Ringing in 2024 with a 4-Pack of Fresh Ideas

Best Wishes for 2024!

In a rare occurrence, we opted not to include any options trading ideas on Friday before breaking for the holiday. There were no earnings reporters, and the markets were looking rather subdued, and set up for a humdrum kind of a day. It was a quiet end to a year that had been anything but quiet, but we’re ready to get things rolling for 2024. We’ll still be without earnings reporters today, but that won’t stop us from rooting out something to focus upon for this first trading day of the year.

If 2024 turns out anywhere near as positive as 2023 was, we will be in very good shape! Friday’s Five Runners:

Things went quite well for us on Friday, with our premarket report for the day including five possible options ideas, and all five returning solid intraday gain opportunities for us. It was a strong finish to what was another very successful week for opportunistic traders.

We were looking at the PATH Weekly $22.50-23.50 Calls, the MRVL Weekly $55-53 Puts, the ULTA Weekly $465-475 Calls, the ESTC 12/15 $90-95 Calls, and the PD 12/15 $22.50 Calls. Please note that we referred to ESTC and PD as weeklies on Friday, but the next expiration date was actually for December 15th, and we’ve included those figures below. Our PATH calls were by far the most exciting play of the day, with a couple of those contract sets surpassing the thousand percent gain mark on the session:

Good Start to the Week:

Things went rather well for us to start the fresh trading week yesterday. Our premarket report contained three short term and one longer term idea, and the three quick-strike plays all delivered. This was despite having a shallow pool of earnings reporters, and having to improvise in terms of the targets. We shouldn’t have that issue today, with a full slate on the earnings calendar and a lot more interesting things happening.

Yesterday did not present a very good trading session for the markets in general, however, despite the fact that we went bullish on all of the options ideas in our premarket report, the overall trend was bucked, and our targets produced some pretty good intraday gain chances for us.  We had settled on an array of four earnings related ideas, and were not disappointed with the results.

We were focused in on the NVS 05/19 $105 Calls, the MCD Weekly $292.50-297.50 Calls, the PEP Weekly $187.50-190 Calls, and the RTX Weekly $104 Calls. With the exception of our single NVS target, all of our tracked strike points produced multi-bag intraday runs.

Friday was a rare occasion, perhaps only the third day in the last ten years that we were unable to put out a premarket newsletter, due to an untimely plumbing emergency at our editing office. We’re going to start off by highlighting the gains achieved by a couple of our extended term options ideas from earlier last week. On Tuesday morning, we signaled interest in the BEKE 11/19 $17.50-20 Calls, and on Wednesday we alerted on the PYPL 12/10 $210-225 Calls. Both of those plays finished the week out with some impressive moves on the books.
