Good Start to the Trading Week, New Plays

Solid Start to the Week:

We got off on a good foot for Monday’s premarket report, despite a real lack of big name earnings reporters. The only two potential plays that really jumped out to us yesterday did, however, post some nice double bag moves for us on the session.

We had signaled our interest in tracking the ARLP 02/17 $22.50-25 Calls, and the GEHC Weekly $70-68.50 Puts, and we got some very nice movement from each set of ideas on the day. Today’s earnings plays deal with some much bigger names, so our week should continue along an interesting trajectory. Here’s the breakdown of the gains that were possible through yesterday’s targets:

Major Movers from Friday, Fresh Ideas

Friday’s Options Runners:

We are ready to kick off another great week of trading, and as always, our first order of business is going to be to rehash our ideas from Friday and see what kind of noise they made for us. We were right down the middle with two bullish and two bearish ideas. The markets posted mainly a positive session, but that didn’t stop our shorts from recording solid gains as well.

Our fresh targets for the day were the TSLA Weekly $161-163 Calls, the AXP Weekly $162.50-165 Calls, the CL 02/17 72.50-70 Puts and the INTC Weekly $28-27 Puts. It appears we may have erred in the strikes on our TSLA Calls, with the $162.50’s being the only contract set in the range we listed, so we’ll just list the gains made there, which were quite considerable. The rest of our ideas also posted some excellent runs for the session:

TSLA Weekly $161-163 Calls
$162.50:
 1.55-18.05 (+1064%)
_____

AXP Weekly $162.50-165 Calls
$162.50: 3.55-12.60 (+255%)
$165: 2.01-10.65 (+430%)
_____

CL 02/17 72.50-70 Puts

Reviewing Friday’s Movers

Reviewing Friday’s Movers

We’re going to kick off the fresh trading week this morning by going over the performances of the plays we submitted in Friday’s premarket report. Those included targets in the US Steel, Cleveland-Cliffs, and Capital One options chains. It was a wrap-up to an already successful week, and we ended it on a high note.

We had the X Weekly $8.50 Calls, the CLF Weekly $8.50-9 Calls, and the COF Weekly $78-80 Calls, and they all produced significant moves on the day. Here’s a rundown of the kinds of gains that were on the table for traders:

X Weekly $8.50 Calls

$8.50: 1.11-1.86 (+68%)
_____

CLF Weekly $8.50-9 Calls
$8.50

_____

Fresh Options Ideas:
NRZ $9-8 Puts
SAP $130-120 Puts

Spartan Energy Acquisition Corp. SPAQ

We’re just days away from SPAQ’s vote on a merger with Electric Vehicle maker, Fisker, whose new EV set for launch, ‘The Ocean’, is laying claim to the title of ‘Most Sustainable Vehicle Ever’.

It’s an interesting scenario, and with the stock at a relative low on the chart at the moment, we are going to place some longer term options on watch, with the SPAQ 12/18 $10-12.50 Calls.
