Blue Horseshoe Stocks: KODK Options & More

Eastman Kodak Co. KODK

In a surprise development yesterday, Kodak announced that it would be the latest company to hop on the cryptocurrency bandwagon, with the upcoming launching of its own crypto coin, KODAKcoin. It is said to be in development for a photo rights licensing platform the photography pioneer is working on.

While that’s all well and good, what we have seen on the KODK chart amounts to little more than a hype fueled surge, which we believe to be unsustainable over the long term. What we want to do to try to use this situation to our advantage is set ourselves up with some bearish options ideas to follow in the weeks ahead.

We;re going to signal the KODK 02/16 $15 & $12.50 Puts. It gives us plenty of time to see KODK top out and begin to come back to Earth, which would certainly provide chances in those contracts on the way down.

Xunlei Ltd. XNET

The most recent time that we tagged XNET was a month ago tomorrow, on December 11th, and shortly thereafter the stock would log a low of 12.30. From that point it launched into what has been a very solid run over the past few weeks.

The stock cracked the twenty-dollar barrier yesterday, and this morning in the premarket, has reached a new high of 24.90 which marks a double-bag move of 102% in just four short weeks!

XNET had a huge similar run from October to November as well, where it topped out at an even $27/share. We’ll continue to monitor the stock in coming sessions, and look for it to retest those previous highs.

Potential Bottom-Plays

We’ve unearthed a couple of stocks that are trading just above their recent relative lows, and wanted to relegate them to a bottom watchlist this morning. We’re getting strong multiple-bottom signals from each one, and will formulate a couple of corresponding options ideas.

Tenet Healthcare Corp. THC – This stock strung together three sessions of higher lows and higher highs to close out last week, with a ton of room to the upside. We’re going to be signaling our interest in tracking the THC 01/26 $13.50-14.50 Calls as the stock attempts to continue the beginnings of this uptrend.

Key Tronic Corp. KTCC – This play has been attempting a recovery of its own, after a sizable gap-down hit it this past Monday, as pictured on the chart snapshot below. We’ll be waiting in the wings with an options idea in this case as well, with the KTCC 02/16 $5 and $7.50 Calls.

Lululemon Athletica LULU – Update

We also want to give one final update on our Weekly LULU Calls, which provided us with multiple opportunities for swing trades throughout last week. Friday was no exception, with the following moves being made on the day:

Urban Outfitters, Inc. URBN – Options Rehash

We offered up an options idea for the URBN chain yesterday morning, and we’re happy to report that it resulted in some really solid single session gain opportunities coming into play.

There were quite a few pundits claiming that URBN was due for some consolidation or sideways trading, but we felt good about the company’s earnings beat, including rising same store sales. It turns out we were the one who were correct. Just take a look at the profits that were on the table for our ideas during yesterday’s session.

URBN Weekly $28-29.50 Calls
$28 Calls –
Range:  .80-2.00 – Max Gain: 150%
$28.50 Calls – Range:  .45-1.60 – Max Gain: 255%

Xunlei Ltd. XNET

Yesterday, we were just rehashing our timely alert from earlier this month, when we tagged XNET shortly after which time, we observed the stock trading for as little as 8.14 a share.  In what has been a solid month of November for this play, the gains it piled on quickly surged into multibag territory, and yesterday, the stock continued its very impressive climb by once again hitting new annual highs.

XNET reached 24.29 during yesterday’s session, which represents a significant extension to the gains we’ve witnessed thus far. From our observed low of 8.14, the new high marked an increase of 198% in just the last few weeks. Volume was also at its highest level of 2017, so we’re very interested to see how the rest of this scenario plays out.

XNET recently made it known that it was going to focus on blockchain tech, which is a large part of the reason why the stock has been running like a scalded cat. The crypto space has been the talk of the town for some time now, and as you can see, it’s really given this one a push.
