Blue Horseshoe Stocks: LXRX Recap & Much More

Lexicon Pharmaceuticals, Inc. LXRX

Our first order of business today is to congratulate any of our readers who were able to turn our premarket alert of LXRX into hefty intraday gains.

We were given ample opportunity to do so, as a hugely significant PR left the stock positively charged for most of the session. A momentous intraday run began from an early low of 10.83 and topped out at an HOD of 13.80. That translates to a 27% jump, which is a very impressive single-session performance for a $10 stock.

If you recall, we hit this one from multiple angles; our options trading idea of tracking Weekly $10 Calls was also good for potential profits. Those contracts traded up from a low of 1.50 all the way to 3.90, which was good for gains of up to 160%

LXRX held the majority of its daily advance, which occurred on well over 30-times the 3-month average volume. That sets the stock up with plenty of momentum, and signals us to keep an eye out in coming sessions for a continuation of such. In the event that occurs, as far as options are concerned, we’d roll our strike price up to the Weekly $12.50 Calls, which already made a heck of a move yesterday from .45-2.00.

Hutchinson Technology, Inc. HTCH

We also want to give a quick update on HTCH, which we entered into the conversation via Friday’s premarket report. We witnessed the beginning of its run that day with a low of 1.60, and subsequent 22% pop to 1.95.

Yesterday, the stock set a new high of 2.25, which marked a two-day increase of 41% In order for us to remain interested in this play. we’ll need to see it continue to record higher lows.

Super-Subpenny Bottom-Watchlist

Here are a couple of stocks trading in the triple-zero range that we thought were worthy of compiling into a potential bottom-play watchlist as we head into midweek. We’ll include charts for the pair illustrating the reasoning behind that:

  Pervasip Corp. PVSP

B2Digital, Inc. BTDG

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Friday Recap & New Interests

Recapping Friday’s Interests

Friday’s session bore some nice opportunities among the plays we were discussing in our premarket report, from both options and stocks.

Our top options target turned out to be Expedia, Inc. EXPE, in which we were tracking the Weekly $115-117 Calls. Every one of the contracts in that range produced chances for multi-bag gains:

$115 Calls – Daily Range: 1.12-5.04 – Max Gain: 350%
$116 Calls – Daily Range: 1.32-6.40 – Max Gain: 385%
$117 Calls – Daily Range: .87-4.12 – Max Gain: 374%

___

On the stock side of things, we were observing Hutchinson Technology, Inc. HTCH which had caught our eye on a routine premarket scan for abnormal activity. The stock responded with a solid session to close out the week, trading from a low of 1.60, and reaching as high as 1.95; a respectable 22% intraday move.
___

We also wanted to say a quick word about Wizard World, Inc. WIZD, which we called as a potential bottom-play after noticing the stock tumbling to new 52-wk lows. The stock managed to make a nominal 18% intraday jump off of that bottom, so we’ll watch for the possibility of a protracted recovery. We’ll look for WIZD to continue to register higher lows.

Mobile Broadcasting Holding, Inc. MBHC

MBHC responded well to Friday’s news regarding the findings of beta testing on its upcoming app (View PR), as it continued to build a higher base of support off of the .0042 swing-low that it recorded last Tuesday.

We watched the stock trade in a range from .0052 to .006 (+15%), and that high marked an overall four-session move of 43%  It drew back slightly to close at .0057, the point from which we’ll look to see it continue to log higher lows as we commence a new trading week.

We’ve prepared a video highlighting the key points of the MBHC chart:

Fresh News Plays

Lexicon Pharmaceuticals, Inc. LXRX is gapping up heavily this morning after the company published an early-morning PR announcing that its Phase III cancer treatment has met primary endpoints. We can look for short-term opportunities in the stock itself, and in the options chain, where we’ll monitor $10 Calls. Be on the lookout for a possible dip-and-rip scenario!

Lexicon Pharmaceuticals Reports Positive Top-Line Results For Pivotal Phase 3 Telotristat Etiprate Study In Cancer Patients With Carcinoid Syndrome (Mon 1:01AM EDT)

Mixx 1 Life, Inc. MIXX is also piquing our interest with a premarket PR and its positioning on the chart as a good bottom-watch candidate The stock has fallen dramatically to new 52-week lows, and is looking extremely oversold. The CEO has released a letter to shareholders today addressing the extreme conditions, and we’re going to slate this one for observation as the potential recovery could produce some serious chances for profit.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: GEVO Recap, Potential Bottom-Plays & More

Gevo, Inc. GEVO
___
We tracked GEVO to some nice gains late this spring, and re-admitted the stock into the conversation in yesterday’s report. We were met with a respectable intraday increase as it traded up from a low of 2.37 to a daily high of 3.00. It registered as an opportunity of single session gains of up to 27% on volume of more than twice the 3-month average.

The stock is pulling back slightly in the premarket today, but we could see some further chances from this play into next week, provided it can continue to build a higher base of support in coming sessions. We’ll want to see the stock maintain above yesterday’s swing low of 2.37 to remain interested at the moment.

___
Potential Bottom-Plays

PostRock Energy Corp. PSTR

We spotted some potential in PSTR after catching it on a routine scan recently, and thought it’d be a good time to mention it as it is coming up off of recent relative lows.

The stock ran into some resistance just a tick below its 50DMA of 2.76 yesterday, and that’s going to be the figure we watch for a break. A move past that point, and there doesn’t seem to be much standing in the way of this low-float play running up to the level of its current 200DMA, presently sitting at 4.01.
___

Wizard World, Inc. WIZD

WIZD is a stock that has recently been beaten back to new 52-week lows, and as our regular readers are well aware, we’ve had an exceptional amount of success in the past with stocks in just this position. As you can see on the prepared chart below, WIZD is drastically oversold at the present time, and trading at just a fraction of its moving averages.

We’ll keep this stock on the radar heading into next week, and have our eyes open for a move up off of these newly attained lows. On a side note, the company just announced that the comic convention it is hosting the third week in September has secured an appearance by legendary boxer, Mike Tyson. >>VIEW PR

Fresh Options Ideas

LinkedIn Corp. LNKD – Despite a hefty beat on earnings and raised guidance by the company, LNKD shared slipped more than 5% during yesterday’s session. The reactionary slide was primarily due to the perception of weakness in some of the areas of LinkedIn’s core business. Despite that fact, we want to offer up a longer-term options idea relating to the stock’s potential recovery over the next several weeks. We’re going to give specific attention to LNKD Sept. 11th $210-220 Calls.

___

GoPro, Inc. GPRO & Expedia, Inc. EXPE – Both of these stocks are gapping up in the premarket this morning, so as a closing idea for the week we’ll be monitoring Weekly Calls in each of them for a possible dip-and-rip. Those ranges of highest interest to us are GPRO $63-64.50 Calls, and EXPE $115-117 Calls.

Options Trading Side Note:

Don’t forget about the success we’ve had this week with the Weekly Ford (F) $14.50-15 Calls, and Weekly MU $19.50-20.00 Calls. We’ll have our eyes peeled for the possibility of seeing some added spikes as the trading week comes to a close.
