Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Options Review & More

SPDRA S&P 500 ETF (SPY)

After following up a string of successful SPY calls from last week, we added a fresh quick-strike idea yesterday morning. With the markets looking ready to pop after positive jobs numbers were released, we signaled our interest in tracking the SPY 07/09 $275.50-277 Calls.

Trading options with same-day expiry always carries a high risk, but in this case, it was well worth it, with each of our designated contracts producing gains of a significant nature on the day.

$275.50 Calls – Range: 1.18-2.74 – Max Gain: 132%
$276 Calls – Range: .80-2.01 – Max Gain: 151%
$276.50 Calls – Range: .48-1.42 – Max Gain: 196%
$277 Calls – Range: .23-.93 – Max Gain: 304%
_____

Tesla, Inc. TSLA

An idea that we formulated on Friday was with some extended term TSLA Calls. We wanted to remind readers of these contracts this morning, as the stock is behaving like we might now see the move that we predicted at the end of last week.

The TSLA 08/02 $300-315 Calls should be in line to see some nice gains with the stock itself gapping up hard here in the premarket.

Fresh Idea:
For another fresh options trading idea on the heels of PEP’s earning beat, we’re going to be tracking the activity in the PepsiCo, Inc. PEP $109-112 Calls.

RiceBran Technology RIBT

We have included RIBT in our reports on each of the past two Mondays, and the stock has made appreciable moves to the upside in that time span.

Between our initial alert last Monday, after a low of 2.21 from which the stock hasn’t looked back, yesterday’s new high reached 3.09, marking a one week upswing of 40% We’ll be interested to see how far the stock can continue to streak into blue skies.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Options Roundup

Winnebago Industries, Inc. WGO - Options Recap

We took notice of Winnebago’s impressive earnings beat yesterday morning and promptly formulated a range of options ideas to try to take advantage of the situation.

We’ll selected the WGO Weekly $43-46 Calls to put on watch, and each of the four contracts in that range turned out to be a solid intraday mover. The following are the total possible gains which could have been banked off of these ideas on the day:

$53 Calls – Range: 2.29-4.30 – Max Gain: 88%
$54 Calls – Range: 2.00-3.60 – Max Gain: 80%
$55 Calls – Range: 1.50-3.00 – Max Gain: 100%
$60 Calls – Range: 1.18-2.40 – Max Gain: 103%

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: FIVE Recap & More

Five Below, Inc. FIVE – Options Recap

The fresh options idea we included in yesterday morning’s premarket report, the FIVE Weekly $90-95 Calls, was related to the company’s Q1 earnings report and strong guidance.

Unsurprisingly, those ideas provided us with solid chances for intraday profits as the stock ran from the $95 to the $100 range on the day. Be aware that despite the odd increments, the following are all of the contracts contained within our listed range. The moves they made were as follows:

$90 Calls – Range: 6.50-10.70 – Max Gain: 65%
$91 Calls – Range: 6.00-8.65 – Max Gain: 44%
$95 Calls – Range: 2.85-6.00 – Max Gain: 111%

Axovant Sciences, Inc. AXON

This will be third consecutive day we’ve had to mention AXON, which we initially tagged on Wednesday morning following a large group of Form-4 buy on Tuesday. This insiders were obviously pre-informed about the news of an $840M+ licensing deal for AXON’s Parkinson’s gene therapy that would be released the following day.

Our sleuthing gave us a leg-up and our call was timed with precision. We observed a low of 3.27 on Tuesday and yesterday the stock saw a high of 6.59, which represents an excellent three-day swing of 102%

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: TNTR Recap & More

Tintri, Inc. TNTR

Our bottom call of TNTR yesterday morning to kick off the short week could not have been more perfectly timed. For more than two months the stock had been crushed down ever lower, reaching a new 52-week low once again on Friday.

We noted a significant swell in the amount of short interest in the stock, and now it appears as if the squeeze is on- the bottom bounce we said we’d be watching closely for happened right on cue and it was no small move. The stock saw its low at .36 and subsequently ran to .71, marking an intraday rip of 97%

We’re going to want to watch out for a more sustained recovery, and look to TNTR to establish higher lows over the coming sessions.

Dicks Sporting Goods, Inc. DKS

Dicks posted its quarterly report, and took off like a rocket in the premarket today, shooting up over 20% on a hefty earnings neat and raised guidance going forward.

We’re always in the mood to take advantage of a rapid spike in price action and volatility. We like to use options to leverage the activity to our benefit, and in this particular case, we are going to want to cast a wide net and keep a close eye on the DKS Weekly $35-40 Calls.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Bottom-Plays & More

Big Board Bottom Plays

Ra Pharmaceuticals, Inc. RARX – The first of a pair of NASDAQ-listed stocks with nice chart setups, RARX has actually been building a solid recovery trend off of its bottom since last week. A couple of Form-4 filings around the same time show two huge $15M blocks purchase by two separate insiders at the stock’s lows.

Meanwhile, there’s still a fair bit of ground to recover from what it has lost in the past ten weeks or so. RARX flirted with its 50DMA yesterday, so we’ll be looking for a break past that point, with indicators on the chart suggesting a fair chance of that happening.

___________

Liberty Tax, Inc. TAX – We’ve also noted the recent bludgeoning of TAX, which has been in a general downtrend for the better part of five months. In this case, we haven’t reached bottom-bouncer status yet, but more of a bottom-watch. At present, the stock is now heavily oversold, on the heels of the dismissal of its CEO.

With tax season upon us, this is the time of year that we’d expect companies such as TAX to do their highest volume of business, so now seems as good a time as any to track this play for a bottom-bounce.

Advance Auto Parts, Inc. AAP

The last time we talked about AAP was a few months back, and we managed to find some nice gain opportunities within the AAP options chain following the company’s strong quarterly report.

AAP reported quarterly earnings once again this morning, and we thought we’d take another crack at it, by signaling the AAP 03/16 $105-115 Calls for observation.
