Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Prime Bottom Play

CarMax, Inc. KMX – Recap

To open things up this week, we’re going to go over the performance of a fresh options ideas from Friday morning’s premarket report. We were tracking the  KMX Weekly $85-87.50 Calls and we met with some very good fortune in the form of multi-bag, single session gain opportunities.

All four of the contract sets we watching provided enormous intraday chances, which wasn’t surprising, given the huge help we had last week from a surge in the markets. A strong earnings report from KMX did the rest, and we finished out the week with these superb gains:

$85 Calls – Range: .48-2.55 – Max Gain: 431%
$86 Calls – Range: .27-1.73 – Max Gain: 541%
$87 Calls – Range: .15-1.09 – Max Gain: 627%
$87.50 Calls – Range: .10-.76 – Max Gain: 660%

Fresh Ideas:

Seres Therapeutics, Inc. MCRB

We’re currently very interested in MCRB for multiple reasons. The stock recently touched down on a new annual low, and at the same time, a company director purchased a huge block of shares which amounted to a significant percentage of the overall market cap.

Since then the stock has been trending off of that bottom, with just the sort of volatility potential we’re always after. In addition to the stock itself being a solid candidate for a recovery play, we will also place the MCRB 07/19 $2.50 Calls on watch.

Moleculin Biotech, Inc. MBRX – Recap

We highlighted this play at the end of last month, and shortly thereafter we would observe a low of .7772. Last week, MBRX reached a new high of 1.47, which translates to a gain of 89% in roughly three weeks’ time.

The move, which filled the entirety of the topside gap on the chart, was due to Thursday’s revelation that the company’s drug Annamycin had received the FDA’s Approval for fast-track designation. At 4:30PM on Wednesday, MBRX officials will conduct a call to discuss this and other developments on a live webcast, which will be available in the Investor Relations section at www.moleculin.com.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: DMTX Review, Options & More

Dimension Therapeutics, Inc. DMTX

We alerted on DMTX after a sizable gap-up few weeks back on the morning of August 25th. That day we would observe a low of 2.90 in the stock, and it never looked back.

Throughout the month of September the stock has mostly been stair-stepping its way up in steady fashion, but news of an unsolicited buyout offer (@5.50/share) kicked this play into a much higher gear to start things off this week, and yesterday DMTX attained a high of 5.90.

That works out to a three-week double-bag swing of 103% We wouldn’t expect to see the stock travel much higher, certainly not without confirmation or further details on a proposal, but will still keep our eyes open for further activity after a very strong session yesterday.

Fresh Options Ideas

We’ve got a pair of options possibilities  to present this morning. Yesterday’s market sentiment was exceedingly bullish, with more than 65% of NASDAQ quoted stocks trading at or above their 50-day moving averages.

Today, better than expected numbers on Housing Starts and Building Permits were reported, which could assist in keeping the momentum moving.

SPDR S&P500 ETF (SPY) – For a direct market analog, we generally turn to the SPY, having had immense success with it on several separate occasions in the past. We’re going to signal the SPY Weekly $249.50 & $250 Calls for observation as we approach midweek.
_____

The Kroger Co. KR – We’re also noticing a heck of a bottom setup on KR. A strong multiple bottom signal showing the stock at a solid support level, and a couple of gaps to the upside on the chart leaves us looking at a pair of longer-term contracts. We’re going to place the KR 11/17 $23 & $24 Calls on watch in the event of a recovery for Kroger.
