Blue Horseshoe Stocks: AMDA Recap & More

Amedica Corp. AMDA

We want to begin this morning by highlighting the performance of AMDA last week. We put this one on our radar on Tuesday, and would witness a heck of a run which culminated in an extremely strong session on Friday.

On Tuesday following our alert, we observed a low of .3851, and after registering higher highs and higher lows throughout the middle of the week, AMDA hit a new high of .6199,  which accounts for an intraweek swing of 61%

For a stock trading in that price range, we’d call that a top-notch four-session performance!

Fresh Ideas

We’ll also add a couple of newcomers to our radar this morning. We’ve got an energy play and a mining play that are both are coming off of rough outings on Friday:

Uranium Energy Corp. UEC fell below $2 for the first time since April during Friday’s session, so we’ll want to be open to possibility of a possible bottom-bounce here. Today the company revealed that it will be added to the Russell 3000® Index and the Russell Global® Index, effective this Friday. >> Read PR

Great Panther Silver Ltd. GPL also took quite a beating to wrap up the week, falling to the low .30’s. In premarket trading today the stock is back above .40, so we’ll be on the lookout for a continued rebound here as well.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: AVEO Recap, Options Ideas & More

AVEO Pharmaceuticals, Inc. AVEO

We’ve tracked AVEO in our reports from Wednesday and yesterday to what has turned out to be a strong intraweek swing. From Wednesday’s low of 1.50, the stock surged to a new 52-week high of 3.50 early in yesterday’s session, during which it traded more than thirty times its 3-month average.

It marked a two-day move of 133% which began when the company released favorable drug trial results on Wednesday. Strangely, the PR (View It Here) seemed to go largely unnoticed by the investment community until yesterday. Despite that fact, we showed up early to the party, and had a heck of time watching others catch on, producing yesterday’s annual high-setting push.

After consolidating into the close, AVEO appears to be gapping up slightly this morning, so we’ll stay tuned to the price action as the session unfolds.

Holiday Island Holdings, Inc. HIHI

We played HIHI like a fiddle this week; it’s yet another example of us providing our readers with advanced notice on prime-time chances to profit.

We alerted folks to the situation in our premarket report on Wednesday, at which time the stock was trading at a low of .0015. Word of a massive share reduction via purchase and return to treasury hit the newswires early, providing us with all the incentive we needed to include it in our daily interests. HIHI proceeded to run more than 70% over the course of that afternoon.

Then yesterday, we caught wind of a promotion on the stock with which we had no involvement, and it prompted us to remain focused on HIHI. We mentioned that the promo might produce “an impeccably-timed boost to extend our profits as we look to take them off the table” and it worked like a charm. The stock ended up touching a new high of .003, marking a two-session swing of exactly 100%.

Morning Gapper Watchlist
While a Friday preceding a holiday weekend is usually a relatively subdued affair, there are a couple of items hitting our scanner that we’ll be monitoring for opportunities.  Each of the following is gapping up in the premarket:

Emerald Oil, Inc. EOX
We drew up a chart to illustrate the situation on EOX. The stock was kicked hard during yesterday’s session so we’ll be on alert for some rebound action today.

Oncothyreon, Inc. ONTY
ONTY is the other gapper that will retain a portion of our of our focus this morning.

Quick Options Trading Ideas:

Apple, Inc. AAPL has been on a wicked run all week, so we’ll watch for a dip-and-rip scenario; the $131 and $132 Weekly Calls should be in play today.

For Petroleo Brasiliero SA (Petrobras) PBR, we’re going to zero in on $9.00 & $9.50 Weekly Calls.

Fresh Options Ideas

As we head into the end of another excitement-filled week, we’ve zeroed in on some options ideas for daytrading that could yield positive results. Friday is always an interesting time to trade weekly options; premiums are lowered significantly due to time decay, creating just the kind of high-risk, high-reward environment for which we are always on the lookout.

We have extensively used the options chains of all of the following high-profile stocks to bank enormous gains in the past (PBR Archive, AAPL Archive, NFLX Archive):

Netflix, Inc. NFLX – When we last touched upon NFLX the stock was trading in the high-$300 to $400 range, and since then it has made a monstrous move to its current base in the high-$500’s.

The stock appears to want to gap up this morning into the $600+ range; we’re going to be on the lookout for a dip-and-rip scenario, and as usual, we’ll provide a range where we think the heaviest action will fall- in this case we’re going to monitor NFLX Weekly $595-612.50 Calls.

Strategies may require adjustment on-the-fly as trading kicks off; we’ll start off with in-the-money calls, keeping in mind that we’ll need to roll up our strike prices, should the stock continue to run.

____

Apple, Inc. AAPL – It’s been some time since we ventured into Apple territory. To close out the week, we’re going to be monitoring the Weekly $128 and $129 Calls for potential quick-strike opportunities.

____

Petroleo Brasiliero S.A. (Petrobras) PBR – This old-time favorite has been on a steady incline since March, and recently has been flirting with the $10-level. That has made the PBR Weekly $10 Calls good for intraday flips all week long, and we wouldn’t be surprised if the same were true today. We’ll need to see the stock hold support at or above 9.85 on any pullbacks in order to remain interested.

MagneGas Corp. MNGA

We want to keep a sharp watch over MNGA which is gapping up on the heels of this morning’s big announcement of a contract with a branch of the US Military.

The company also launched a new website earlier this week that you can check out here: www.magnegas.com

Banro Corp. BAA

We also want to quickly pat ourselves on the back for the timely tag of BAA that we placed in yesterday’s extended watchlist. It was the first time the stock has appeared in our reports in almost a year, and it produced the chance for a nice intraday gain.

From an early low of .2991, BAA traded up to a high of .353, a respectable 18% jump. We’ll keep our eyes on this one into next week.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Winning TSLA Calls, VGGL Recap & More

Tesla Motors, Inc. TSLA – Options

On Friday we mentioned some longer-term options-trading ideas for TSLA Calls, and it didn’t take more than a couple trading days for them to bear fruit.

As our regular readers are aware by now, we often like to monitor an entire range of strike prices following a key development, and TSLA’s earnings release last midweek provided the fuel for our success in this case. We pointed to 05/22 $230-240 Calls, and every set of contracts in that range made a sizable run from their lows on Friday to impressive highs during yesterday’s session. Here’s a breakdown of their performances:

$230 Calls  – Friday’s Low: 6.85 – Yesterday’s High: 13.50 (Closed: 10.30) – Max Gain: 97%

$232.50 Calls  – Friday’s Low: 5.32 – Yesterday’s High: 11.25 (Closed: 8.65) – Max Gain: 111%

$235 Calls  – Friday’s Low: 5.96 – Yesterday’s High: 10.60 (Closed: 8.70) – Max Gain: 78%

$237.50 Calls  – Friday’s Low: 3.16 – Yesterday’s High: 7.60 (Closed: 5.00) – Max Gain: 140%

$240 Calls  – Friday’s Low: 3.84 – Yesterday’s High: 7.50 (Closed: 5.75) – Max Gain: 95%

We are pleased with the progress we’ve seen thus far in these contracts, and we’re interested to see what the next nine trading days will bring leading up to their expiration.

Viggle, Inc. VGGL

Our next order of business this morning is to point out the solid move made by VGGL after we included the stock in yesterday morning’s extended watchlist. Catalyzed by favorable quarterly results (link below), it traded in a range from 3.00 to 4.24; a very respectable intraday move of 41%.

The spike came on roughly 25X the 3-month average volume and VGGL managed to close in the mid-3.70’s, holding the majority of its daily gains. Whenever we see a confluence of these two phenomena, we always want to keep our eyes peeled for a carryover of momentum into subsequent sessions.

52% Year-over-Year Revenue Growth and 116% Increase in Net Registered Users as Viggle Celebrates Its Three-Year Anniversary (Mon, May 11)

Plug Power, Inc. PLUG

Our longer-term subscribers might remember the epic run we tracked in PLUG when we caught the stock coming off its all-time lows near a dime back in 2013. The lowest price we observed following our initiation of coverage on this play was .135 on 02/28/13. It led us on a long and exciting journey to a high of 11.72 nearly a year later, and from then on has held a spot on our list of all-time best calls.

More recently, in 2015, PLUG has been on an overall downtrend that carried the stock to new annual low of 2.32. Yesterday, we observed PLUG coming up off of those lows and hitting a high of 2.65, so we’re going to re-radar this as a potential recovery play. If it can crack through the 50DMA of 2.66, we could be in line to see a more sustained uptrend.

We’ve illustrated the key resistance points on the following chart snapshot:

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: GEVO News, PTBI Review & More

PlasmaTech Biopharmaceuticals, Inc. PTBI

In Tuesday morning’s premarket report, we expressed our interest in PTBI based on some press, and the look of the chart. We expected to see a chance for a nice gain, but what followed has been much more impressive.

PTBI has become a multi-day runner; Tuesday’s session brought a move from 4.33-7.77, an intraday gain of 79%

Yesterday, the company came out with news of a new acquisition in the morning, and that certainly added fuel to the fire. After a gap-up we witnessed an early run from 8.71-11.15 (+28%). That high represented a two-day increase of 157% over our observed low of 4.33, and was followed by some consolidation in the afternoon leading to a close at 8.60.

The company published another press release post-market divulging details of a forthcoming private placement (Link Below), that is untraded-upon. Thus, PTBI is gapping up once again today, so we will be wary of the possibility for more price action similar to what we’ve seen so far.

Extreme Networks, Inc. EXTR

We’re going to put EXTR on our radars this week as a stock that was sent through the ringer after an analyst downgrade early last month, causing a big gap-down on the chart.

You can see it plainly on the snapshot we’ve included below. In addition, we can identify a couple of bullish indicators staring us in the face; the RSI is coming off of being oversold, while the MACD is upturned and showing divergence. The stock has been making higher highs and higher lows for two sessions running, and we’ll look for that to continue.

Gevo, Inc. GEVO

We also want to pay attention to GEVO after an interesting PR this morning that highlights an agreement with Alaska Airlines has sent the stock cruising to three-month highs in the premarket.

The chance for a dip-and-rip style play could present itself on the rebound after the profit-takers come out of the woodwork early in today’s session. For us to remain interested in GEVO, the stock will need to maintain support at or above its 50DMA of 3.23 on any pullback.
