Blue Horseshoe Stocks: AAPL, SPY Winners & More

Apple, Inc. AAPL – Recap

We submitted two separate options trading ideas in yesterday morning’s premarket report, the first of which being the AAPL Weekly $160-162.50 Calls. It’s beeen quite some time since we played with the AAPL chain, but it is the stock that originally brought us into the fold of options day and swing trading that we’ve adopted as one of our main functions.

It came as no surprise when the Fed announced no interest rate hike yesterday that the markets responded bullishly and allowed for some very nice multi-bag moves on our designated targets.

$160 Calls – Range: 2.14-6.32 – Max Gain: 195%
$162.50 Calls – Range: 1.05-4.19 – Max Gain: 299%

SPDR S&P 500 ETF (SPY) – Recap

Our second set of options ideas from yesterday were the SPY Weekly $264-265.50 Calls, and of course, those also fared well with the SPY being an excellent market analog, and another well that we revisit on a regular basis for short term options plays.

The gains on our highlighted contracts were even more impressive in this case, with each and every strike point returning potential gains ranging from 343-598% in a single session.

$264 Calls – Range: 1.07-4.74 – Max Gain: 343%
$264.50 Calls – Range: .82-4.03 – Max Gain: 385%
$265 Calls – Range: .59-3.50 – Max Gain: 493%
$265.50 Calls – Range: .43-3.00 – Max Gain: 598%

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: BABA Options & More

Alibaba Group Holding Ltd BABA – Options

To kick off this brand new trading week, we are interested in tracking a range of calls in the BABA chain, after shares dipped on the news that co-Founder Jack Ma will be stepping down and handing full control over to the CEO effect next year.

The reactionary selloff may provide us with some solid options trading chances, so we are going to keep an eye on the BABA 10/12 $165 & 167.50 Calls in the days and weeks ahead.

OPKO Health Inc. OPK

Shares of OPK took a bath on Friday, briefly falling below the stock’s 200DMA, and closing well in the red on the day. We’re going to signal our interest in tracking OPK as a bottom-watch play.

The stock is approaching extremely oversold territory, and in the midst of its downturn we observed some Form-4 submissions, with insiders buying up shares on Friday as the bottom fell out.

That suggests a confidence that it may not have much further to fall, so we will want to hang around as OPK searches for a bottom and solid rebound point.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: WMT Options & More

Walmart, Inc. WMT – Options Idea

Walmart was already building a nice head of steam on the chart in the weeks leading up to this morning’s earnings release. Things have kicked up a notch this morning as Walmart recorded a resounding across-the-board beat, including an online sales increase of 33%

Given that we are always looking out for opportunities to trade options on the heels of a solid earnings beat, we are going to slate some Walmart calls for observation this morning.

We’ll be tracking the WMT Weekly $86.50-88.50 Calls after what we expect should be a dip-and-rip scenario.

Altimmune, Inc. ALT

We would also like to make mention of ALT this morning, after taking notice of the significant pickup in both price action and volatility yesterday.

That was preceded by a lengthy consolidation period as you can see on the snapshot below, and at the present time, the stock is beginning to come off of being oversold. We’ll watch this one for a potential recovery play in upcoming sessions.
