Blue Horseshoe Stocks: VTVT New Highs & More

vTv Therapeutics, Inc. VTVT

We’ve been closely tracking VTVT since including it our report on Tuesday morning as a bottom play. As we mentioned yesterday, the timing was essentially perfect. It took off on Tuesday, and yesterday that run persisted just as we suggested it may.

The stock traded in a range from 1.24 to a new high of 2.67 yesterday, representing an intraday move of 115% From Tuesday’s low of .79 the stock has registered a two-day upswing of 238% and has easily been the NASDAQ’s top play of the week.

Onconova Therapeutics, Inc. ONTX

Speaking of bottom plays, we’re always searching for the next heavily oversold stock, and we’ve got a candidate to bring forth today in ONTX. As you can plainly view on the chart snapshot below, the stock has been heavily sold off, and the RSI is definitely giving off that heavily oversold signal.

The last time that happened the stock did mount an appreciable recovery in the ensuing weeks, so we’re going to put ONTX on extended watch.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Bottom-Watch Plays & More

Ford Motor Co. F
Ford is the first of a couple of bottom-watch plays we want to signal for observation as we kick off a fresh trading week. The month of January was rough for the Detroit automaker, bringing a precipitous fall into heavily oversold territory.

We are just now, in February, beginning to see the signs of a recovery. As you can see on the snapshot of the chart below, the stock has just started to come off of being oversold and bounce off of its lowest PPS since August. The MACD also appears to be converging for an upcoming cross, and there’s a gap to the upside as well.

We’ll look to take advantage of this setup by tracking the F 03/02 10.37-11.37 Calls in the days and weeks ahead.

BioMarin Pharmaceutical, Inc. BMRN

Another potential bottom play we want to look at this morning is BMRN, which also recently has been beaten down to what we feel are unsustainable low levels. We’re getting a heavy multiple-bottom signal as the strength index is tumbling toward extremely oversold territory.

The look of the MACD suggests some further decrease or sideways trading could occur, which is why we’ll want to look at a set of extended term options contracts, the BMRN 03/16 $80 & 85 Calls. With over a month until expiration, that should give us ample time for the stock to realize the recovery it appears to be building toward.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: KODK Options & More

Eastman Kodak Co. KODK

In a surprise development yesterday, Kodak announced that it would be the latest company to hop on the cryptocurrency bandwagon, with the upcoming launching of its own crypto coin, KODAKcoin. It is said to be in development for a photo rights licensing platform the photography pioneer is working on.

While that’s all well and good, what we have seen on the KODK chart amounts to little more than a hype fueled surge, which we believe to be unsustainable over the long term. What we want to do to try to use this situation to our advantage is set ourselves up with some bearish options ideas to follow in the weeks ahead.

We;re going to signal the KODK 02/16 $15 & $12.50 Puts. It gives us plenty of time to see KODK top out and begin to come back to Earth, which would certainly provide chances in those contracts on the way down.

Xunlei Ltd. XNET

The most recent time that we tagged XNET was a month ago tomorrow, on December 11th, and shortly thereafter the stock would log a low of 12.30. From that point it launched into what has been a very solid run over the past few weeks.

The stock cracked the twenty-dollar barrier yesterday, and this morning in the premarket, has reached a new high of 24.90 which marks a double-bag move of 102% in just four short weeks!

XNET had a huge similar run from October to November as well, where it topped out at an even $27/share. We’ll continue to monitor the stock in coming sessions, and look for it to retest those previous highs.
