Options Reviews, 5 Fresh Targets

Tuesday’s Options Selections:

While yesterday’s session didn’t bring astonishing gains like some of the previous one had, we still managed to root out some intraday runners on the options front. Out of four ideas, two were a short and a longer-term set of calls on XOM. The August set was the only interest of the day that didn’t yield opportunities right out of the gate. As for the rest, they did pretty well for us, registering intraday moves of a respectable nature.

Those were the GFS 08/19 $60-65 Calls, the EMR Weekly $90-89 Puts, and the XOM Weekly $89-90 Calls. Despite not producing huge multibag runs, under the circumstances of the markets having a deflated sort of a session, they ended up being good calls. Here were the moves they recorded:

GFS 08/19 $60-65 Calls
$60: .80-1.30 (+62%)
$65: .22-.50 (+127%)
_____

EMR Weekly $90-89 Puts
$90:
3.57-4.30 (+20%)
$89: 2.75-3.31 (+20%)
_____

XOM Weekly $89-90 Calls
$89: 1.99-2.81 (+41%)
$90: 1.25-2.02 (+62%)

Fresh Options Ideas:

Big Time Options Gainers & More

Options Review:

Our premarket report yesterday morning included three sets of options ideas for our readers based off of the day’s earnings calendar. As our regular readers are surely aware, we like to use the increased price action and volatility that typically comes with a big name earnings drop, to our advantage.

The targets that we were zeroed in on for the day were the CRM Weekly $215-220 Calls, the HPE 03/18 $16 Calls, and the PLUG Weekly $25-26 Calls. All three of those contract sets posted solid numbers on the day, with only one set of PLUG contracts falling just shy of producing double-bag gain opportunities.

Here were the total intraday moves and the highest possible gains that could have been achieved as a result:

CRM Weekly $215-220 Calls
$215:
 .50-2.50 (+400%)
$217.50: .31-1.59 (+413%)
$220: .21-.95 (+352%)
_____

HPE 03/18 $16 Calls
$16:
 .55-1.28 (+133%)
_____

PLUG Weekly $25-26 Calls
$25: .58-1.03 (+78%)
$25.50: .39-.87 (+123%)
$26: .25-.54 (+116%)

Fresh Options Ideas:
KR Weekly $49.50-52 Calls
SPLK Weekly $114-116 Calls
BBY Weekly $106-108 Calls

Load of Fresh Options Plays & More

DICK’S Sporting Goods, Inc. DKS – Recap

Our only options idea based off of earnings reports yesterday morning was in the DKS chain. We noted the lackluster response to the company’s Q4 beat on earnings and revs, and went to the bearish side of the fence.

Our specific targets were the DKS Weekly $71-69.50 Puts and those contracts logged considerable gains, with the exception of the $70.50’s whose intraday increase was nominal.

Here are the exact trading ranges and total possible profits on those targeted DKS options plays:

DKS Weekly $71-69.50 Puts
$71: .90-1.60 (+78%)
$70.50: 1.05-1.25 (+19%)
$70: .40-1.50 (+275%)
$69.50: .61-1.20 (+155%)
