Playing the SPY Like a Fiddle, 3 Potential Plays

Recap of Thursday’s Activity:

We don’t typically give such detailed predictions for daily market machinations as we did in our premarket report yesterday, but things played out essentially just like we expected. We mentioned that after the huge late-day rally on Wednesday, we were “anticipating the SPY to pare some of those gains early, before seeing another bounce”, and that’s just what we saw. With market volatility being what it is, we’ll continue sticking close to the SPY, just going off of our gut and the direction of the wind each morning to formulate our daily targets.

Here’s how that strategy worked out for yesterday’s SPY targets, the SPY 04/10 $532-534 Calls. We have the best intraday moves from our other idea, the KMX 04/17 $77.50-72.50 Puts as well.

SPY 04/10 $532-534 Calls

Monday’s Runners, 5 Fresh Ideas

Solid Start to the Week:

We fared reasonably well with our options picks yesterday. In our premarket report we highlighted four possible targets, and three of those returned solid intraday upswings. It was a pretty good way to kick off the week, and was done in spite of being a little short on top name earnings reporters for the session. We’re back into some really big names today, so we shouldn’t experience any major difficulties today either.

Our winning ideas for Monday were the NVDA Weekly $725 Calls, the MNDY Weekly $215-205 Puts, and the TRMB Weekly $50 Puts. (We mistakenly assumed $5 increments on the MNDY chain, so the only existing set of contracts in our given range were the $210’s). Here were the gain opportunities that those provided for us on the day:

NVDA Weekly $725 Calls
$725
: 13.57-28.32 (+127%)
_____

MNDY Weekly $215-205 Puts
$210: 3.30-6.00 (+82%)
_____

TRMB Weekly $50 Puts
$50: .05-.10 (+100%)

Fresh Options Ideas:
ANET Weekly $260-255 Puts
WM Weekly $192.50-197.50 Calls
DDOG Weekly $131-128 Puts
LSCC weekly $65 Puts
CDNS Weekly $285-280 Puts

Beamr Imaging Ltd. (NASDAQ:BMR) – Recap:

We also observed an amazing showing by BMR, a stock that appeared in yesterday morning’s extended watchlist. From a daily low of 6.04 it went on to trade for as much as 34.94 a share, which worked out to an intraday rip of 478% which is highly remarkable for a stock in that price range on the upper exchanges. It was the top gainer of the day for the whole NASDAQ.

We hope everyone had an enjoyable day off yesterday for the holiday. There won’t be much going on this morning for this Black Friday half day, but we’ve got the figures from yesterday’s options ideas, all four of which produced intraday upswings. We haven’t got a load of earnings reporters to work with this morning, but we’ll manage to scrape together a few ideas to close out this short trading week, which ends with today’s half-day.

Kicking Off Another Trading Week, New Plays

Recapping Friday’s Performance :

We posted good numbers all week last week, and that trend was unchanged for the options trading ideas we offered up in Friday morning’s premarket report. We had ventured possible strike areas in three separate chains, and came back with some favorable results on the day. Even on days where the earnings calendar doesn’t provide us with many opportunities, we always seem to manage.

That trio of plays from Friday consisted of the ULTA Weekly $425-427.50 Calls, the AFRM Weekly $14-15 Calls, and the HIBB 09/15 $40 Calls. Here were the intraday runs we witnessed in each of the contract sets therein:

ULTA Weekly $425-427.50 Calls
$425:
1.37-3.39 (+147%)
$427.50: .90-2.10 (+133%)
_____

AFRM Weekly $14-15 Calls
$14: 1.08-4.25 (+293%)
$14.50: .77-3.62 (+370%)
$15: .47-3.21 (+583%)
_____

HIBB 09/15 $40 Calls
$40: 5.00-6.50 (+30%)

Fresh Options Ideas:

The landscape for interesting high profile earnings reporters is essentially barren today, but we’re going to be tracking the following plays in TSLA and the SPY, a couple of chains that we’ve relied upon for big gains many times before.

TSLA Weekly $240-245 Calls
SPY 08/28 $440-442 Calls*

*Trading contracts on their day of expiration should only be attempted by experienced traders

Tuesday’s Movers, Today’s Fresh Plays

Recapping Yesterday’s Runners:

We ventured potential options trading ideas for five chains in our premarket report yesterday morning, and at this point it should come as little surprise that we managed to root out intraday runners in all but of those plays, and we had to toss the fifth only for a technical error in our newsletter. We have been on a great success streak lately and we genuinely hope our efforts have, at best, made some folks some money, and at the very least, helped some people understand the world of possibilities offered by options daytrading.

Our winning targets for the session were the SPY 08/22 $440-441 Calls, the FN 09/15 $140-145 Calls, the LOW Weekly $220-225 Calls, the BIDU Weekly $128-130 Calls. The nature of their intraday moves and total potential gains for traders were as follows:

SPY 08/22 $440-441 Calls
$440:
.16-.47 (+194%)
$441:
.07-.20 (+186%)
