Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Reviewing Yesterday’s Winners & More

Axion Power International, Inc. AXPW

AXPW ensured that we started off the week with a bang yesterday with a monumental single-session performance. We placed it in our morning report after a routine scan showed some abnormally high premarket volume, and it essentially spent the entire day bulling its way to new highs.

From an early low of .0421 the stock would ultimately reach a share price of .159 just prior to the close. That worked out to an intraday rip totaling 277% on record volume.

AXPW closed just two ticks below its high-of-day at .157, and with this kind of frenzied momentum, we’ll be certain to follow the activity as things kick off today.

The stock has traded as high as .2601 in this morning’s premarket, extending the total move we’ve seen in a 24-hour period to 518% There’s a very good chance that the run-up will catalyze significant profit-taking, which will ultimately lead to an opportunity for us to time the bottom, and play the rebound.

Huge congratulations go out to any of our readers who were able profit from AXPW as a result of our premarket alert!

Indo Global Exchanges Pte Ltd. IGEX

IGEX was another stock from yesterday’s new watchlist that also did extremely well, becoming the second multi-bag gainer before the day was through . We referred to it as a “super-sub-penny momentum play”, and the momentum certainly was sustained throughout the day.

From its daily low of .0006, the stock barreled its way up to close at its high-of-day at .0013; an intraday run of 116% which occurred on volume that approached 10X the monthly average.

Like the aforementioned play, we’ll remain vigilant for the possibility of continued momentum and/or a subsequent dip-and-rip scenario of which we can take advantage.

Amedica Corp. AMDA was the other notable intraday gainer from yesterday’s newsletter. AMDA made a strong move from .40 to .497, which represents an increase of 24%

FreeSeas, Inc. FREE

This stock is an old favorite that we’ve tracked to some very nice gains in the past. We want to draw attention back to it this morning as it is beginning to show signs of life after a months-long consolidation beat the stock back to new 52-week lows. We always like to monitor stocks coming off of annual low-points; very often they lead to excellent chances on the rebound.

The stock ran hard into the close yesterday on extremely heavy volume, so we’re going to we’re going to tag FREE as a momentum/recovery play, and watch it intently as we head into mid-week. .

Extended Watchlist:
ACUR, MEA, OPTT, GBSN, PULM

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: AVNR, SINO, FREE & More

Avanir Pharmaceuticals, Inc. AVNR

We included AVNR in our extended watchlist yesterday and we were glad that we did. The company released an announcement concerning the positive clinical trials of its drug “AVP-923” which is used to treat Alzheimer’s >>Read The Release and what followed was one heck of a bullish session.

The stock saw an early low of 9.32, and steadily pushed its way up all session long, with the high of 13.09 coming just prior to the close. That mark represented a solid 40% intraday gain, as well as a new 52-week high! The amount of volume traded was also impressive, on the order of more than 89M shares, an annual record and more than 25X the three-month average, so we really like the timing of our alert on AVNR.

AVNR provides another good example of why we always remind our subscribers to check through our daily extended watchlist selections thoroughly, as hidden gems like this one tend to pop up with surprising regularity.

Sino-Global Shipping America Ltd. SINO

SINO began to run when the company released financials that included some significant highlights just prior to the close yesterday, and the stock is gapping up heavily this morning for what should be an interesting session.

Generally in these instances we’ll be on the lookout for the phenomenon we refer to as the dip-and-rip. Stockholders see the huge run, and the resultant profit-taking usually leads to a subsequent pullback. That’s where we’re waiting to catch the bounce and snipe some rapid profits.

FreeSeas Inc. FREE

FREE made its way down to a new 52-week low of .29 yesterday and could be in prime position for a possible bounceplay. This morning, the company has revealed that it has concluded the sale of one of its vessels for $12.25M and entered into a long-term charter with the new owners >> View PR

FREE is gapping up as a result and provided that the stock can break through resistance at roughly .45 which we’ve pointed out on the following chart, things could get very interesting.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: FREE, DRL, BAA & More

FreeSeas, Inc. FREE

After we brought FREE to our readers in last Thursday’s report, the stock was trading as low as .675. It turned out to be a good bottom call for us, as we have now seen two consecutive days of higher lows, and yesterday FREE attained a high of .91 into the close.

That marked a two session move up of 35% and as the stock closed at the high of day, we’re going to want to monitor FREE for momentum carryover into today. We’ll also be looking for another session of higher lows and higher highs to signify that the uptrend remains on-track.

Doral Financial Corp. DRL

We’ve been tracking DRL since June 9th, (Trading at a low of 3.53) and in that span, we’ve seen some significant movement from this stock.

Last Thursday, in an update on DRL we mentioned that we’d pay careful attention to the stock “over the next handful of trading days.” That turned out to be a good idea, as we’d observe a low of 7.08 on Friday, and a subsequent high of 8.14 during yesterday’s session, a solid increase of 15%

Counting from the initial low we observed in DRL in June, yesterday’s high represented a gain of 130%

Banro Corp. BAA

We have a potential bottom-bounce play in BAA this morning. We caught this one on a routine scan and noticed how it has taken a huge dive over the past few weeks. After closing at .479 on 07/09, the stock came all the way down to close at .181 this past Friday.

The stock has begun to find support and bounce off of its base over the past couple of sessions, so we want to keep a close eye on BAA moving forward.
