Blue Horseshoe Stocks: RIOT, EGBN & More

Riot Blockchain, Inc. RIOT

We began tracking RIOT on November 2nd at a low of 6.33, mentioning it three times over the course of the next month. The stock saw a massive run ending last Monday hitting a high of 21.76, for a hefty move of 244%

It spent the rest of the week beginning to rebound off of the pullback to the $12-range which followed that huge spike, and is presently trading back in the $16-range. We’re going to want to continue to keep an eye on this blockchain related play, as almost anything even remotely tied to the white-hot sector has a chance to see further surges at any time if the price of BTC sees more new highs. As of this morning, one Bitcoin is worth just over $11,000USD.

Verizon, Inc. VZ

It has been a very solid run for VZ since we signaled a range of contracts to observe on the morning of November 17th, the VZ 01/19 $45-48 Calls.  We saw the stock trading at 44.62, and that was followed by sessions after session of new highs leading all the way through Friday, when it reached  51.55.

We wanted to provide yet another update on the total ranges of gains that were available in our options idea in the two weeks we’ve been tracking it now:

VZ 01/19 $45-48 Calls
$45 Calls – Range: 1.08 -6.40 – Max Gain: 493%
$46 Calls – Range: .59-5.48 – Max Gain: 829%
$47 Calls – Range: .39-4.56 – Max Gain: 1069%
$48 Calls – Range: .23-3.34 – Max Gain: 1352%

Eagle Bancorp, Inc. EGBN

We noticed an interesting set of events playing out with EGBN- the stock absolutely fell off a cliff last week, tumbling from nearly $70 on Wednesday, to the low $46-range on Friday. Apparently it was the result of a hyped up short seller report by Aurelius Value, an anonymous online firm that supports short-sellers. The company published a statement of its own calling the report “a deceptive and materially misleading piece“.

We tend to give credence to the actual company’s public statement rather than a group of shorts hiding behind a curtain somewhere. That’s why we’re going to place the EGBN 12/15 $50-60 Calls on watch in the days and weeks ahead, for what should be a forthcoming recovery in EGBN.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: DE Review & More

Deere & Co. DE – Options Review

We were following a group of ideas in the DE options chain last week, and saw some really nice activity both before and after the Thanksgiving holiday. Despite only a half-day of trading on Friday,  our targets, the Deere & Co. DE Weekly $143-146 Calls,  enjoyed new highs on the day.

We mentioned to our readers that despite seeing multi-bag gains prior to the holiday, it appeared as if they were in line for further moves to the upside, and we were absolutely correct. The following figures represent our observed lows from Wednesday morning, and the subsequent ranges to Friday’s impressive new highs:

DE Weekly $143-146 Calls
$143 Calls –
Range:  .82-4.80 – Max Gain: 485%
$144 Calls – Range:  .50-3.82 – Max Gain: 664%
$145 Calls – Range:  .30-2.80 – Max Gain: 833%
$146 Calls – Range: .19-1.86 – Max Gain: 879%

To throw into contrast the kind of success we’ve had over the past few weeks with our options trading ideas, keep in mind that these gains are mild compared to some of the ones we’ve seen!

Marathon Patent Group, Inc. MARA

We slated MARA for observation a few weeks ago back on November 2nd, and at the time, we’d witness a low of 1.19 in the stock. Despite shortened holiday weeks being traditionally subdued, that did not apply to MARA last week as it streaked to some very pleasing new highs. On Friday’s short day, the stock ran all the way up to 6.04, marking an increase of 408% for the month of November.

This morning, it gapped up like crazy, seeing a high of 16.99 in premarket trading, which extended that range to a walloping 1328% The stock did come back down to Earth, but is still trading higher than Friday’s highs, so we’re very curious to see how the start to this fresh and full trading week is going to play out for MARA.

VelocityShares 3x Long Nat Gas ETN (UGAZ)

We also want to begin tracking the activity in UGAZ, a Natural Gas ETN. Not only is this Note approaching heavily oversold territory after having just set a new annual low on Friday, but we’re heading into the thick of the cold weather season, when such heating fuels go into much higher demand.

We’re already seeing a gap up this morning, and will put  UGAZ on an extended term bottom watch. A hypothetical return to its prices from early this summer would approach a double-bagger on the chart from here.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Cannabis Sector Heating Up Again

Cannabis Comments

We got head-faked a little bit in terms of the cannabis sector in the past year or so. Leading up to last fall, anything even remotely tied to marijuana was going through the roof, with seemingly no end in sight. Then a regime change in Washington led to the appointment of self-avowed cannabis hater Jeff Sessions to the head of the DOJ. That led to a considerable cooling of what was previously the hottest market sector.

That being said, it has been business as usual for companies operating in the space in places that have taken the step of ending prohibition. Growth is happening all around, and the investment community has taken notice. The cannabis sector is showing signs of heating up once again, so we want to return to some of the plays we’ve covered in the past and highlight a few that could stand to see some good moves in the days and weeks ahead.

Dewmar International, Inc. DEWM – We just signaled our interest in DEWM in Friday morning’s premarket report, and the stock made a solid two-session swing. From Friday’s low of .0108 to .0163 yesterday, marking a move of 51% We’ll want to continue to track its movements, particularly after this morning’s news.

DEWM announced today that it filed a provisional patent with the US Patent and Trademark Office for the treatment of lung cancer with cannabinoids, so that’s going to be another interesting storyline to follow with respect to DEWM.

Also going on our refreshed cannabis watchlist of previously tracked stocks will be PNTV, POTN, MCIG, MCOA, and TRTC.

Netflix, Inc. NFLX – Options

We’re always looking for a good post-earnings options play and we may have one with NFLX this morning. Up 10% in premarket trading on a solid beat, we’re going to be looking for a potential dip-and-rip scenario that could lead to some hefty intraday moves. Our targets are going to be the NFLX Weekly $172.50-180 Calls.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Kicking Off a New Trading Week

Ocean Rig UDW Inc. ORIG

We’ve had ORIG on bottom-watch for just under a month now, as the stock was undergoing a consolidation that appeared unsustainable. It seemed just a matter of time before it began to rebound, so we were monitoring it for a signal and got one in a big way on Friday.

ORIG came off its newly-registered annual low of .12 and traded up as high as .237, a 98% rise which occurred on ten times the monthly average volume. More importantly, the stock managed to crack through its 50DMA at .19, and held above that mark with a closing price of .20.

We’re going to want to continue to track ORIG, looking for the registering of higher lows off of its recent bottom. The RSI is also screaming toward the power zone, so we’ll hope to see ORIG string together a multi-day run.

Camber Energy, Inc. CEI

Speaking of stocks that are gaining strength, CEI has been in a pretty convincing ascending wedge pattern recently, routinely recording higher highs and higher lows off of its annual lows established late June.

We’ve pointed out on the chart below where the next key areas of resistance are, so we’ll want to track CEI to see if it can maintain its current trajectory and make a run at those areas on the chart.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Options, Updates & More

Twitter, Inc. TWTR – Options Recap

Our formulated ideas for the TWTR options chain from yesterday morning’s premarket report turned out to offer up some fantastic chances to profit. We spotted just the right conditions before market hours and pounced, designating the TWTR Weekly $15-16 Calls to be our targets.

It certainly wasn’t the first time we’ve used Twitter in this manner, and it probably won’t be the last. Regardless of which set of contracts was chosen, multi-bag, single-session gains were there for the taking:

$15 Calls – Range: .30-1.49 – Max Gain: 397%
$15.50 Calls – Range: .40-1.00 – Max Gain: 150%
$16 Calls – Range: .21-.61 – Max Gain: 190%
_________

FRESH Options Idea: UPS 05/05 $108-111 Calls

Akebia Therapeutics, Inc. AKBA

An honorable mention from yesterday’s report was AKBA, which we tagged for observation after noticing some abnormal premarket activity on our routine morning scan.

The stock traded in a respectable range from a low of 11.08 to as high as 13.94. That works out to an intraday move of 26% which came on massive volume of an astonishing 110X the 30-day average! It also managed to close holding roughly half of its daily increase at 12.50, so we’re definitely going to be on the lookout for continued activity in AKBA, which could include a dip-and-rip pattern at some point.

American Leisure Holdings, Inc. AMLH

We tracked AMLH over some monstrous gains from the end of March, to earlier this month. The move took it from super-subpenny lows of .0003 to a high of .007 (+2233%), so we weren’t at all surprised to see a consolidation period follow over the next several sessions.

The stock did however find support and make a reversal off of the .0029 level beginning last week, and heading back up to its previous high of .007 yesterday, marking a 141% swing. We’ll look for the stock to break through that resistance at .007, which would effectively put AMLH into Blue Sky Breakout mode, and trading at its highest prices since the Fall of 2015.
