Invesco Solar (ETF) TAN – Recap

On Thurday’s morning, we were getting strong bullish signals from the solar sector, and in order to stay on top of that trend we decided to track a set of options ideas in the TAN chain, with TAN being to the solar space what the SPY is to the markets as a whole.

Our targets were the TAN 10/16 $54-56 Calls and we saw some very nice activity from those plays on Friday.

TAN 10/16 $54-56 Calls
$54: 3.10-4.60 (+48%)
$55: 1.90-4.21 (+122%)
$56: 1.75-3.60 (+106%)

We also had signaled the TCOM 10/16 $27-29 Calls for observation on Friday morning, and those saw some solid intraday gains.

TCOM 10/16 $27-29 Calls
$27: 2.62-3.47 (+32%)
$28: 1.88-2.81 (+49%)
$29: 1.18-2.06 (+75%)

All American Gold Corp. AAGC

We will also provide an update on AAGC which we mentioned on Wednesday morning. We observed a subsequent low of .0008 and to close out the week with a bang, the stock hit a new high of .0024.

This subpenny runner amounted to potential gains of up to 200% and was a good diversion from our typical big board options interests.

Closing Out Another Positive Trading Week

Just Energy Group Inc. JE

We placed a big focus on solar energy yesterday morning, with our watchlist containing several targets in that market space. One of which was JE, which produced a multibag run on the day, trading up from a low of .352 and hitting .81. That works out to an intraday move of 130%

Invesco Solar (ETF) TAN

One of yesterday’s other solar plays was the TAN 10/16 $54-56 Calls that we signaled from the Invesco solar index in our report. The $54’s got pushed a bit too deep in the money, but the $55-56’s produced some solid intraday moves for us.

The $55 Calls ran from 2.35-3.07 for a gain of  31%, while the $56’s posted a rise from 1.95-2.80, which works out to 44%

All American Gold Corp. AAGC

We also want to track back to AAGC, a subpenny stock we flagged on Wednesday morning. In the two ensuing sessions, it has managed two notable swings.

It ran first from .0009-.0018, an upswing of 100% and then pulled back to .0008 before once again making a move to .0017, marking a 112% rip.

Solar is Red Hot

Keeping an Eye on Solar

This week has brought some very interesting plays in the solar energy sector. We’ve already seen big gains from SPI Energy Inc. SPI, JinkoSolar Holdings. Inc. JKS, and SunWorks Inc. SUNW, and would like to keep our eyes peeled for other opportunities in the arena which may be boosted by the volatility in those moves.

Yesterday alone, SPI went parabolic as it popped off from a low of 3.30 and hit 46.67 for an intraday run of over 1300%, SUNW ran from .73-4.57 (+526%), and JKS continued a month long run with a solid jump from 28.30 to 33.74 (+19%).

What this all tells us, is that a lot of eyeballs are sure to be flooding the solar space in coming sessions, and we’d like to formulate an options idea in the Invesco Solar ETF (TAN), which is presently flirting with a double top, the breaking of which would put it into blue sky territory. To make things interesting, we are going to place the TAN 10/16 $54-56 Calls on watch.
