Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Options Idea, Rebound Play

Alphabet Inc. GOOG – Options Idea

We want to start things off today by focusing on the possibility of taking advantage of the heavy activity in GOOG on the heels of its post-market earnings release yesterday. As one would expect from an untraded-upon earnings beat, GOOG is spiking considerably in early trading. On a related note, the new figures seem to have allowed Google to surpass Apple for the title of largest U.S. company.

We’ll be on the lookout for a potential early dip, then scan for the choicest action within the range of GOOG Weekly $780-800 Calls. We could be in line to see some hefty intraday and/or intraweek swings out of those contracts if things play out as we suspect they might.

3D Systems Corp. DDD

Despite a general bearish sentiment toward the 3D-printing sector as a whole in the media of late, we are seeing a potential opportunity with regard to DDD. Despite the array of poor publicity hitting newswires, the stock has been bucking the trend with a steady stair-stepping approach up off of its annual lows for the past couple of weeks.

The chart has an attractive look as you can see below, so we’re going to want to monitor DDD in the days and weeks ahead as its chances for an extended recovery seem fair. The first signal we’ll be looking out for is a breach of prior resistance at the highlighted level of 8.50.

Adaptive Medias, Inc. ADTM

ADTM took off like a rocket yesterday on news of a buyout offer of roughly nine times the company’s market cap leading into the session. What resulted was a scramble for shares, and the upward pressure pushed the stock all the way from an early low in the .40-range up to the mid-.70 area.

Subject to shareholder approval, the all-cash transaction would offer $35M, or 1.50/share. From current levels, reaching that price point would mark a roughly 100% move the the upside. We’ll have our eyes peeled for further updates on the deal, as well as the immediate effect that the news will continue to have on the stock.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Successful Options Plays & More

Options Recap

We kicked off this short trading week with a couple of options ideas yesterday, and both plays got off to a good start.

Tiffany & Co. TIF

TIF was our top-billed options idea from yesterday morning’s premarket report, wherein we signaled our interest in tracking contracts in the range of TIF Weekly $66.50-64 Puts for quick-strike opportunities. The company announced less-than-favorable results for the quarter which set the stock up for a tumble, just as we’d suspected.

The contracts that jumped out to us as seeing the most activity were the $65’s and $64’s. The $65 Puts traded up from a daily low of .51 and hit 1.65 for potential intraday gains of up to 223%, while the $64 Puts jumped 132% from .56-1.30.

We’ll leave ourselves open to the idea of seeing even more downside on TIF, especially with market conditions in general continuing to lag.

_____

Netflix, Inc. NFLX

Our other options trading idea from yesterday was pertaining to NFLX. We said we wanted to take advantage of the anticipation leading into yesterday’s post-market quarterly earnings reveal, and our strategy worked to a tee.

We had set our sights on NFLX Weekly $105-107 Calls to take advantage of what we were observing, and every set in that range produced chances for notable intraday profits:

$105 Calls – Trading Range: 7.00-9.50  – Max Gain: 36%
$106 Calls – Trading Range: 6.30- 9.25 – Max Gain: 47%
$107 Calls – Trading Range: 6.02-8.40 – Max Gain: 40%

NFLX did beat Wall Street’s expectations, and is presently bucking the overall trends as it gaps up here in the premarket. We’re going to look to roll up our target strike prices to the range of $110-112 Calls as our previously tracked range has now been pushed deep into the money.

Other Noteworthy Gainers

We had a couple of plays on the stock side of things make decent moves after appearing on yesterday’s premarket watchlist. While they didn’t quite go exponential on us, both of the following made good, solid moves to the upside during yesterday’s session.

Pleasant Kids, Inc. PLKD

PLKD saw its low come in at .2109, and it got off to a fast start, reaching its high of .285  within roughly the first half hour of trading. That logged as an intraday pop of 35% The company is aiming at a name and symbol change (Next Group Holdings, Inc. NEXT) after its recently completed merger (View 8-K). The request is still being processed by FINRA at this time, but we’ll keep our eyes open for updates, and remain on this plays trail as long as it can hold support above yesterday’s swing low.

____

Goodrich Petroleum Corp. GDPM

The other stock from yesterday’s watchlist  to produce an intraday spike was GDPM, which recently delisted from the NYSE to the OTC (Formerly NYSE:GDP). We witnessed the stock run from a low of .071 to .095, a respectable 33% pop which occurred on slightly higher-than-average volume. It managed to close at .088, holding a good portion of yesterday’s daily advances, so we’ll let it remain on our radars as we cruise through this midweek.

Extended Watchlist:

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: TPAC, TRTC Recaps & More

 TerraTech Corp. TRTC

TRTC is a stock we’ve been familiar with in the past that we re-alerted in yesterday’s premarket report, and the timing was excellent. The recent surge in this marijuana stock was catalyzed by Tuesday’s announcement that the company had acquired one of California’s highest-volume medical cannabis dispensaries (>>View PR)

Tuesday’s session brought a comparatively modest move before the news really had a chance to circulate, but the fact that the deal creates the first dispensary attached to a publicly-traded vehicle cause large outlets such as Forbes and TIME Money to post articles on TRTC toward the end of the day.

The buzz generated enabled us to swoop in with our premarket mention yesterday just in the nick of time to catch the stock’s run from a low of .1148 all the way .182 for a solid 59% intraday surge. The stock managed to hold at .1797 into the close and did so on over ten times the 3-month average volume, so we’ll definitely keep watch over the impending activity today.

Trans-Pacific Aerospace Co., Inc. TPAC

TPAC was a huge call for us yesterday morning as well producing a potential double-bagger for traders despite the fact that we had already tracked it to huge gains just recently.

We began mentioning TPAC midway through December, and around that time we’d observe the stock trading at a low of .0006. We continued to track it over a huge run-up which culminated in the mid-.006 range last week before the stock started to see some consolidation.

Yesterday morning’s re-alert was a result of our noticing TPAC rebounding off of a bottom on Tuesday, and the recovery continued as it ran from .0018-.0039 on the day. That goes down in the books as a 117% intraday surge from a stock that has now treated us to multiple swing-trade opportunities in recent weeks.

Ambient Water Corp. AWGI

Also coming off of yesterday’s watchlist with a respectable intraday performance was AWGI, which took off from a low of .0076 and reached .0109. That represents a nice intraday run of 43% and it came on massive volume of just over fifteen times the 3-month average.  That definitely raises AWGI to potential momentum-play status, so we’ll need to keep an eye peeled for further activity as things get going this morning.

Chatroom Reminder

We caught PVAH in yesterday’s live trader’s chatroom, and would have a chance to jump in as low .047 before it ran up to .083 for an intraday move over over 75% It’s definitely one that we will want to continue to watch for the establishment of higher base levels of support moving forward.

It also gives us a reason to remind our readers that participation in our daily trader’s chats which currently take place via Skype is as simple as sending a contact request to username ‘stocksumo‘. All of our loyal readers are most welcome to join in!
