Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Cannabis News Play & More

Stereo Vision Entertainment SVSN

We had SVSN hit our scanner this morning after we noticed an interesting PR coming across the wires. We’re always looking for new interests in the cannabis space, and SVSN fits that bill. Unlike many of the companies in the business conduct their activities primarily in the western states, SVSN has an operation in Florida.

The company just announced a February 1, 2018 Grand Opening of its majority owned subsidiary CannaVision’s Bay Pines medical cannabis and holistic pain management clinic in St Petersburg, Florida. (>>View PR)

We’ll be interested to track the progress of this new facility, and SVSN stock itself going forward.

SPDR S&P 500 ETF (SPY)

We also want to throw in a quick options idea for the SPY, which despite a momentary hiccup in its week’s-long bullish trend yesterday, looks to be gapping up and ready to get back on track today. There are a set of contracts expiring today that we want to radar: the SPY 01/17 $277.50-279 Calls*.

Please be aware that contracts approaching expiration are subject to evaporating premiums due to time decay, so these are quick-strike opportunities only. We’ll be looking for the classic early dip and rip pattern, which should present those chances for intraday flips.

*Be aware that this idea is extremely high risk, and for advanced level traders only!

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: DMPI Recap & More

Del Mar Pharmaceuticals, Inc . DMPI

We wanted to swing back around to recap the solid performance of DMPI since we tagged it the day after the Christmas break a couple of weeks back.

It was just a couple sessions later that the stock would find support at .96, and begin a pretty substantial run up the chart. It was helped along by the last six consecutive sessions registering higher base levels of support as the stock has crept all the way up to a high of 1.75, recorded on Friday.

That worked out to a move of 82% in less than two trading weeks, while volume over the same period has been heightened. The high coincided with the current 200DMA, so we’ll look for DMPI to possibly crack that 1.75 mark and head for blue skies.

Kohls Corp KSS

We want to include an options idea for Kohls as we kick off the first full trading week of 2018, on the heels of a solid earnings report.

The company posted strong sales for the holiday season, while giving a significant boost to full year guidance. Shares jumped accordingly in premarket trading, and we are going to be waiting with some targeted weekly contracts to coincide with the activity. We’re going to signal and track the KSS Weekly $58-60 Calls.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: VZ Update & More

My Size, Inc. MYSZ

We had MYSZ in our extended watchlist last monday, and the stock mainly traded sideways for the ensuing few sessions. We re-tagged it yesterday after noticing that the party had finally started, and the result was a very nice trading range on the stock.

From a low of .66 earlier this week, MYSZ reached a high of 1.28 during yesterday’s session, representing a move of 94% over just a short time span. The stock also traded record volume yesterday, se we’ll be sure to keep an eye peeled as we finish out this trading week.

Verizon, Inc. VZ

We’ve had a ton of success stories on the options front recently, and VZ has quickly grown into one of the top performers of the bunch. When we signaled a range of contracts to observe in the VZ chain on November 17th, the VZ 01/19 $45-48 Calls,  the stock itself traded for as little as 44.62. After a nearly continual bullish streak for the past couple of weeks, the stock has gone on to hit a high of  51.09.

That move has of course rocketed our selected contracts to astronomical highs. When we last updated their progress on Wednesday morning, they had offered gains ranging from 240-575% but thanks to two more solid sessions, those figures have been extended considerably.

VZ 01/19 $45-48 Calls
$45 Calls – Range: 1.08 -6.05 – Max Gain: 460%
$46 Calls – Range: .59-5.03 – Max Gain: 753%
$47 Calls – Range: .39-4.00 – Max Gain: 926%
$48 Calls – Range: .23-3.18 – Max Gain: 1283%

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: HMNY, SANP Review & More

Helios and Matheson Analytics, Inc. HMNY

We began tracking HMNY closely on September 20th, and since that time it’s been nothing but blue sky breakout for the stock ever since. On that morning we observed a low of 5.47, and it’s never looked back.

To kick off the week yesterday HMNY soared to an astonishing new high of 23.49, marking a 329% increase in a span of less than three weeks. Volume has also been coming in far above anything the stock saw prior to September.

Santo Mining Corp. SANP

We decided to tag SANP in yesterday morning’s premarket report after noticing the manifestation of some unusual trading activity over the course of last week. It ended up being a solid idea to start of this week, with the stock making a very convincing move to the upside.

From a low of .0013, SANP reached as high as .0021, marking an intraday push of 62%, with the better part of a billion shares changing hands on the day. It was the third consecutive session in which the stock registered higher lows and higher highs, and we’ll be in the lookout for a continuation of that pattern.

Cleantech Solutions International, Inc. CLNT

Another inclusion in yesterday’s report was CLNT, which ran pretty hard early on in the session with the help of a PR alluding to a possible acquisition (>>View PR).

The stock made a move from a low of 5.70 to a high of 8.25- a respectable 45% pop. CLNT ultimately ended up trading an incredible 330X its monthly average volume. While it didn’t maintain at least half of its daily gains into the close, with volume like that, we’ll be sure to keep a slot on our watchlists open for CLNT.

MannKind Corp. MNKD

We saw a pullback in MNKD Friday after a solid move, and we signaled some options calls, MNKD 10/20 $5.50 & $6.00, that pullback gave a great potential entry point. This morning in the premarket, MNKD is gapping up past the $6 mark, pushing the strike prices we targeted into the money.

Its always a good idea to lock in some profits on a gap up, in case a stock decides to pull back. In the event we see do a pullback in this case, we may look to take advantage of the dip by re-entering the position.

MNKD has one of our favorite chart patterns- when the 50DMA breaks above the 200DMA, known as a “Golden Cross”. Stocks tend to breakout when this occurs so we definitely want to continue to track this idea going forward.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: SPY Options & More

SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust – SPY

We’re projecting a solid day for the markets as a whole to close out the week as positive jobs numbers just hit, and usually in these cases, we like to use the SPY to get in on the action in the short term. We’re going to designate the SPY Weekly $247-248.50 Calls* as our contracts of interest.

Not only did hiring stay strong while jobless claims fell , but non-farm payroll gains exceeded expectations by a considerable margin, foreshadowing strength in US labor. To boot, the June Trade Balance figures came in and roughly $1.3B was shaved off of the expected trade deficit. All in all, these are several contributing factors that could certainly energize today’s session, and produce considerable intraday gain opportunities in our highlighted options.

______

GoPro, Inc. GPRO

While we’re thinking of potential quick-strike options plays, we’ve got to take a look at GPRO, which is gapping up in the premarket this morning on the heels of its Q2 earnings beat, and strong outlook. We’ve been familiar with GRPO options in the past, although it has been quite some time.

Prior to these bolstered figures as well as an analyst upgrade from Morgan Stanley this week, GPRO shares had been somewhat stuck in the mud for most of the summer so far. An extended rebound could be in the cards, but for now, we’ll just track today’s activity on the GPRO Weekly $9-10 Calls*.
______

*We don’t include mentions of weekly options contracts on a Friday without explicitly warning our readers every single time. Trading weekly options at the end of the week is an exceedingly risky proposition that should never be attempted by beginning or novice traders!
