Blue Horseshoe Stocks: VTVT Recap & More

vTv Therapeutics, Inc. VTVT

Our report yesterday morning included  a look at the VTVT chart, and establishing our interest in tracking it as a bottom play. Our timing in this really could not have been any better as the stock not only made it biggest single session move of the year, but also traded its highest volume.

VTVT ran from a low of .79 and reached as high as 1.67, a 53% intraday rip, and ended up closing at 1.19, filling a portion of the large gap which you can plainly see below. Based on the activity we’ve now witnessed, and the still-ripe look of the chart, we’re going to continue to keep a close watch over VTVT.

Van Eck Vectors Gold Miners ETF (GDX)

We also want to begin tracking a pair of options contracts in the GDX chain. Gold has been doing well and looks as if another solid day could be in the cards.

On that event, there should be some nice activity in the GDX Weekly $22.50 & $23 Calls, so we’ll be monitoring for that.

Tandem Diabetes Care, Inc. TNDM – Update

It was a week ago today that we were commenting on our coverage of TNDM in 2018. We caught this stock at a low of 2.14 earlier this year, and it has come a long way since then.

This week the stock has traded up to a high of 7.75, marking an increase of 262% since we began tracking it.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: BABA Review & More

Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. BABA – Update

After noticing a strong double-bottom setup on the chart, we threw our hat in the ring with BABA yesterday morning by formulating an options idea to track during what we described as an overdue recovery.

The stock did exhibit the first signs of that recovery, thereby producing some nice single-session gain opportunities for ourselves and our readers. Our targeted options were the BABA 05/04 $180-187.50 Calls, and regardless of the strike price chosen within our designated range, notable able intraday profits were there for the taking.

$180 Calls – Range: 3.60-5.10  – Max Gain: 42%
$182.50 Calls – Range: 2.80-3.75 – Max Gain: 34%
$185 Calls – Range: 2.21-3.05 – Max Gain: 38%
$187.50 Calls – Range: 1.74-2.27 – Max Gain: 30%

There is, of course, plenty of time before these contracts expire, so we’ll continue monitor these ideas going forward in the event that BABA stock continues its rebounding ways. Further opportunities may arise and we’ll want to be ready.

Tandem Diabetes Care, Inc. TNDM – Update

We also wanted to update everyone on another longer term idea we formulated that has definitely worked out in our favor. We’ve had a number of stocks that we signaled our interest in earlier in 2018 slowly and steadily make monster moves for us, and TNDM is the latest one.

We initially slated this play for observation In mid-January, and after only a slight consolidation at the beginning of February, the stock established support at a low of 2.14, reversed, and began a really impressive bull run that was amplified by a significant degree yesterday. TNDM ran to a new high of 7.22. That works out to a 237% increase here in the early goings of the 2018 calendar year.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: KODK Options & More

Eastman Kodak Co. KODK

In a surprise development yesterday, Kodak announced that it would be the latest company to hop on the cryptocurrency bandwagon, with the upcoming launching of its own crypto coin, KODAKcoin. It is said to be in development for a photo rights licensing platform the photography pioneer is working on.

While that’s all well and good, what we have seen on the KODK chart amounts to little more than a hype fueled surge, which we believe to be unsustainable over the long term. What we want to do to try to use this situation to our advantage is set ourselves up with some bearish options ideas to follow in the weeks ahead.

We;re going to signal the KODK 02/16 $15 & $12.50 Puts. It gives us plenty of time to see KODK top out and begin to come back to Earth, which would certainly provide chances in those contracts on the way down.

Xunlei Ltd. XNET

The most recent time that we tagged XNET was a month ago tomorrow, on December 11th, and shortly thereafter the stock would log a low of 12.30. From that point it launched into what has been a very solid run over the past few weeks.

The stock cracked the twenty-dollar barrier yesterday, and this morning in the premarket, has reached a new high of 24.90 which marks a double-bag move of 102% in just four short weeks!

XNET had a huge similar run from October to November as well, where it topped out at an even $27/share. We’ll continue to monitor the stock in coming sessions, and look for it to retest those previous highs.
