Reviewing Winning Ideas, Formulating New Ones

Johnson & Johnson JNJ

We were correct in assuming yesterday would be a good day to put some options trading ideas for Johnson & Johnson on the table. The company is now at the center of the frantic pursuit of a vaccine to eradicate the deadly COVID-19 virus. We expect we will be following its role in this endeavor to completion.

For now, while we have signaled some longer-term options as well, we’re mainly interested in the short term plays we’re tracking and the moves they began to make yesterday. We will include the modest moves made by our September calls, but would expect to have to wait for them to come into play in a more meaningful way.

Top Ships, Inc. TOPS

Our chatroom call from Friday, which we highlighted in yesterday morning’s premarket report, tacked considerable gains onto our observed range after another huge bullish session. It saw a daily run from .36 to a new high of .62, which comes out to an intraday increase of 72%

From the low of .135 that TOPS saw on Friday morning when we offered it to our traders chat participants, yesterday’s new high mark represented a two-day upswing of 359% We’re seeing a significant pullback in the stock this morning, so this run has had it, but we’ll keep an eye skinned as it searches out a bottom, as a another swing to the upside may follow shortly thereafter.

Anyone who enjoys our premarket reports can also join our daily traders chats on Skype. It’s a place to get new ideas and even share some of your own in real-time throughout the course of each trading day. Send a Skype contact request to username “stocksumo” and we’ll see you there!

Streaming Stocks

More people are at home streaming content than ever before, and that is going to be true throughout the duration of the coronavirus crisis, which most experts agree will persist until a vaccine is successfully produced, sometime in 2021. Here are a couple of obvious players who stand to maintain solid business through this new dynamic, and some corresponding ideas.

ROKU Weekly $87.50-89 Calls
NFLX $365-372.50 Calls

RAD Updates & More

Rite Aid Corp. RAD – Update.

We have been attacking the RAD options chain on a number of fronts, most recently being Friday morning, when we issued a couple of sets of ideas. Today we will focus on those expiring this Friday, which were the RAD 01/03 $21-23 Calls.

We’ll continue to monitor these plays throughout the rest of this holiday-split week, but for now, here were the ranges and total possible gains on those five sets of RAD contracts:

$21 Calls
: 2.00-4.90 (+145%)
$21.50 Calls: 1.07-2.51 (+135%)
$22 Calls
: 1.50-2.46 (+64%)
$22.50 Calls: 1.18-2.10 (+83%)
$23 Calls: .78-2.01 (+158%)

We also signaled interest in a much longer term RAD idea on Friday morning, with the  RAD 04/17 $27-30 Calls, which we are not quite ready to report on just yet, but will continue to monitor into the New Year.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Updates, Options Ideas

Spectrum Global Solutions, Inc. SGSI

We wanted to circle back around to mention SGSI this morning, and pass along some media from the company that does not appear in its official news feed.

The president of Spectrum Global gave an interview on the company, and we would highly suggest that our readers take the time to check that video out. Additionally, for anyone who may have missed our initial special report on SGSI, it would be a good idea to give that a look as well.

Spectrum had a really solid year of growth in 2018 and we are very excited about the company’s prospects for the coming New Year.

Riot Blockchain, Inc. RIOT

We also want to place RIOT on recovery watch this morning. The stock, along with the price of Bitcoin, has been beaten up for quite some time now, but may be seeing some stabilization, especially with investor confidence in traditional securities being at perhaps the lowest point in the whole of 2018.

RIOT saw the beginnings of a bottom-bounce yesterday, and we’re going to want to monitor it into year’s end for the potential of a more sustained rebound.

Fresh Options Ideas:
DRI Weekly $95-105 Calls
ORCL Weekly $47-48 Calls

JNJ Weekly $130-133 Calls
(In addition to continuing to monitor the 01/25 $135-140 Calls we signaled yesterday)

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Bottom Plays & More

Syros Pharmaceutical, Inc. SYRS

First up on the docket for this morning is a potential bottom play that we’re going to want to put on our radars over the coming sessions. SYRS reported some less-than-ideal clinical data, and the stock got absolutely crushed yesterday.

We don’t ignore news developments, but we are constantly looking for over-abused stocks to pounce on during their recoveries, and one definitely seems in order for this play at the present juncture. The filling of the gap that was left on the chart by the sell-off would mean roughly 50% in gains from the current PPS.

Tenet Healthcare Corp. THC

We made it known yesterday morning that we had an interest in tracking the THC 01/26 $13.50-14.50 Calls as the stock appeared to be ripe for continuing its recent bottom-bounce. THC did just that, but our tracked options didn’t heat up too much yet, posting gains of just 15-24% on the day. That could be set to change today, as the stock is showing signs of a gap up and possible continued upward momentum this morning.

We’ll be sure to make monitoring the ongoing activity here one of our top priorities for the rest of this week. This may only be the beginning of THC’s rebound off of its recently established new annual lows.

Riot Blockchain, Inc. RIOT

We began tracking RIOT on November 2nd at a low of 6.33, mentioning it three times over the course of the following month. The stock saw a massive run to 21.76, for a serious move of 244%

That was followed up by a pullback to a low of 12.01 on 11/30, and since then the stock has been making a push for those highs once again, yesterday reaching 23.67. That’s an added swing of 97% on top of the previous run we witnessed, and it leaves us interested to see if the stock can re-test and possibly breach the highs off of the previous run.

Extended Watchlist:
HIVE, SPHS, PTI, ECR, SRAX, CRSP

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: DXTR, Options Recaps & More

Dextera Surgical, Inc. DXTR

Among our extended watchlist plays slated for observation in yesterday’s premarket report, was DXTR, a stock that we intially tagged on June 1st, and in which we witnessed a subsequent low of .1745. We included a second reminder on June 12th, and of course once again yesterday morning.

Yesterday the stock put up a fine intraday performance en route to setting new highs for us. From its daily low of .275, it ran as high as .3855, which comes out to a 40% jump. From our original low earlier this month, DXTR has risen 121% Volume over the past week has picked up considerably, and yesterday the stock traded more than five times its monthly average volume.

It also held more than half of its daily gains on that volume. In such instances, we always lookout for a continuation of momentum into the ensuing session.

Darden Restaurants, Inc. DRI – Options Idea

In the wake of a hearty earnings beat on DRI, whose chains include Olive Garden, Red Lobster and LongHorn Steakhouse among others, we focused on some options ideas, the DRI 07/21 $90-97.50 Calls.

While the moves weren’t quite on the level of many of our options calls, which often yield percentage gains in the hundreds and thousands, there’s still plenty of time before expiration and all the contracts in our observed range got off to a solid start.

$90 Calls – Range: 3.40-5.70 – Max Gain: 68%
$92.50 Calls – Range: 1.94-3.50 – Max Gain: 80%
$95 Calls – Range: 1.02-1.95 – Max Gain: 91%
$97.50 Calls – Range: .52-.94 – Max Gain: 81%

As we pointed out, these contracts don’t expire for a few weeks, so we’ll continue to keep an eye out for further activity in DRI.

Fresh Options Idea: Chicago Bridge & Iron Co. CBI Weekly $20-22 Calls

Sophiris Bio, Inc. SPHS – Update

We want to keep SPHS on watch as well. We tagged this as a bottom play on Monday, and it has since made a modest move from a low of 2.07 to 2.41. While it just works out to a nominal gain of 16% so far, we’ll remain interested for as long as it maintains its new trend of recording higher highs and higher lows as it has each day this week.
