Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Wrapping Up a Solid Week

Five Below Inc. FIVE

Fresh for yesterday morning’s premarket report, we jumped on the FIVE options chain with some quick-strike ideas in the FIVE Weekly $125-127 Calls and after an impressive $5+ intraday run for the stock itself, all three of those ideas bore fruit instantly. We wanted to recap the performance this morning, as well as update our idea for this play.

$125 Calls – Range: 2.40-5.00 – Max Gain: 108%
$126 Calls – Range: 2.18-3.30 – Max Gain: 51%
$127 Calls – Range: 1.64-3.00 – Max Gain: 83%

With FIVE gapping up again in the premarket today, we expect to see further gains from the above-mentioned contract sets, but we also want to roll up our potential strike prices a bit to follow the money a little closer. We’ll include the FIVE 04/05 $128-129 Calls in our pool of ideas going forward.

FRESH IDEAS:

BlackBerry Ltd. BB – Fresh off of the scanner this morning, we’ve got BlackBerry making waves in the premarket after a solid beat on revs and profits, in a quarterly release that included record software IP licensing. We’re going to keep an eye on the BB Weekly $9-10 Calls*.
_____

CarMax, Inc. KMX – CarMax also reported this morning, and it too is moving the needle in the premarket on the heels of a beat on profits. We’re going to add the KMX Weekly $65.50-67 Calls* to our tracklist for today as well.

OPTIONS UPDATES

Shoe Carnival, Inc. SCVL- Fresh for yesterday morning’s premarket report was an idea for the Shoe Carnival options chain, in response to the company’s post-market earnings beat from Tuesday afternoon. We cited the SCVL 04/18 $35-40 Calls as being most attractive to us, and we met with some solid success on day one.

With the help of a move out of the stock from 35.00-37.72, we saw significant movement from each of our designated strike prices. The $35 Calls saw a low of 1.56 and reached a high of 3.50, which represents a max gain possibility of 124%  while the $40s impressively ran 233% from .30-1.00.

A strong close for SCVL indicates a very plausible chance at seeing even more gains in the near-term, so we’ll continue to track the activity here.
_____

Centene Corp. CNC – Along with the SCVL idea, we also floated a longer-term one for CNC that produced instantaneous results. We had targeted the CNC 09/20 $50-55 Calls and despite such a lengthy period remaining until expiration, we saw some excellent volatility there in just a single session.

The $50 Calls traded up from 1.80 to 3.50, a gain of 94% while the $55 Calls ripped a big gain  from .31-1.05, which works out to an intraday pop of 239%

Lululemon Athletica LULU

We also want to issue a fresh idea for LULU this morning after the company’s own post-market quarterly financials drop, which included a big earnings beat and some enticing guidance for the remainder of the year. The stock is surging to all-time highs in the premarket, and we don’t want to get caught sitting on our hands when the lid blows.

We’re going to radar the LULU Weekly $162.50-170 Calls, which could end up seeing some serious gain activity over the next session or two.

G-III Apparel Group Ltd. GIII

Among our fresh ideas for yesterday’s premarket report was GIII, in whose options chain we signaled a pair of contracts for observation shortly after the company’s quarterly report was issued. Those were the GIII 09/21 $45 & 50 Calls, and despite a very up-and-down session for the stock itself, opportunities for intraday profits were on the table early on in the session.

The $45 Calls traded up from a low of  2.67, to as much as 6.00, representing an upswing of 125%, while the $50 Calls ran from 1.03-2.49 for a 142% pop.

These could still see further action down the line. still being two full weeks from expiration, with the current bearish attitude of the market being only a temporary hurdle.

Fresh Options Idea:

Speaking of bearish attitudes, that’s going to be our take on some SPY Calls this morning to finish out this short week. We’re going to look for a break below $287, and place the SPY Weekly $288-287 Puts**

Five Below, Inc. FIVE – Options Recap

The fresh options idea we included in yesterday morning’s premarket report, the FIVE Weekly $90-95 Calls, was related to the company’s Q1 earnings report and strong guidance.

Unsurprisingly, those ideas provided us with solid chances for intraday profits as the stock ran from the $95 to the $100 range on the day. Be aware that despite the odd increments, the following are all of the contracts contained within our listed range. The moves they made were as follows:

$90 Calls – Range: 6.50-10.70 – Max Gain: 65%
$91 Calls – Range: 6.00-8.65 – Max Gain: 44%
$95 Calls – Range: 2.85-6.00 – Max Gain: 111%

Another Fresh Idea:
Jack in the Box JACK 07/20 $80-90 Calls

Axovant Sciences, Inc. AXON

This will be third consecutive day we’ve had to mention AXON, which we initially tagged on Wednesday morning following a large group of Form-4 buy on Tuesday. This insiders were obviously pre-informed about the news of an $840M+ licensing deal for AXON’s Parkinson’s gene therapy that would be released the following day.

Our sleuthing gave us a leg-up and our call was timed with precision. We observed a low of 3.27 on Tuesday and yesterday the stock saw a high of 6.59, which represents an excellent three-day swing of 102%

Signet Jewelers Ltd. SIG – Options Idea

After noticing its solid beat on earnings and reassured guidance yesterday morning in the premarket, we selected a range of options ideas for the SIG chain. Post-earnings options calls have become our bread and butter, and SIG provided yet another example of the reason for that.

Our designated observation range was the SIG Weekly $47.50-50 Calls and all but the 49.50’s enjoyed considerable single-session gains for the day.

$47.50 Calls – Range: 3.70-6.30 – Max Gain: 70%
$48 Calls – Range: 3.21-7.12 – Max Gain: 122%
$48.50 Calls – Range: 3.10-6.00 – Max Gain: 94%
$49 Calls – Range: 2.72-6.17 – Max Gain: 127%
$50 Calls – Range: 1.97-5.21 – Max Gain: 164%

Fresh Options Idea:
Five Below, Inc. FIVE Weekly $90-95 Calls

Axovant Sciences, Inc. AXON

We also included a tag of AXON in yesterday morning’s report, and were met with a pretty good chance for a daily profit there as well. We noticed a slew of Form-4 buys come in on Tuesday, and lo and behold, yesterday the company released news of an $840M+ licensing deal for its Parkinson’s gene therapy.

From a morning low of 3.27, the stock reached a high of 4.64, representing a modest, but very respectable 42% move on the day. We’ll be sure to leave it on our radar in the event that a more sustained move is in the cards.
