Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Trio of Post-Earnings Options Ideas

Trio of Post-Earnings Options Ideas

As our regular readers are more than aware, we are always looking in the earnings calendar to find potential quick-strike options trading opportunities. After a strong earnings report, chances to take advantage of the clamor for shares are often plentiful.

This morning we’ve got three separate ideas, to help us try to do just that. After solid reports all around we’re looking to formulate ideas for The TJX Companies, Inc. TJX, Advanced Auto Parts, Inc. AAP, and Kohls Corp. KSS options chains.

TJX 06/15 $85-90 Calls
AAP 06/15 $120-130 Calls

KSS Weekly $67.50-69.50 Calls

Agile Therapeutics, Inc. AGRX

Another thing we’re always looking for is bottom-play opportunities. We want to place AGRX on watch after seeing the stock get absolutely crushed over the past few sessions.

The short interest has risen dramatically as you can see on the AGRX page of Naked Short Report, and caused a serious gap down to perhaps unsustainably low levels. When an influx of buyers looking for a bargain comes in, we could see that gap begin to fill. We’ll have it on a close bottom watch.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: MARA, AVEO Recaps & More

Marathon Patent Group, Inc. MARA

Our initial alert on MARA came on Thursday morning along with a low of .22, as we were just mentioning in yesterday’s premarket report. We had already seen a 100% move on Friday leading into yesterday’s session. We mentioned that MARA could see the .50 range or better yesterday before the session kicked off, and it’s as if we had a crystal ball.

MARA ran from .3718 – .5515 on the day, a 48% push, extending our total observed range on the stock from last Thursday until now, to an impressive 151%

AVEO Pharmaceuticals, Inc. AVEO

After signaling AVEO on Friday morning and watching it set a new 52-week high on the day on enormous volume, we doubled down in yesterday’s report, stating that we wanted to continue to track its progress for continued upward activity, and it was good thing we did.

AVEO wasnt finished, and yesterday’s session was the strongest performance we’ve seen yet. The stock ran fom 1.33 to 2.11 for a 58% intraday rip, and a total two-session swing over our observed low on Friday (1.05) of 100%

Rennova Health, Inc. (Warrants) RNVAZ

We tagged RNVAZ in yesterday’s premarket watchlist, and it turned out to be a great play for the day. It traded up from a low of .05 to as much as .1446 inside of the first 40 minutes of the session.

That worked out to an intraday pop of 189% and it happened on a daily volume of more than 21X the monthly average.

Darden Restaurants, Inc. DRI – Options Idea

DRI (owner of Olive Garden) posted boosted sales and outlook in an impressive earnings beat, and we want to signal a range of options to coincide with what could be a surge of bullish activity. We’ll be focusing our attention on the DRI 07/21 $90-97.50 Calls for potential swing trades.

Vivint Solar, Inc. VSLR

We tagged VSLR back on May 18th at a low of 2.75. On Friday, we were just mentioning how the stock had continued to bull its way up the chart, and we’ve yet to see a down day in nearly twenty trading sessions.

Yesterday VSLR hit a new high of 5.85 marking a total swing of 113% over our witnessed low, and closed at that mark as well. At some point very soon the growth will become unsustainable, granted how overbought the stock is at the moment, but for what it’s worth, to this point, VSLR has been one of the most steady risers we’ve seen in recent weeks.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: MNKD, VRX Recaps & More

MannKind Corp. MNKD

We tagged MNKD a week ago today in our premarket report on May 4th, and wanted to circle back around this morning to go over the excellent performance the stock has recorded since then. At the time the stock had been looking like it wanted to rebound after crashing down to a bottom and our decision to mention it turned out to be timed perfectly.

In each of the past five sessions MNKD has registered higher highs and higher lows, continuing to gain back ground that it had lost in previous weeks. From last Thursday’s low of .688, the stock has gone on to reach a high of 1.88, which represents an increase of 173% while volume over the same period has been impressive. The stock traded its highest volume since 2014 yesterday, so we’re really eager to continue tracking the activity in MNKD.

Valeant Pharmaceuticals, Inc. VRX

Despite already showing us amazing single-session gains ranging from 380-3600% on Tuesday, which we recapped in yesterday’s premarket report, our options idea for the VRX chain, the Weekly $10.50-12 Calls saw even further advances once the session kicked off.

We’ve included the total possible intraday gains from yesterday’s session, as well as the overall gains from our observed lows on Tuesday morning.

$10.50 Calls
– Daily Range: 1.43-2.36 – Daily Gain: 65% – Total Range: .40-2.36 – Two-Day Swing: 490%
$11 Calls – Daily Range: .92-1.99 – Daily Gain: 116% – Total Range: .18-1.99 – Two-Day Swing: 1005%
$11.50 Calls – Daily Range: .53-1.42 – Daily Gain: 68% – Total Range: .08-1.42 – Two-Day Swing: 1675%
$12 Calls – Daily Range: .29-.99 – Daily Gain: 241% – Total Range: .02-.99 – Two-Day Swing: 4850%

Even though it’s not even close to our only percentage gainer in the thousands, this round of options calls with VRX is certainly going down as one of our most solid picks of the year so far. Even if someone had only bought shares in VRX stock itself, they could have been up just over 22% on this two-day swing.

Groupon, Inc. GRPN

We want to place GRPN on recovery watch after noticing the stock coming up off a double-bottom, with a gap on the chart to fill to the upside, as you can see on the included snapshot.

We like to monitor plays in this position, so we’ll put it on our radars in the days and weeks ahead. Given the look of this chart, we’d classify this as relatively low-risk, low-reward in comparison one of our average plays.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Fresh News Plays & More

NuGene International, Inc. NUGN

We’ve been tracking NUGN for a few weeks now, with our most recent focus coming on the 15th of this month. The stock has been making a good bit of progress on the chart since rebounding off of support at 2.64 a few days later on the 18th, and we want to draw extra attention to it this morning as a new PR has hit the wires.

From that recent swing low, NUGN has regained ground back to Friday’s high of 3.48, which marks a 32% rebound in a span of seven trading days. We’ll want to keep an eye out for a continued uptrend from this point forward.

This morning’s interesting news involves NuGene’s Kathy Ireland® product line, which has been selected by a high-volume cosmeceutical  e-commerce store, LovelySkin.com, as a premier line of business for its online outlet which serves hundreds of thousands of customers. >> READ PR

Kraig BioCraft Laboratories, Inc. KBLB

We want to tag KBLB as we kick off this short trading week for a couple of reasons. The first of which is the positioning of the current KBLB chart, which as you can see from the following snapshot, is searching out a bottom as it has come down off off the second major swing in as many months. Twice this spring, the stock surged from the .035-area to a nickel or more.

We’ll be looking to get in on some of the rebound action should history attempt to repeat itself, and this morning’s PR could be a good start along that path.

KBLB has developed what it is calling its strongest recombinant spider silk substance to date. In fact, the wonder-material they are dubbing Dragon SilkTM is actually stronger than natural spider silk! We’ll be interested to follow this storyline along with the good chance of seeing some significant short-term gain opportunities. >>READ PR

American Green, Inc. ERBB

We tracked ERBB quite a bit back when it traded as Tranzbyte Corp., and now that it goes by the American Green moniker, we’re seeing the materialization of what could be an upcoming move on the chart. It would come in the form of a bottom-bounce play; as you can plainly see, the stock has been on a rather steady decline for the past few months.

In addition to being heavily oversold, the company has some fresh press out today:

TEMPE, AZ–(Marketwired – Jun 29, 2015) – American Green, Inc. (OTC PINK: ERBB) is very pleased to announce today that it has executed an acquisition agreement with TrackX, LLC (www.TrackX.com). TrackX, a Denver-based company, is one of the country’s leading providers of complete Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tracking and cloud-based physical asset management systems. >> FULL PR

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: ESPR Options, MVIS Recaps & More

Esperion Therapeutics, Inc. ESPR

ESPR found new highs once again yesterday for the second straight session after we initially tagged it for options trading potential on Tuesday.

In addition to monitoring Weekly In-the-money Calls, which yielded up the opportunity at gains ranging from 400-1400% on Tuesday, and continued their own runs yesterday, we also had specified a longer-term idea that continued to work extraordinarily well.

That idea, the 04/17 $90 Calls, traded from a low of 11.60 all the way up to 21.90 yesterday. It represented an excellent single-session intraday increase of 89%, and a whopping 525% jump over our observed low from Tuesday (3.50).

Big congratulations go out to any of our readers who reaped the benefits ESPR, which has easily emerged as our top target of the week! The stock is gapping up in the premarket this morning, so it appears as if we could see a further extension of those gains.

Microvision, Inc. MVIS

On Monday we tagged MVIS in a gap-up watchlist, and it has found its way into every one of our reports this week, setting new highs each day.

Yesterday the stock traded in a range from 3.42-4.23, a healthy intraday move of 24% From our observed low of 2.88 on Monday, that high marked a rise of 47% overall.

As you can see below, given the extremely over-bought look of the chart, now might be a good time to lock in any profits gained over the course of the week. This major move has been fueled by a PR out Monday in which the company announced orders totaling more than $14M it had received for components of its patented PicoP® display technology >> VIEW PR

Side Note:

Yesterday in advance of the FOMC Meeting, we cautioned readers to stay alert and watch for the effect that Janet Yellen’s commentary would have on the markets. To take advantage of this expected surge in either direction, we mentioned trading options calls on either the SPY, if the markets went up, or UVXY and/or VIX if they slid back.  Either way it played out, we said, we wanted “to stay in-the-money with our strike prices.”

As it turned out, the Fed announcement caused a sharp rise in the markets, and as a result the SPY Calls were the ones to play. We saw substantial gains on in-the-money Calls as the SPY spiked to $211.27.

For example, the SPY $209.50 Calls traded in a range from .80-2.00, for an intraday move totaling 150%  $210 Calls also spiked heavily from a low of .40 to as much as 1.59, a huge 297% jump.
