Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Bearish Options, Bottom Play

Cracker Barrel Old Country Store Inc. CBRL – Recap

First up this morning is a quick recap of the fresh options idea we formulated for yesterday morning’s premarket report. We had designated the CBRL Weekly $165-170 Calls as our targets of interest.

Two of those three contract sets produced opportunities for multi-bag gains on the day, with the third not far behind:

$165 Calls – Range: 5.25-9.57 – Max Gain:
227%
$167.50 Calls – Range: 1.20-3.50 – Max Gain: 393%
$170 Calls – Range: .56-1.45 – Max Gain: 227%

DURRECT Corp. DRRX – Recap

DRRX is a play that we began tracking last month (08/07). Following that initial report, we observed the stock trading for as little 1.22.

In the four weeks which have followed, DRRX has been a steady riser, stair-stepping its way gradually up to its new high yesterday of an even 2.00/share. That works out to a very respectable rise of 64%

Neurotrope, Inc. NTRP

We also want to shine a light on the current setup of the chart on NTRP. Poor marks on for its Alzheimer’s treatment should have pushed it down quite a bit, but there seems to be no readily apparent reason why the stock should have fallen as low as it did following the lackluster report on the company’s clinical trials.

At present the stock is hugely oversold, and from a technical standpoint alone, could begin a reversal on little more than a breath of air. Indication from the MACD suggests convergence toward a bullish cross in the making. Should enough people catch on to the present scenario and load up cheap shares at current pricing, it could happen sooner rather than later. Even a partial fill of the massive gap on the chart would mean big gain chances.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: ARDX Recap, Options Ideas

Ardelyx, Inc. ARDX

We selected ARDX yesterday morning for inclusion in our daily extended watchlist, and to be perfectly honest, our timing couldn’t have been much better. The stock exploded out of the gate, and despite a down day for the markets at large, ARDX bucked the trend with its biggest single session move since 2017.

The stock managed an intraday range of 3.77-5.95 which works out to a daily gain of 58% The stock ended the session with a bullish close 5.82, losing very little of its gained ground  That puts it in the class of possible momentum mover, so we’ll certainly continue to keep our eyes peeled for further gain opportunities.

PVH Corp. PVH

Following an earnings beat last week for the owner of the once extremely popular Tommy Hilfiger clothing brand, PVH has been making attempts to come up off of its bottom for a few sessions. Today, we’ve spotted a $10M Form-4 buy from the CEO, and coupled with the positioning of the chart, we would like to signal an options idea for the chain.

Taking all of the current circumstances into account, we are going to be tracking the PVH 09/20 $75-85 Calls, in the days and weeks to come.

Bonus Idea:

Dollar General Corp. DG

We highlighted a wide range of calls in the DG chain yesterday morning on the heels of the company’s earnings release, the DG Weekly $94-96.50 Calls

While every contract in the range did see intraday gains, we’ll just focus on the $94-95.50’s, as the $96 & $96.50’s didn’t get pushed deep enough in the money to make similarly large moves.

$94 Calls – Range: .50-1.93 – Max Gain: 286%
$94.50 Calls – Range: .42-1.46 – Max Gain: 248%
$95 Calls – Range: .30-1.40 – Max Gain: 367%
$95.50 Calls – Range:  .30-1.00 – Max Gain: 233%

Burlington Stores, Inc. BURL

We also had the BURL 03/16 $120 & $125 Calls on watch beginning last Thursday, and between then and now, we ended up witnessing some nice moves from those plays.

Our observed range on the $120’s has been 4.04-9.53 (+136%), and the $125 have run from 1.35-4.73 (+250%) in just a week’s time.

SPDR S&P 500 ETF (SPY)

We’re going to come back to the SPY today after having seen the markets experience four consecutive days of losses this week.

We’ll be looking for a reversal of fortune for the SPY, and will be tracking the Weekly $274-275.50 Calls* today.

*Do NOT trade weekly calls on a Friday unless you are an expert level trader!
