Blue Horseshoe Stocks: AAPL Options & More

Apple, Inc. AAPL  – Options Idea

If you root through the seven year newsletter history archived at our website, BlueHorseshoeStocks.com, you would find that we’ve discussed AAPL more times than most stocks, even though we haven’t mentioned it much in recent times.

In fact, AAPL’s was the first go-to options chain that we focused on when we began including options trading ideas a few years ago. This morning, we’re coming back to this old favorite with a fresh idea to coincide with the current Apple hype.

The company is rolling out the new iPhone today, among other things, and iPhone announcements have historically provided some good ammunition for options traders. Today, we’re going to slate the AAPL Weekly $160 & $162.50 Calls for observation in forthcoming sessions as AAPL’s event is expected to drive up activity not only in its own stocks, but likely other tech stocks as well.

FutureLand Corp. FUTL

On Friday morning, we included FUTL in our watchlist, and the stock has made a solid two-swing for us. From Friday’s low of .0012 the stock set a new high of .0026 to kick off the week yesterday, which works out to an overall jump of 117% Yesterday’s big push came on volume of more than three times the monthly average.

We would also include a note of caution in terms of long term interest in this stock. The company dropped the news that it had entered into a joint venture with Greenleaf Holdings  that would “deliver solar technology to the cannabis industry”. Yet here it is, two months later, and there have been no further details given. We tend to be wary of companies that don’t keep a steady line of communication to shareholders.

That being said, we have seen some really nice movement on the chart as we mentioned above, so we’ll continue to keep an eye on FUTL.

Lumber Liquidators Holdings Inc. LL – Recap
Although LL did gap up a lot higher than expected to start the session, and larger gains would have been available at higher strike prices closer to the money, but most of our listed targets, the LL Weekly $27.50-29.50 Calls, still managed to see some solid intraday moves.

Those potential gains, including a double-bagger by the $28’s, were as follows:

$27.50 Calls – Range: 3.00-5.50 – Max Gain: 83%
$28 Calls – Range: 2.30-5.00 – Max Gain: 117%
$28.50 Calls – Range: 3.36-4.27 – Max Gain: 27%
$29 Calls – Range: 2.00-3.70 – Max Gain: 85%

Apple, Inc. AAPL

With AAPL breaking out to new all-time highs in the premarket this morning, after a strong earnings report was more than enough to assuage any concerns about lagging iPhone sales, we’re going to want to try to get in on the fun.

AAPL is gearing up to the point that it may also drive the DOW to the 22,000 level, causing a cascading effect that should make for an interesting week for traders across the board.

As for us, we’re going to be tracking the AAPL Weekly $155-162.50 Calls on the heels of this premarket mega-push that has thus far yielded a high of $160 on the nose.

Amarin Corp plc AMRN

We also want to take note of AMRN, which recently took a fair beating on the chart, and is showing clear signs of a reversal.

We also want to signal some calls in that options chain as well as watching the stock itself. The AMRN Weekly $4 Calls will be the options we put on our radar.

Apple, Inc. AAPL – Options Recap

The current earnings season really kicked into high gear for us yesterday with our signal on AAPL. To go along with the activity we were observing in the premarket just formulated an options trading idea with the AAPL Weekly $125-127 Calls, and were ultimately met with chances for huge gains across the board.

Regardless of which strike price was chosen within that range, multi-bag gains were there for the taking:

$125 Calls – Range: 1.18-5.00 – Max Gain: 324%
$126 Calls – Range: 1.36-4.46 – Max Gain: 228%
$127 Calls – Range: .61-3.55 – Max Gain: 482%
$128 Calls – Range: .45-2.61 – Max Gain: 480%

We were obviously very pleased with our calls and the intraday opportunities they provided, and  have no problem simply walking away after such a bang-up session. That being said, we’ll go ahead and continue to track the activity over the remaining two sessions this week, just for good measure.

______

FRESH IDEA:

Facebook, Inc. FB – Continuing our ride on the earnings train, we’re going to signal a range of options in the FB chain on the heels of yesterday’s post-market earnings report.

Our target range today is going to be the FB Weekly $133-136 Calls.

Alkame Holdings, Inc. ALKM

Last week as we were following ALKM, mentioning it in all three reports from the 25th-27th, we witnessed a low of .0014. Yesterday, the stock broke out on mega-volume running to a high of .004 where it also closed, having traded 6X its 30-day average volume.

It worked out to a week-over-week increase of 186%  We’re also going to want to continue keeping tabs on ALKM after yesterday’s strong close.

 Apple, Inc. AAPL – Options

We used to trade AAPL options like they were going out of style, but have not actually talked about the stock in roughly six months.

This morning, on the heels of yesterday’s post-market earnings beat which featured better-than-expected iPhone sales, we’re going to be coming back to AAPL with a short-term options idea.

Having traded as high as 127.67 in the premarket, we’re going to be looking for a dip-and-rip off of this gap-up once the session commences. We’re going to be focused on the AAPL Weekly $125-127 Calls provided the expected early dip doesn’t take the stock lower than the $125-mark.

Opko Health, Inc. OPK

OPK is a familiar stock to us, albeit one that we haven’t touched upon in awhile. Recently, it has been under heavy consolidation, beginning with a large gap-down from the mid-$11 to the $10 area in late December, and persisting throughout last month.

We’ve also noticed a series of Form-4 filings which show the CEO was soaking up shares at these lows all last week and into Monday, to the tune of more than $300K worth purchased at market prices in just a few days.

We like to follow plays where directors are actively supporting their stock with confidence buys like those, so we’re going to be keeping a closer eye on OPK in sessions to come, as a rebound may be forthcoming at any time.

Tuesday’s Honorable Mentions

Cardinal Energy Group, Inc. CEGX – We placed CEGX in yesterday morning’s extended watchlist and were pleased with the stock’s modest, yet noteworthy intraday performance.

The stock traded in a range from .0026 to .0038, marking an intraday pop of 46% There was a consolidation into the close, and the stock failed to hold at least 50% of its daily advance, however, with the volatility exhibited in the past couple of sessions, we’ll definitely want to keep an eye on CEGX as we cruise through mid-week.
_____

Players Network PNTV – We were just mentioning our coverage of PNTV on Monday, and the 400%+ gains we’d observed recently. What has followed is a solid couple of sessions that has the stock well on its way to an impressive intraweek performance.

Monday’s low came in at .028, and yesterday it reached as high as .04, marking a two-day swing of 30% We’ll be looking for the stock to continue posting higher highs and higher lows today, which would solidify PNTV’s multi-day runner status.

We’re circling back around to NEWC this morning on the heels of an untraded upon press release that just hit the wires. More Updates:

Sophiris Bio, Inc. SPHS

We’ve been tracking SPHS all week so far, and have been met with a good opportunity for some quick profits. Subsequent to our mention in Monday’s report, we’d witness a low of 4.92 in the stock, followed by a 22% run to 5.98. Then yesterday, it held support at 5.88 as it came down slightly before jumping up to a new high of 8.55, which also happens to be the stock’s new 52-week high.

It marked an intraday run of 45% and a two-day upswing of 74% over our observed low from Monday.

______

Weyland Tech, Inc. WEYL

We tagged this play on Friday (Low of 2.10), and then again in yesterday’s newsletter, and the performance we’ve seen thus far has been respectable.

Yesterday WEYL traded up from a daily low of 2.17 to a high of 2.80, representing a daily run of 29%, and an overall increase of 33% from Friday’s low.
______

Exact Sciences Corp. EXAS

We also had EXAS in yesterday’s report, and the stock made a modest move of 20% from a low of 14.57-17.47. Not the magnitude of gains that we typically hope for, but considering the price range, a 20% intraday pop is nothing to sneeze at.
