Massive Options Success & More

Big Moves in All 5 of Wednesday’s Selections:

We had a whole slew of options ideas that we formed for yesterday morning’s premarket report, offering up targets in five separate chains based off of earnings. For our newer readers, we typically like to stick with quick-strike options in company’s which has just reported quarterly figures because of the intraday volatility they most often generate.

Yesterday our designated targets were the FCX Weekly $39-41 Calls, the BA Weekly $202.50-207.50 Calls, the TXN Weekly $180-182.50 Calls, the MSFT Weekly $300-307.50 Calls, and the SPY 01/26 $440-442 Calls. More Options Success & New Ideas

More Options Gainers:

We only formulated two sets of options ideas for yesterday morning’s premarket report, but we scored pretty well with both of them. Kohls was a post-earnings play, and we had been bearish on the SPY from the get-go this week.

Our exact target ranges were the KSS Weekly $60-62 Calls and the SPY 01/24 $435-432 Puts, and traders could have realized some pretty good profits off of either idea. With the markets continuing their recent downslide until midday, the SPY Puts were the most attractive option on the day.

Here are the total possible gains one could have recorded with those items of interest:

KSS Weekly $60-62 Calls
$60:
3.46-4.90 (+42%)
$61: 2.81-4.23 (+51%)
$62: 1.00-3.73 (+273%)
_____

SPY 01/24 $435-432 Puts
$435: 3.96-14.28 (+261%)
$343: 3.23-13.33 (+313%)
$432: 2.50-11.31 (+252%)

Fresh Options Ideas:
LOGI 02/18 $75-80 Calls
BRO 02/18 $65-70 Calls
AXP Weekly $160-165 Calls

Solar is Red Hot

Keeping an Eye on Solar

This week has brought some very interesting plays in the solar energy sector. We’ve already seen big gains from SPI Energy Inc. SPI, JinkoSolar Holdings. Inc. JKS, and SunWorks Inc. SUNW, and would like to keep our eyes peeled for other opportunities in the arena which may be boosted by the volatility in those moves.

Yesterday alone, SPI went parabolic as it popped off from a low of 3.30 and hit 46.67 for an intraday run of over 1300%, SUNW ran from .73-4.57 (+526%), and JKS continued a month long run with a solid jump from 28.30 to 33.74 (+19%).

What this all tells us, is that a lot of eyeballs are sure to be flooding the solar space in coming sessions, and we’d like to formulate an options idea in the Invesco Solar ETF (TAN), which is presently flirting with a double top, the breaking of which would put it into blue sky territory. To make things interesting, we are going to place the TAN 10/16 $54-56 Calls on watch.
