Blue Horseshoe Stocks: TSN Recap & More

Tyson Foods Inc. TSN – Update

We started the week off yesterday by formulating some options ideas for TSN. The company had a mixed earnings call, with a beat on Q3 profits, and a miss on sales. We pointed to the technical setup of the chart as our primary reason for being interested, and as it turns out we called the bottom perfectly.

We came up with a short and longer term set of ideas, and while we may yet come back to the long terms, we are looking at the weekly calls we designated today after some solid performances. Those were the TSN Weekly $58-59.50 Calls, and all but the $58’s produced double-bag gains on the session.

$58.50 Calls – Range: .90-2.25 – Max Gain: 150%
$59 Calls – Range: .80-1.68 – Max Gain: 110%
$59.50 Calls – Range: .75-1.50 – Max Gain: 100%

Fresh Options Ideas

Our success with options over the past several weeks has been so pronounced, we see absolutely no reason to stop now, especially being in the thick of another earnings season. We’ve got another pair of earning related options ideas to bring to the table today.

Etsy, Inc. ETSY Weekly $40-50 Calls
Zillow Group, Inc. Z Weekly $48-49 Calls

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Ford Options Recap & More

Ford Motor Co. F

Back on February 12th, we flagged Ford as a bottom watch play after the company got off to a bad start in 2018. It had just begun to show signs of life, so we formulated an options idea to help us take advantage of the scenario.

Our targets were the F 03/02 10.37-11.37 Calls and we’ve seen some solid opportunities from three of the four contracts in that range in the two weeks since our alert.

$10.37 Calls – Range: .31-.55 – Max Gain: 77%
$10.87 Calls – Range: .04-.12 – Max Gain: 200%
$11 Calls – Range:.02-.07 – Max Gain: 250%

Target Corp. TGT

Yesterday morning we saw an opportunity to select a range of calls in the Target options chain, and decided to focus on the TGT Weekly $75-76.50 Calls for a fresh options idea. It was an immediate success, with TGT trading up enough to produce some really nice single-session swings.

$75 Calls – Range: 1.42-2.42 – Max Gain: 70%
$75.50 Calls – Range: 1.03-1.92 – Max Gain: 86%
$76 Calls – Range: .85-1.64 – Max Gain: 93%
$76.50 Calls – Range: .80-1.31 – Max Gain: 64%

Dean Foods Co. DF

We also want to put DF on our watchscreens as a bottom-watch play. The stock got absolutely crushed as a result of missed earnings and revenue estimates in its Q4 report, along with a  downgrade by Credit Suisse.

These events have driven DF into heavily oversold territory, registering a new 52-week low. The stock also has a history of relatively volatile swings, so we’re going to watch closely for the beginnings of a bottom bounce in sessions ahead. It may have further to fall, but we’ll be looking for that rebound.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: NQ Review & More

NQ Mobile, Inc.  NQ

Our coverage of NQ stretches all the way back to the Fall of 2013 when the stock made a huge run, and we tracked it to a similar albeit smaller-scale spike in October, so we are quite familiar with this play. We have good reason to re-assess NQ this morning in the wake of an interesting PR, coupled with a good positioning of the chart.

In terms of the NQ chart, there a couple of finer points that we’ll point out on the following snapshot:

This morning’s PR relates to a big open market stock repurchase by management which seems to be fueling NQ in the premarket. >>> VIEW PR

Cannabis Coverage:

A few of the marijuana-related stocks we were mentioning yesterday morning managed to put up some solid numbers over the course of the day.

CBIS traded in a range from .068-.08 (+17%) on roughly 4X its monthly average volume.

MCIG did slightly better as recorded a 19% move from .15 to .178, trading more than twice its average volume.

EAPH
also had a heavy volume day to the tune of roughly 3X its average, and made a healthy jump of 21% as it traded from its open at .024 to a high of .029.

As medical and recreational marijuana acceptance continues to spread, we’ll need to keep a close eye on these and many other cannabis plays, as we tend to believe that growth in this arena will be more substantial in 2015 than any previous year.

A few other pot plays to watch this week: WDHR, NRTI, MDCN, LATF, VPOR
