Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Options Review & More

Lululemon Athletica Inc. LULU – Options Review

We wanted to start things off this morning by doing a review of our main topic of focus toward the end of last week, the LULU options chain. We had signaled the LULU Weekly $83-85 Calls on Wednesday, and saw some very nice moves ranging from 180-295% that first day. They finished off the short week nicely as well.

The following is the updated log of the overall two-day gain opportunities we observed after the stock once again went bullish during Thursday’s session. The range of potential gains was extended considerably.

$83 Calls – Range: 1.60-6.33  – Max Gain: 295%
$83.50 Calls – Range: 1.25-5.75 – Max Gain: 360%
$84 Calls – Range: 1.20-5.28– Max Gain: 340%
$84.50 Calls – Range: 1.00-4.69 – Max Gain: 369%
$85 Calls – Range: .82-4.33 – Max Gain: 428%

Facebook, Inc. FB

With a strong finish to last week by the markets as a whole, a lot of the big name stocks saw a turnaround after several weeks of difficulty, and chief among those was Facebook. We like the potential for a more sustained recovery here, especially if the markets continue their bullish trend. We’re going to keep tabs on the FB Weekly $155-160 Calls.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Cannabis News Play & More

Stereo Vision Entertainment SVSN

We had SVSN hit our scanner this morning after we noticed an interesting PR coming across the wires. We’re always looking for new interests in the cannabis space, and SVSN fits that bill. Unlike many of the companies in the business conduct their activities primarily in the western states, SVSN has an operation in Florida.

The company just announced a February 1, 2018 Grand Opening of its majority owned subsidiary CannaVision’s Bay Pines medical cannabis and holistic pain management clinic in St Petersburg, Florida. (>>View PR)

We’ll be interested to track the progress of this new facility, and SVSN stock itself going forward.

SPDR S&P 500 ETF (SPY)

We also want to throw in a quick options idea for the SPY, which despite a momentary hiccup in its week’s-long bullish trend yesterday, looks to be gapping up and ready to get back on track today. There are a set of contracts expiring today that we want to radar: the SPY 01/17 $277.50-279 Calls*.

Please be aware that contracts approaching expiration are subject to evaporating premiums due to time decay, so these are quick-strike opportunities only. We’ll be looking for the classic early dip and rip pattern, which should present those chances for intraday flips.

*Be aware that this idea is extremely high risk, and for advanced level traders only!

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: NLNK Recap & More

NewLink Genetics Corp. NLNK

After our call of NLNK Thursday morning, the stock traded from 9.50-14.48 (+52%) which was a fantastic move for something it that price range.  We noted the strong close, and Friday morning re-iterated our interest despite the big move we’d already witnessed.

It’s a good thing we left NLNK on our radars, because while it didn’t quite rise to the previous session’s intraday performance, it came awfully close, and completed a very nice two-day swing for us in the process. Friday’s trading range on NLNK ran from 13.51 up to a new high of 19.30 for a daily move of 43% and representing a two-session rise of 103%

The stock traded thirteen times its monthly average volume, and maintained well over half its advance into a second consecutive strong close, so we’re quite curious to monitor its activity as we kick off a fresh trading week.

Kura Oncology Inc. KURA

Speaking of higher-priced movers, we also tagged KURA in Friday’s premarket report after the company’s mid-stage cancer treatment trials yielded positive results. It too went on a run which was uncharacteristically volatile for a $9+ stock.

The tradin grange on this one ran from 9.30-13.80 for an intraday push of 48% and did so on over 20X the monthly average volume. The close wasn’t quite as strong as the previously mentioned play, but we’ll still leave a slot open on our radar screens for KURA heading into this week.

______

Honorable Mention: Adaptimmune Therapeutics plc ADAP – While the level of gains provided wasn’t quite as high following our tag of ADAP on Thursday, the stock did string together a noteworthy couple of sessions. It traded from a low of 7.02 on Thursday to a high of 8.95 on Friday, marking a 27% swing.
