current relative lows near a dollar. That amounts to over a quarter of the company’s total market value.

To us, this would seem a fairly big indicator that these institutional investors are very confident that the stock will not fall below these levels. We’ll go ahead and place AXON on an extended term bottom-watch into the New Year.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: DRI Recap & More

General Mills, Inc. GS

First up today, we are taking a look at General Mills following the company’s solid quarterly figures on earnings and profits released here in the premarket.

The stock itself has gotten badly beaten up recently, as have most stocks in what is shaping up to be a very turbulent finish to 2018. However, the strong numbers reported could be just the catalyst to effect a convincing reversal. We’re going to be waiting in the wings with our eye on the GIS Weekly $37.50 Calls to try to take advantage of the situation.

Darden Restaurants, Inc. DRI

We highlighted some calls in the DRI chain yesterday, the DRI Weekly $95-105 Calls. Of those three sets of contracts, we got some very nice activity from two out of the three. While the $95’s were too far in the money, the $100’s and the $105’s fared quite well.

The $100 Calls traded up from a low of 2.85 and hit an even 5.00 for a gain of 75% and the  $105’s surged from .65-1.60, producing a gain opportunity of up to 146%

Micron Technology, Inc. MU

On Friday morning we spent most of our report updating readers on several great stock calls we’ve made in recent weeks, but we did include one fresh options trading idea, and we’re pleased to report that it was a resounding success, and a greta opportunity to daytraders to nail down some quick profits.

Adobe Systems, Inc. ADBE – Fresh Options Idea

For a fresh idea, we’re going to signal a longer-term set of contracts in the ADBE chain. The stock has a fairly predictable trading pattern, and appears to be approaching an up-cycle in the days or weeks ahead.

If we can see ADBE maintain support at or above 258.49, we are going to be very interested in the ADBE 10/26 $260-265 Calls.

Cool Holdings. Inc. AWSM

Also in Friday morning’s report was a tag of AWSM. We had just noticed it’s big day in the prior session, and included it in our daily watchlist.

The stock made an absolutely monstrous single-session run for something trading in the $11-range, running from a low of 11.11 to a high of 22.61 for a 104% intraday move. It also closed more than 80% in the green on the day!

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: NBEV Update & More

New Age Beverages Corp. NBEV

The performance of NBEV has been absolutely incredible this week, and we’ve been sticking with it the whole way. We were just mentioning yesterday morning how the stock set its all time single session record move on Wednesday, and yesterday set another new all time high for the second day in a row!

NBEV traded in a range from 5.27 to 7.85 (+49%) which also marked a total rise of 423% over our observed low of 1.50 following our initial alert on the 4th of this month. In post-market trading activity, the stock actually reached 10.34, which extends that figure to a gain of 589% in a matter of just twelve trading days!

With NBEV firmly in Blue Sky territory, there’s no telling where this ride will let off, but in and of itself, the performance exhibited by this play in recent weeks has been nothing short of amazing.
_____

Altimmune, Inc. ALT

Speaking of September 4th, that was also the morning that we tagged ALT for observation, and despit a very slow start to the month, this stock has absolutely exploded this week as well, even more so than NBEV.

ALT has traded in an absolutely mammoth intraweek range from a low of 4.27 to yesterday’s new high of 36.25. That’s an upswing amounting to 749% The fact that we’ve routinely come up with big board plays that blow their lids shows that while we’ve come a long way from the days of our focusing solely on penny stocks, we are still more than capable of identifying movers on the upper exchanges that are just as impressive!

SPDR S&P 500 ETF (SPY) – Recap

Our fresh options trading idea for the SPY yesterday also bore fruit- after we signaled the SPY Weekly $291.50-292.50 Calls, all three contracts produced significant chances for traders to net a solid intraday profit.

We’ve traditionally been very good at playing the SPY options chain and this time was no different. The total possible intraday gains were:

$91 Calls – Range: .95-2.40 – Max Gain: 153%
$92 Calls – Range: .71-1.92 – Max Gain: 170%
$93 Calls – Range: .46-1.42 – Max Gain: 209%
