Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Updates, New Ideas

ITUS Corp. ITUS

As we were just mentioning yesterday, we first highlighted ITUS in Thursday’s premarket report, and later that day we observed a low of 1.92. Friday and Monday both brought the recording of higher highs and higher lows, and yesterday followed suit.

We watched as ITUS pushed upward once again, trading in a daily range from 4.00 to a new high of 5.15. It worked out to an intraday move of 29%, and an overall increase of 168% over the low we witnessed on the morning of our initial alert. For a stock that was already approaching $2/share when we came upon it, that’s a fantastic four-day swing.

IZEA, Inc. IZEA

Speaking of higher priced stocks we’ve called that have made some impressive moves, we’re talking about IZEA again as well. We called it on Monday morning, and saw a move from 4.54 to a high of 6.35 (+40%) that day, and specifically reiterated our signal yesterday morning.

It’s a good thing we did, because the stock wasn’t finished running. It made a modest 25% move up from a low of 5.73 to a new high of 7.17. That works out to an admirable two-day swing of 58%

Apple, Inc. AAPL – Options Recap

Yesterday morning we noted the fact that AAPL was showing signs of a reversal and rebound after a selloff period. We mentioned that we’d radar the AAPL Weekly $150-155 Calls for quick-strike trade opportunities and our idea worked very nicely.

Regardless of which strike price was chosen in our selected range, the chances for considerable intraday profits were on the table. The potential gains on the day were as follows:

$150 Calls – Range: 2.30-4.10 – Max Gain: 78%
$152.50 Calls – Range: 1.00-2.07 – Max Gain: 107%.
$155 Calls – Range: .28-.69 – Max Gain: 146%

Marathon Patent Group, Inc. MARA

We also want to talk about MARA this morning, as we’re noticing an interesting chart setup currently in effect. The laast time we mentioned the stock was in July, and while we were a little early to party as it was still searching for a bottom, it didn’t take more than a few weeks for the stock to ultimately establish support and launch a rebound off a low of .22.

Since that time, the stock has made a nice move to the tune of 127% as it reached a high of .50 this week. We’re going to look out closely for a potential breach of a previous resistance point at .56, after which the stock could see another leg-up. As you can see on the snapshot below, the MACD is executing a bullish cross while the RSI shows MARA about to break into the Power Zone.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: VSTM, KTOV Recaps & More

Verastem, Inc. VSTM

With impressive new highs being printed yesterday we thought it was a good time to swing back around and recap the recent progress of a stock we’ve been tracking since early this spring. A quick look at the VSTM tag in our archives reveals that we began tracking this play with a mention in our premarket report on March 24th at which time the stock saw a low of 1.59 and never went any lower. That was followed by another reminder just a few weeks ago when the stock was trading in the 2.10’s.

Despite the usual fluctuations, the stock has been in an ascending wedge pattern on the chart from our initial highlight, generally trading in an upward direction and yesterday, hit new highs of 3.75. From our observed low of 1.59 that works out to a total increase of 142%  For those who may have only caught the most recent mention, gains of up to 95% were still attainable as of yesterday’s new high.

Kitov Pharmaceutical Holdings, Inc. KTOV

We included KTOV in yesterday morning’s premarket report after picking it up on our routine morning scan. The stock responded with a very nice daily performance.

From a low of 1.80 it ripped 100% to 2.70 for a perfect double-bagger, and it did so on extreme high volume on the order of 155X the monthly average. With that kind of price action and liquidity, we’ll be certain to keep close tabs on KTOV as we close out this holiday-shortened week.

ProShares Short VIX Short-Term Futures ETF (SVXY) – Options Idea

After some positive jobs numbers went out this morning, we want to signal a range of options in the SVXY, which is one of the funds we use as a market analog. A bullish session for the markets as a whole could spell some nice gain opportunities in the SVXY Weekly $152-154 Calls*.

*We don’t include mentions of weekly options contracts on a Friday without explicitly warning our readers every time. Trading weekly options at the end of the week is a highly risky proposition that should never be attempted by beginning or novice traders!

Extended Watchlist:
DGLY, GLBS, MARA, AVEO, HTGM, AFSI, CNAT

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: MARA, AVEO Recaps & More

Marathon Patent Group, Inc. MARA

Our initial alert on MARA came on Thursday morning along with a low of .22, as we were just mentioning in yesterday’s premarket report. We had already seen a 100% move on Friday leading into yesterday’s session. We mentioned that MARA could see the .50 range or better yesterday before the session kicked off, and it’s as if we had a crystal ball.

MARA ran from .3718 – .5515 on the day, a 48% push, extending our total observed range on the stock from last Thursday until now, to an impressive 151%

AVEO Pharmaceuticals, Inc. AVEO

After signaling AVEO on Friday morning and watching it set a new 52-week high on the day on enormous volume, we doubled down in yesterday’s report, stating that we wanted to continue to track its progress for continued upward activity, and it was good thing we did.

AVEO wasnt finished, and yesterday’s session was the strongest performance we’ve seen yet. The stock ran fom 1.33 to 2.11 for a 58% intraday rip, and a total two-session swing over our observed low on Friday (1.05) of 100%

Rennova Health, Inc. (Warrants) RNVAZ

We tagged RNVAZ in yesterday’s premarket watchlist, and it turned out to be a great play for the day. It traded up from a low of .05 to as much as .1446 inside of the first 40 minutes of the session.

That worked out to an intraday pop of 189% and it happened on a daily volume of more than 21X the monthly average.

Darden Restaurants, Inc. DRI – Options Idea

DRI (owner of Olive Garden) posted boosted sales and outlook in an impressive earnings beat, and we want to signal a range of options to coincide with what could be a surge of bullish activity. We’ll be focusing our attention on the DRI 07/21 $90-97.50 Calls for potential swing trades.

Vivint Solar, Inc. VSLR

We tagged VSLR back on May 18th at a low of 2.75. On Friday, we were just mentioning how the stock had continued to bull its way up the chart, and we’ve yet to see a down day in nearly twenty trading sessions.

Yesterday VSLR hit a new high of 5.85 marking a total swing of 113% over our witnessed low, and closed at that mark as well. At some point very soon the growth will become unsustainable, granted how overbought the stock is at the moment, but for what it’s worth, to this point, VSLR has been one of the most steady risers we’ve seen in recent weeks.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Multiple Winners & More

Marathon Patent Group, Inc. MARA

We initially brought MARA into the fold on Thursday morning, when we highlighted it in our premarket report as a bottom-bouncer. The stock had just made a considerable move of off its recent relative lows the session prior, and looked set to continue into a multi-day run.

That certainly came to pass, with a solid performance on Thursday leading into yet another for Friday. On Thursday we observed a low of .22 and a moderate run into the .30’s but Friday, things ramped up to another level with MARA running from .24-.48 for an even 100% move on the day and a total rise of 118% over a two-day span.

That’s certainly a heck of a bottom-bouncer call. If things were to progress in a similar fashion to kick off the new trading week, today MARA could be looking at the fifty-cent range or better.

Defense Technologies International, Corp. DTII

We tagged DTII in Friday morning’s extended watchlist, and were very pleased with the solid intraday performance yielded by the play. The stock ran from a low of .0042 to as high as .0075 on the day, marking a move of 79%

The PPS pop was accompanied by a considerable influx of volume, on the order of more than six times the monthly average of shares changing hands. The past two sessions, in terms of price action and liquidity, have blown all others of the past few months out of the water, so we’re interested in seeing whether the stock can sustain this level of activity moving forward.

AVEO Pharmaceuticals, Inc. AVEO

We also tagged AVEO on Friday morning for the first time in a couple years, and the stock promptly turned around and set a new 52-week high on the day.  While the move itself was relatively modest, running 31% from 1.05 to 1.38, it did occur on mammoth volume, just a hair shy of 22X times the monthly average volume.

It did lose having held more than half of its daily advance, and is gapping up slightly in the premarket today, so we’ll definitely keep a slot reserved for AVEO on our watchscreens as we kick things off today.

Bed Bath and Beyond, Inc. BBBY – Options Recap

We went bearish on Bed Bath & Beyond on Friday with a set of options contracts to follow in the wake of their disappointing quarterly results, and it turned out to be a fantastic idea.

Our targets were the BBBY Weekly $31.50-30.50 Puts and regardless of which strike point was chosen, sizable gains were there for the taking:

$31.50 Puts – Range: 1.07-2.07 – Max Gain: 93%
$31 Puts – Range: .64-1.58 – Max Gain: 147%
$30.50 Puts – Range: .31-1.05 – Max Gain: 239%

Adobe Systems Inc. ADBE – Options Recap

We signaled some options for the ADBE chain on Wednesday, and the stock finished the week strong, and we witnessed some nice gains there as well. We were looking at the ADBE 06/30 $147 & $148 Calls, and both ideas have worked out nicely thus far.

The $147’s traded up from .35-.62 (+77%) while the $148’s ran from .17-.35 (+106%). Granted the nature of Friday’s session for ADBE, and these contracts not expiring until the end of this week, we wouldn’t be at all surprised to see these gains extended before it’s all said and done.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: ANY Review & More

Sphere 3D Corp. ANY

We’ve often said in the past that it’s better to be early to the party than late, and ANY is a perfect example of why. We tagged this play on Wednesday after noticing some unusual activity the previous day, and things didn’t really kick off right away. We observed a low of .15 during that session.

Yesterday is when things really moved into high gear, with the stock having an excellent day, trading in a range from .1941 on up to .29 for a 49% rip, and we’ll definitely want to keep tracking the activity into today, as the premarket high has equaled yesterday’s daily high.

From the low of .15 that we saw on Wednesday, ANY’s total upswing thus far has amounted to 93% Quite a respectable two-day jump.

_____

Vivint Solar VSLR Recap – Speaking of solid movers, we also wanted to quickly update the total observed range we’ve seen on VSLR, which reached a new high of 5.50 yesterday. From our witnessed low of 2.75 following our report on the morning of May 18th, that comes out to a nice, round 100%

AVEO Pharmaceuticals, Inc. AVEO

We want to radar AVEO in the wake of the announcement that its advanced renal cell carcinoma treatment has been recommended for EU approval by a scientific committee of the European Medicines Agency. The stock has gapped up into Blue Skies this morning as a result, with a new 52-week high of 1.28.

Concerning the chart itself, the 50DMA is rising toward the 200DMA and it appears as if a Golden Cross is imminent.  We’ll want to see AVEO hold at or above recent resistance at .89 on any dips in order to hold our interest.

Bed Bath and Beyond, Inc. BBBY – Options Idea

We’re bearish on BBBY following the company’s post-market earning miss yesterday, which has caused a breach of trend-line support to the low side. We’ll be observing the BBBY Weekly $31.50-30.50 Puts* for possible day trade opportunities.

*We don’t include mentions of weekly options contracts on a Friday without explicitly warning our readers every time. Trading weekly options at the end of the week is a hugely risky proposition that should never be attempted unless you are an expert trader!
