Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Epic BPTH Run

Bio-Path Holdings, Inc. BPTH

We’ve been talking about BPTH all week, after the stock we tagged as a bottom watch play in our morning report on January 23rd had come up from our observed low of 2.65 to nearly the $15-mark. It was an incredible gain indeed, but nothing could have prepared us for what was to come.

Yesterday, following the company’s clinical update on its Phase 2 acute myeloid leukemia drug, prexigebersen, we saw an explosion on the chart that can only be described as the rarest of the rare. BPTH shot up from a daily low of 17.01 to an astounding high of 73.52! That worked out to an intraday swing of 332% As measured from the low following our January alert on the stock, BPTH posted an increase of  2,674% in a matter of just five weeks.

The stock pulled back to the high $30’s following that epic run, so it would appear that the above-mentioned figure will be the final maximum gain on our idea. While this has a chance to go down as our best stock call of the year, the chances that we score bigger gains on options ideas are extremely high. So we encourage any non-subscribers reading this to sign up as soon as possible!

Fresh Options Ideas

Speaking of options, which have also brought us several multi-bag gain opportunities this week, we’ll go ahead and close out this incredibly successful week with a pair of ideas that seem to be good bets here in the premarket. Horrid payroll numbers are contributing to what appears to be an impending bearish day for the markets.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Retail Earnings Plays

Retail Earnings Ideas

Two of the biggest names jumping out to us off of the earnings calendar this morning are a couple of giants in the retail space, Target and Kohls. We want to formulate some options ideas to correspond with good reports from both companies.

Target Corp. TGT – In the case of Target, the company exceeded expectations on the street for both sales and earnings, while guidance for the remainder of 2019 was promising. That’s just the type pof release we  are always looking out for, and we are going to be tracking the TGT Weekly $75-77 Calls on the heels of this report.
_____

Kohl’s Corp. KSS – The story is much the same for Kohls. Beats on profits, sales, and earnings sent shares flying in the premarket, so we want to be ready with an idea here as well. We’ll monitor the KSS Weekly $68.50-70.50 Calls as we head into midweek.

SPDR S&P500 ETF (SPY) – Recap

Fresh for yesterday morning, we signaled some daily calls in the SPY, the SPY 03/04 $280.50-282 Calls, and despite a couple of those being too far out of the money to experience significant moves, we did see a nice performance from the $280.50 Calls. Those ran from ,28 up to .50, good for an intraday pop of 82%

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Reviewing Recent Winners

STOCK RECAPS

Much of our focus gets devoted to options ideas these days, as they represent the greatest chance for large short term gains for traders. However, we still scan every day for stocks, and we wanted to begin this new trading week by highlighting a few of our recent picks that have met or exceeded our expectations.

Bio-Path Holdings, Inc. BPTH – Beginning with the least recent, roughly five weeks ago on January 23rd, BPTH was a stock we tagged as a bottom-watch play. The stock essentially traded sideways for the next month, only making nominal gains. That is until the latter half of last week, when it began to heat up on Thursday, and subsequently explode on Friday, performing beautifully on the day. The stock logged the number one gain on the entire NASDAQ, as it traded up from a low of 2.65 before reaching a high of 8.84.

That works out to a mind-melting 234% single-session rise on massive volume, which is extremely uncommon for big board plays. Cheers to anyone who caught a ride on this shooting star!
_____

Lexicon Pharma, Inc. LXRX – Appearing in Friday morning’s report was LXRX, which certainly didn’t see the level of activity as the previously mentioned play, but still posted positive figures on the day. From a low of 5.55, the stock rose as high as 7.07, marking a comparatively small but respectable intraday increase of 27%
_____

China Internet Nationwide Financial Services, Inc. CIFS – Also included in Friday’s report was CIFS, which also had a reasonably strong session following our alert. The low came in at 2.30 before the stock surged into the close at its high of day of 3.25. That represents a solid intraday gain of 41% We’ll also want to see if the stock can carry some of that momentum at the close, over to this fresh trading week.

Funko, Inc. FNKO – Options Review

We also signaled our interest in the FNKO 03/15 $22.50 & 25 Calls on Friday, and we got solid performances out of those contracts. The $22.50 Calls ran from .28-.70 for a gain of 150%
while the $25 also recorded a 150% pop from .10-.25.

Blue Horseshoe Stocks: Big Winners from Friday

Big Winners from Last Week
Due to the sheer number of winning plays to report on from Friday’s newsletter, we will give only a brief summary including the name of the company, the ideas we submitted, and the total possible gains they had provided by the end of the week.

Nearly everything we’ve had our hands in recently has made some type of the move to the upside, continuing a very promising trend that we have established in the first months of 2019.

AstraZeneca plc AZN –We cited some contracts here earlier in the week (Weekly $39-39.50 Calls), as well as updated that idea on Friday with a couple of new targets at higher strike prices (Weekly $40-40.50 Calls). All contracts involved saw significant moves/new highs.

$40 Calls – Range: .23-.95 – Max Gain: 313%
$40.50 Calls – Range: .12-.38 – Max Gain: 217%
_____

Electronic Arts, Inc. EA – We had the EA Weekly $107-109 Calls in Friday’s report as a fresh idea, and all three of those plays could have worked out nicely for traders. We saw double bag gain opportunities across the board in this case.$107 Calls – Range: .78-1.60 – Max Gain: 102%

$108 Calls – Range: .50-1.13 – Max Gain: 126%
$109 Calls – Range: .33-.66 – Max Gain: 100%
____
Canopy Growth Corp. CGC – We’ve been watching Canopy since well before the stock uplisted to the NYSE from the OTC, and while what was supposed to be a Canadian cannabis boom has been much more subdued than anticipated, we still like to keep tabs on this one and use its activity to our advantage wherever possible. On Friday we targeted the CGC Weekly $46.50-48 Calls and were met with multi-bag intraday gains there as well.
$39.50 Calls – Range: .83-2.01 – Max Gain: 142%
$40 Calls – Range: .62-1.60 – Max Gain: 158%

_____
SPDR S&P500 ETF (SPY) – Last but not least, we had an idea for the SPY options chain, as we very often do, and all of those contracts provided us with big profit chances as they very often do! All five targets in the range of our SPY Weekly $274.50-276 Calls made big moves.
$274.50 Calls – Range: .85-2.92 – Max Gain: 244%
$275 Calls – Range: 1.26-2.62 – Max Gain: 108%
$275.50 Calls – Range: .86-2.61 – Max Gain: 203%

Walmart, Inc. WMT – Fresh Options Idea
Today we want to keep things rolling with a new idea to kick the week off on, and that is going to be WMT Weekly $101-104 Calls. The stock broke a double-top area of resistance on Friday, and this morning, an across-the-board earnings beat should help create some nice activity in our designated range.
