Blue Horseshoe Stocks: SPY Calls & More

SPDR S&P500 ETF (SPY)

After the previous two sessions of backsliding for the markets at large, today we could be in line to see a reversal, especially after a high impact jobs report which exceeded expectations, as the private sector added 234K jobs in January when 190K was the expected figure.

We’re going to focus on the SPY as we often do when we’re looking for a market analog, and signal some contracts for observation; the SPY Weekly $282-284 Calls.

The Boeing Co. BA

We also want to give our attention to Boeing this morning in the wake of a very positive earnings report. In addition to a beat on profits, the company boosted its 2018, including ratcheting up production of Jetliners by 7%.

As a result the stock soared in premarket trading, past previous resistance and into blue skies. We’ll look for a classic dip-and-rip scenario and turn our attention to the BA Weekly $352.50-360 Calls.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Fresh Options Ideas & More

SPDR S&P 500 ETF (SPY) – Options Recap

Yesterday we offered up our opinion that the SPY was going to get back to its bullish ways, and outlined what we felt was an attractive set of contracts in the options chain, the SPY 01/17 $277.50-279 Calls. It was for quick-strike trades only, given that they expired at 4 o’clock, and the chances were certainly there for the taking.

We said we’d be looking for the classic dip and rip pattern to present those chances for intraday flips, and our idea couldn’t have worked out much better, including our second instance of multiple thousand percent gainers in the past week! The potential single session profits on the table were as follows:

$277.50 Calls – Range: .41-2.53 – Max Gain: 517%
$278 Calls – Range: .21 -2.03 – Max Gain: 867%
$278.50 Calls – Range: .10-1.54 – Max Gain: 1440%
$279 Calls – Range: .05-1.04 – Max Gain: 1980%

The York Water Co. YORW

We also want to submit a fresh options idea this morning to coincide with an ideal chart setup on YORW. As you can see on the included snapshot, the stock began to rebound off of a multiple-bottom setup and looks as if it could easily make a run of at least a few dollars in a potential recovery.

We’ll be ready with a couple of contracts to track in the event that a more sustained upswing is in the cards, with the YORW 02/16 $30 & $35 Calls.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Cannabis News Play & More

Stereo Vision Entertainment SVSN

We had SVSN hit our scanner this morning after we noticed an interesting PR coming across the wires. We’re always looking for new interests in the cannabis space, and SVSN fits that bill. Unlike many of the companies in the business conduct their activities primarily in the western states, SVSN has an operation in Florida.

The company just announced a February 1, 2018 Grand Opening of its majority owned subsidiary CannaVision’s Bay Pines medical cannabis and holistic pain management clinic in St Petersburg, Florida. (>>View PR)

We’ll be interested to track the progress of this new facility, and SVSN stock itself going forward.

SPDR S&P 500 ETF (SPY)

We also want to throw in a quick options idea for the SPY, which despite a momentary hiccup in its week’s-long bullish trend yesterday, looks to be gapping up and ready to get back on track today. There are a set of contracts expiring today that we want to radar: the SPY 01/17 $277.50-279 Calls*.

Please be aware that contracts approaching expiration are subject to evaporating premiums due to time decay, so these are quick-strike opportunities only. We’ll be looking for the classic early dip and rip pattern, which should present those chances for intraday flips.

*Be aware that this idea is extremely high risk, and for advanced level traders only!

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: CAPR Recap & More

Capricor Therapeutics, Inc. CAPR

We included CAPR in yesterday’s premarket watchlist after noticing some abnormal volume and price action in the stock during the previous session. Prior to that it had been trading sideways for more than a month.

It turns out our alert came just in the nick of time, because yesterday CAPR exploded for its largest single-session spike in years. The stock opened at 1.50 and managed to run as high as 2.65, filling a good portion of the large gap on its chart, left in May. It came out to an intraday push of 77% which came on monstrous volume of just under 80 times the monthly average.

SPDR S&P500 ETF (SPY)

We discussed tracking the SPY Weekly $249.50 & $250 Calls as conditions appeared favorable to another bullish day for the market in general. The fund made a pretty solid move during the session, and that produced some decent opportunities in our designated contracts.

The $249.50’s traded from .55 to a high of .83 (+51%), while the $250’s did slightly better with a run from .29 to .49 (+69%) just before lunch hour.

Helios and Matheson Analytics, Inc. HMNY

We last tagged HMNY on August 15th, and after a solid run, the stock went under consolidation for a few weeks. However, the downturn ended at the end of last week and the move it’s made since has been pretty impressive.

HMNY saw a low of 2.42 on Thursday, and yesterday the stock achieved a new high of 6.40. That represents a four -session upswing of 164% while volume over the same period has been significantly increased.

HTG Molecular Diagnostics, Inc. HTGM

We’re interested to track HTGM today after the company announced the issuance of two method patents on its technology. We’re seeing a moderate gap-up in the premarket, but there still appears to be the good chance for a solid upside here. The stock does have a recent history containing a huge spike to more than $12.

We’ll place it on watch, and look for it to establish a string of sessions recording higher highs and higher lows moving forward.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: DMTX Review, Options & More

Dimension Therapeutics, Inc. DMTX

We alerted on DMTX after a sizable gap-up few weeks back on the morning of August 25th. That day we would observe a low of 2.90 in the stock, and it never looked back.

Throughout the month of September the stock has mostly been stair-stepping its way up in steady fashion, but news of an unsolicited buyout offer (@5.50/share) kicked this play into a much higher gear to start things off this week, and yesterday DMTX attained a high of 5.90.

That works out to a three-week double-bag swing of 103% We wouldn’t expect to see the stock travel much higher, certainly not without confirmation or further details on a proposal, but will still keep our eyes open for further activity after a very strong session yesterday.

Fresh Options Ideas

We’ve got a pair of options possibilities  to present this morning. Yesterday’s market sentiment was exceedingly bullish, with more than 65% of NASDAQ quoted stocks trading at or above their 50-day moving averages.

Today, better than expected numbers on Housing Starts and Building Permits were reported, which could assist in keeping the momentum moving.

SPDR S&P500 ETF (SPY) – For a direct market analog, we generally turn to the SPY, having had immense success with it on several separate occasions in the past. We’re going to signal the SPY Weekly $249.50 & $250 Calls for observation as we approach midweek.
_____

The Kroger Co. KR – We’re also noticing a heck of a bottom setup on KR. A strong multiple bottom signal showing the stock at a solid support level, and a couple of gaps to the upside on the chart leaves us looking at a pair of longer-term contracts. We’re going to place the KR 11/17 $23 & $24 Calls on watch in the event of a recovery for Kroger.
