Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Momentum Plays & More

Top Ships, Inc. TOPS

We are going to place TOPS on bottom-bounce watch this morning. Yesterday the stock held in there just above its 50DMA, and recent support levels. Earlier this summer, the stock shot up exponentially so the ability to make drastic moves to the upside is present.

We’re going to throw TOPS on the radar and will remain interested in tracking its progress provided it holds above its recent swing low of 3.67. As you can see on the included chart snapshot, the MACD appears to be converging toward an impending bullish cross, to that will be a signal to watch for as well.

Northwest Biotherapeutics, Inc. NWBO

Here’s a stock that has had a whirlwind couple of sessions this week, breaking a long pattern of consolidation with two extremely bullish sessions.

We’re going to want to place NWBO on watch as a possible momentum play on the chance that it continues this multi-day run. As long as it can maintain support above yesterdays low which coincides with the 50DMA at .43, we’ll be watching for more solid intraday moves.

Agritek Holdings, Inc. AGTK

We began tracking AGTK at the beginning of August (08/02), and most recently reminded readers about the stock yesterday morning.

What followed was a nice intraday pop, and new overall high as it ran from .0026 to .0035, for a 35% swing. From the .0013 low we observed just after our initial alert on the play last month, yesterday’s high represented a total increase of 169%

It both cracked and held above its 200DMA into the close and the RSI just managed to breach into the power zone. We’ll be anxious to continue tracking its progress moving forward following these bullish signals.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: New Options Ideas

Jammin Java Corp. JAMN

We’d like to radar a familiar old play that we haven’t taken a close look at in nearly a year. JAMN, over the course of the past couple of months, has tumbled its way back to bargain-basement prices.

Now a subpenny play attempting to get a leg up over newly-registered 52-week lows, we’re going to be observing the stock for a potential recovery in sessions to come, as regaining just a fraction of the ground it’s lost recently could spell multi-bag upswings from current PPS levels.

Fresh Options Ideas

We’ve got a couple of new ideas on the options trading front this morning, and based on positioning on their charts, both of the following stocks may also be ripening for possible swing-trade opportunities.

Ford Motor Co. F – In addition to a slight ascending wedge pattern, F has a sizable gap to the upside not far off of the current pricing. Additionally, short interest on the stock has decreased by a large margin, setting us up to track some potential options ideas to correspond with what we think should be some upward momentum in coming sessions.

Along with F stock itself, we’re going to be tracking the F 10/14 $12-13 Calls for possible swing trades.
__________

Freeport-McMoRan, Inc. FCX – We’re interested in this copper play for a couple reasons this morning. A huge asset sale valued at roughly $2B hitting the newswires (>>Read More) is what has drawn our attention to FCX, in conjunction with a bottom bounce signal off of 5-month support levels on the chart.

We’ll be on the lookout for chances in the FCX 10/14 $11-12 Calls. Like the previously mentioned play, time won’t be as much of a factor here, with just over a month until these contracts are set to expire.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: SGBY Recap & More

Signal Bay, Inc. SGBY

SGBY was one of last week’s top plays for us. We alerted the play at the beginning of the short week on Tuesday, and it responded with four straight sessions of higher highs and higher lows.

Friday’s move-up brought the stock from a daily low of .02 to a new high of .03, a 50% intraday gain. We had observed an ultimate low in the stock on Tuesday of .0103, meaning that over the course of the week, the total increase on SGBY was 191% Cheers to go out to anyone who was following along with us on this play.

With the kind of momentum the stock has built up at this point, we’ll be certain to reserve it a space on our watchlist as we kick off a fresh, full-length week.

VelocityShares Daily 2X VIX ST ETN (TVIX)

Our decision to submit TVIX to our morning report for tracking on Friday turned out to be a good one. The ETN is an inverse analog to the overall markets, and with a pretty good backslide for stocks, it consistently pushed the envelope all day.

It started by opening at 19.88 and spent the remainder of the day in perpetual uptick-mode. TVIX bulled its way to a daily high of 24.57 for an intraday move of 24% which is quite a solid jump for this price range.

TVIX appears to want to gap up further this morning, with a premarket high of 26.21. A continued backslide for the markets at large would certainly add to the gains we’ve already observed.

Two Rivers Water & Farming Co. TURV

We also want to swing back around to congratulate readers who picked up on our tag of TURV on Thursday, as we were met with a solid opportunity from this gainer as well.

From our observed low of .28 the stock managed to reach .50 Friday afternoon, marking an excellent two-day swing of 79% We’ll stick around and remain interested in TURV moving forward, provided it maintains support at or above .34 on any pullbacks.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: BCEI Review & More

Bonanza Creek Energy, Inc. BCEI

On an otherwise relatively quiet day, we observed a nice move in BCEI, a stock we’ve been tracking routinely for quite some time. The most recent occasion upon which we mentioned the stock was a few weeks back on August 18th, and we subsequently observed a low of .81.

Yesterday’s  move from 1.19 up to a new high of 1.41 was not only an intraday push of 18% but it also represented a total upswing of 74% over our observed low. It has been a fairly steady incline over the past ten sessions or so, and we’ll continue to monitor it higher highs and higher lows.

Other Updates

Signal Bay, Inc. SGBY – We alerted our readers to our interest in SGBY on Tuesday, and the entire week has been a a continual uptrend as it has recorded higher highs and higher lows every single day.

From Tuesday low of .0103 to yesterday’s new high at .0219, we’d seen a total three-session increase of 113% and it will remain on our radar going forward.
_____

Enteromedics, Inc. ETRM – We’ve got a history with ETRM that literally stretches back for years, and yesterday thought to re-signal the stock as it was showing a hint of life coming off of the new 52-week low it established just this week.

We mentioned that we’re going to keep an eye on it for a recovery over an extended period, but it fared pretty well in the short-term also, with a nice 21% move from .1383-.167. We’ll continue to track it for higher highs and higher lows in sessions to come.

InvestView, Inc. INVU

We spotted a possible subpenny bottom-play in INVU. It registered a new 52-week low of .0025 last week, traded in a daily range from .0031 up to .0041 yesterday, with accumulation/distribution picking up considerably in recent sessions.  We’re going to keep watch over this one for signs of a recovery off of these lows.

Extended Watchlist:
PVHO, CATQ, GCHK, STX, EARS, CLCD, TVIX

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Bottom-Play, Options & More

EnteroMedics Inc. ETRM

ETRM is the first in a group of plays that we’ve been familiar with in the past, that we’d like to circle back around to this morning.

We never stop looking out for stocks giving a bounce signal off of their 52-week lows, and ETRM raised that flag yesterday. The stock hit a new annual low (.123) as the short week kicked off on Tuesday, and yesterday’s session showed a clear rebound , trading between .14-.15, so we’ll just want to keep our eyes peeled for a mid-to-extended term recovery.

GW Pharmaceuticals plc GWPH

GWPH is another stock that we’ve had experiences with in the past, and today we’ve spotted a possible opportunity to take advantage of it once again.

On the flip-side of the coin from the previously mentioned play, GWPH has just hit its highest PPS since last October (104.58) yesterday on an epic single-day surge. That’s quite an impressive jump over its levels the last time we mentioned it in our reports, when it was trading just above $80.

Additionally, looking back over GWPH’s track record, it seems every time the stock makes a major move to the upside, there’s always a commensurate consolidation that follows. For this reason, we’re going to signal a range of extended-term puts in the GWPH options chain to track over the coming days and weeks.

Our four potential targets are going to be the GWPH 10/21 $105-90 Puts.

Rite Aid Corp. RAD

Also among stocks we’ve tracked at various times and for various reasons in the past, is RAD, though it has been quite some time since we last had our eyes on it closely.

Today we’ve been provided with an update on the status of the pending buyout of the company by Walgreens Boots Alliance (WBA) (>>View PR)

We’ll be watching the stock which is presently trading at a low multiple in the 8.30-range, as well as an options idea; the RAD Weekly $7.50 and $8 Calls, with the possibility of rolling up to the $8.50’s if and when the stock breaks its premarket high 8.42.
