Midweek Options Review & More

Midweek Options Review

We offered up a buffet of options choices yesterday, and two of our ideas panned out immediately, with our longer-term idea still needing some time to mature.

The ones that worked out without delay were the designated ideas from the DBI and CONN chains. They were the DBI 12/20 $17.50-15 Puts and the CONN 12/20 $17-15 Puts.  Both of those were bearish signals on puts, and both yielded solid intraday results, good for opportunities to score the following daily gains:

Designer Brands, Inc. DBI 12/20 $17.50-15 Puts
$17.50 Puts – Range: 2.60-3.71 – Max Gain: 43%
$15 Puts – Range: .60-1.36 – Max Gain: 127%

Conn’s Inc. CONN 12/20 $17-15 Puts
$17 Puts
 – Range: 2.00-3.30 – Max Gain: 43%
$16 Puts – Range: 1.45-1.92 – Max Gain: 32%
$15 Puts – Range: .70-1.60 – Max Gain: 129%

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: More Bottom Plays

Motif Bio plc MTFB – Bottom-Watch Play

With not a lot happening on the premarket earnings front this morning, we are looking elsewhere for potential opportunities. We’re interested in the current setup on MTFB, which from the current are, seems far more likely to see a big increase than a big decrease at the present time.

There is an absolutely massive gap to the upside on the chart as you can see. Should it move to fill that gap once again, we could be looking at a significant chance for gains here.

Liquidia Tech, Inc. LQDA

We also want to point out the prime bottom setup on LQDA, which was a $20 stock just a month ago. Now trading at half that amount, there is a gap on the chart that needs to be filled here as well and all indicators are pointing to a strong possibility of that happening sooner rather than later.

We will reserve a space on our radar for this play over the next several sessions. LQDA could very easily return to the $15-level relatively soon without a problem.

Options Updates

The Michaels Companies, Inc. MIK – One of our fresh ideas for yesterday morning’s premarket report was a post-earnings target of the MIK 04/18 $12.50 Calls combined with a solid technical setup as a bottom-bounce play.

The stock turned in a very solid performance on the day, coming up just shy of its 50DMA, and that produced a significant gain opportunity for the contract set we designated. The $12.50 Calls traded up of a low of .60, and hit 1.35, marking an intraday run of 125% We’ll want to continue to reserve a spot on our radar for this play, and watch for the stock to continue to establish higher lows and higher highs off of its recent 52-week lows.
____

StoneCo Inc STNE – We also had the STNE 04/18 $37.50 & $39 Calls highlighted in yesterday’s report, and while we didn’t see quite the same intensity of activity as the above-mentioned play, that pair of contracts did get off to a good start, with nearly a full month remaining until expiration.

The $37.50’s traded in a range from 4.60-6.20 for a 35% move, and the $39’s went from 4.20-5.00 (+19%). We’ll continue tracking these as well.
